Butch (owner) was top notch, and answered all our questions quickly and handled any issues. Common area is huge and well stocked with comfortable furniture and eating areas, large bathrooms and spotless kitchen were both great We had one tiny issue with hot water in the showers but we got that handled quickly. There is a powerful hose located next to a expanded metal deck to wash machines off.

When we arrived a number of emergencies had occurred so she was unable to take us herself but she worked her magic and got a fellow tour guide to come to the rescue to take us. Jess was our driver and tour guide and did an awesome job taking us on a wild ride to the cache. Not sure we could have done this on our own since we have no experience with these vehicles. A fun adventure and well worth it.

We were closely monitoring the weather and had a reservation for Friday. The weather did not appear to be in our favor so we contacted Amber. She was such a doll! She agreed that Thursday would be our best option and since she had availability she rescheduled us. We arrived at 8am and after a safety brief, she provided a highlighted map of where we needed to go. It took us about 5 hours to complete our mission, so much fun. The ATVs were in good working order and the helmets fit just fine. I highly recommend Amber and BAC! P.S. if you are a geocacher, CALL! Don't book online.

Hello y'all, just an update on our experience with mountain top adventures. So our first 3 days…read morethere out of 7 our unit had no air conditioning. The air conditioning was out on the third day. The electricity went out and spoiled all of the food that we were cooking the whole time we were there. My son was making videos of the rats that were coming out from underneath the sink and going around the cabinet and eating our dog food and then whenever we left there we got an additional $300 cost and getting rid of all of the bed bugs that we got while we received while we were staying in their cabins. I have made several attempts to reach out to the company to get some kind of refund for our stay and the arrogant owner or his staff never even took the time to call us back. They laughed on our face and told us they would not give us any kind of refund and if we don't come back they don't care. Unfortunately, sometimes when you travel from Texas all the way up to like West Virginia and you don't know anybody. You don't know who to choose and we made the worst choice we could have. There are other companies out there that have amazing people and they take care of their people. I just wish we would have chosen differently. The only thing good about our experience was the young lady that cleaned and service the units. Her name was Sissy. She was an amazing and she tried to help us the best she could. But when you work for a company that's in control she had no control but she tried so. Thank you Sissy........... P.S. The only reason I gave this company a one star. It's because I had to leave at least one star and the one star is for the one employee there who did us right? Thanks again, Sissy

We used to heated pool which is till open, very clean and relaxing. The restaurant is great, good food and good service. Very reasonably priced RV site everything you need is there. No hassle, no lecture, just " yes mam of course we can!" We drove over 14 hours from Massachusetts and arrived early. Again, no problem. We parked, unloaded the machines and got to explore and eat. We stayed in cabin 29- hot tub, 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, large kitchen, living room, deck, and most all- huge drive way! The staff was awesome, rooms and lodging clean and we used all the amenities- ATV wash, laundry, restaurant, and the on/off track access! Kudos to this resort! We will be back! Thank you!! I had an amazing visit to Chief Logan!! I stayed in the lodge in room 305, which had a lovely…read morebalcony with Adirondack chairs to sit in overlooking the trees and the playground/ fire pit area. It was not busy at all, not noisy, and had plenty to do just at the lodge! There's a full service restaurant, drinks, and a gazebo as well as an exhibit on WV in the hallways by the conference rooms. The trails were marked well enough, though some were closed, but even the green space was nice to walk around in. My favorite thing though, was the animal exhibit. Mandy the bear, who's an impressive 28 year old black bear, is adorable, and loves peanuts. Barry was awesome and had great information on not just Mandy, but all the residents at the wildlife center, including bobcats, a Barred Owl, and a sweetheart of an Eurasian Boar named Mo. Warning!! The Tomblin Pass between the two park areas is a whopping 16% grade, so if you are going to the campground with a trailer, don't come in exit 30 for the lodge way but the park entrance near town. It's gorgeous up on the pass, but steeeep and windy. The road is in excellent shape though, if you take it slow and easy, you should be fine without hauling too much behind you.

One issue I've had with most of the stops in WV is the lack of information. I would of loved to of known where the cabin was from, what year it was from, the general history. Alas, there was no plaques to be read. It was locked due to vagrants. Supposedly they will open it up during reenactment days. It's peaceful and beautiful in the fall. It never seemed too busy the two times I drove through. There are restrooms, but I didn't partake. There are also picnic tables available. A man made pond for fishing was being actively used. I am not sure what fish are stocked in it. I did get to see a deer and apparently they're fed or not people shy as it was in the parking lot close to people nearby. Hopefully this doesn't become a problem, particularly during rut. We walked a small trail just to get out and enjoy the rare 81 degrees in November. It was peaceful. I could see myself spending a lot of time here. Volunteers were busy setting up holiday displays of different characters. They do a Christmas drive thru light show, but I will sadly be missing it.

Decided on a last minute trip to the Hatfield McCoy trails and this campground was recommended by…read moreanother that was full for my dates. I couldn't be happier! I was so pleased with this campground. 3 people in my party used the bathhouse/showers and raved that they were the cleanest they have ever seen. We stayed in a full hookup RV site and the site was very level. Used only 1 leveler on one side of our travel trailer. We had a 38 foot travel trailer, tow vehicle, 2 SXS, trailer and another tow vehicle with plenty of space. Behind our site was a flowing creek/river, and we were able to open the back window in our bunkhouse to have a nice view. The owners are exceptional and so pleasant. They keep everything maintained and are beyond helpful. Approachable, friendly and always willing to help! I would absolutely recommend this place and will return to this same campground. Access to the trails was very convenient and just over 1/4 mile from the grounds. Both Rockhouse and Buffalo Mountain can be accessed via Devil Anse trail. Very convenient!
