What a great way to spend a summer day. This is a rafting review, we only came up for the day, but we are already talking about next year and doing a two day visit and double our rafting fun. We picked the Lower New River, a full day adventure. We kicked off a little bit before 9 and had a quick equipment assignment and then climbed aboard a well seasoned bus. Its a bus and it served its purpose. During the ride we got a basic but funny safety briefing. You can tell these guys love their job and enjoy making life fun. After about a 25 minute ride, we arrived at the departure spot and got assigned a raft. We are a family of 4 so they assigned two more people to our raft and our guide, Jackson was phenomenal! Seriously, Jackson is so chill and personable, we could have just hung out and listened to his adventures in life. He did a really great job making everyone feel welcomed, valued and appreciated. For me, I know I would have been barking rules at our novice tubers, but he just gave specific instructions on what to expect, what to do if the 'in case' happens, and provided assurance that he would protect everyone. He also provided fun little facts about the river and history of the Gorge. We saw class II to class IV rapids and there were some intense moments. It took me a couple rapids to figure out that Jackson would strategically place our boat in the best part of the rapids for maximum effect, which made this ride so memorable. Despite sometimes facing a wall of water, we always felt in control and hearing Jackson hooting and hollering like a kid gave the assurance and reminder that this is 100% fun adrenaline. The river water was cool and refreshing, not shockingly cold in July and the levels were high so we had a good time. We did stop half way down for a lunch which consisted of either meat/cheese sandwiches or PB sandwiches, potato salad, a pasta salad, watermelon, chips & salsa, and a desert. It was good and sustained everyone. The second half of the day the river was even better than the first half. At the end, we got picked up by the bus with an even shorter ride back to AOTG. They provided a couple coolers of ice cold water, soda, and gatorade for the ride back. Once back we showered, changed and checked out the photos of our trip. This was an 11 out of 10 experience for my family and like I said, we are already planning on coming back for a 2 day trip. read more

Wow wow wow. We tend to be a little bougie with our accommodations so we were going out on a limb during our trip to West Virginia. Partly because there were no four seasons in the area (mostly joking) but also because we were in WeSt vIrGiNiA and wanted to get in touch with NaTuRe we decided to go outside of our cocmfort zone and picked some closer to nature options. This was the second. We went with Kaymoor at Adventures on the Gorge. Thjey have the full scale between literal camping and hotel-like, I believe we chose the most hotel-like option. I wanted to do the glamping but there were none available about a month before our trip when I finally got my shit together to book shit. Check in was super easy. We were given a key and a treasure map of how to get to our "cabin" which was easy to drive to. It is a legit cabin in the woods but will all amenities one would expect staying in the a hotel. Great bathroom and shower with a ton of towels, bedroom and separate lounge room that included a mini fridge. TV, wifi, climate control. There was even a cute little porch with chairs in the literal woods. It is so cool. AC worked great. The shower was great. They provided more towels than I'm used to getting at hotels. The bed was SUPER COMFY. I literally don't have enough good things to say about this place. Such a good choice. read more

I was just here for the day as I was a part of a big work event, I didn't realize this was a whole place where you could stay as well. My local colleagues said this was owned by a different company and she was very impressed with the changes that were made to the property. Overall it was nice I didn't get to spend too much time here I did have breakfast and lunch and the food offered was good. They coordinated a trip to the New River Bridge walk. I would gladly return again the pool area looked really nice and there were lovely views of the New River. read more

So many options, never enough time!! This outfitter has it all, jet boats, whitewater trips, ropes course, zip lines, and more! All while also having many options for lodging! The pool is beautiful with a fantastic gorge view, and if you do any activity with them, you can take advantage of this little bonus! I did the jet boat tour, and it was fantastic! The views were incredible, and you learn about the surroundings from the boat captain. Megan was great, basically got our own private tour! The company also can shuttle you if you stay at Hawk's Nest State Park as the marina is by the base of the tramway from the lodge. read more

Book a Kaymoor cabin for the weekend to do some hiking and visiting family in the area. Checkin was fast and smooth. The cabin itself smelled strongly of bleach when we arrived (a good thing in my book). The cabin is super clean and cozy and has wonderful amenities, plus you're right in walking distance of the cafe, market, and the Smokey's on the Gorge restaurant, which is excellent. My only two areas for improvement would be that the shower seems to have drain flies, and the small window A/C unit really isn't appropriate for cooling a whole cabin (more like a small room) and thus was always running trying to keep up and unable to really do so. read more

THIS TRIP WAS AMAZING!! This was our first ever visit to New River Gorge National Park and Preserve, and lodging with Adventures on The Gorge was the BEST decision we could've made. We stayed in a beautiful cabin that was extremely clean and spacious with a picnic bench, firepit, and trees for hanging a hammock. We took a phenomenal 5 hour white water rafting trip down the New River with our very knowledgeable and personable guide, Greg! He guided us through huge rapids and even a thunderstorm! They even gave us snacks halfway through! We also zip lined with Adventures on the Gorge, and all of their employees are just so humorous and you can tell they love their jobs. 10/10 experience!! read more

Stayed for 3 days in a glamping tent. The tent is really quite large, nice and sturdy. Very much enjoyed making a campfire in the firepit and sitting in the chairs provided to watch all the stars in the dark West Virginia night sky come out and twinkle--so lovely. This is something that we can't do in DC due to all the artificial lights that are on 24/7. I like the fact the glamping campsites are somewhat far away from each other, not on top of the next campsite, like some places are. Check-in was super easy and everything was in order upon arrival. I appreciate that when here, you can be as involved in the various offerings as you want to or just commune with nature. There's no pressure to do anything. All the staff I engaged with were friendly, with-it and welcoming. The walking trails were just okay, perhaps need a bit more TLC in spots that get washed out. Went to the Java Falls coffee shop one time during normal operating hours and it wasn't open; no one could tell us why this was so. Overall it was a good experience. I would definitely come back here. read more

This review is only for white water rafting. Our group did the full day Lower New River trip on Memorial Day weekend. We had all been white water rafting before in different places in New England and the Mid Atlantic. This experience blew them out of the water! First, safety was really important here. We received very thorough instructions on what to do in almost every situation, from the raft flipping to falling out. The guides clearly train for a long time and every guide on our trip had over 10 years of experience. White water rafting can be very dangerous so it was good to know that safety came first. Our guides were also hilarious! The trip leader Ark had the best sense of humor and made the safety talks fun. He was also our river guide and WOW. He's funny, but he's also really intelligent and shared with us tons of knowledge about the science of rivers, history of the area, and natural history. He made the trip absolutely amazing. Finally, let's talk about the water! There were some really serious rapids here! None of us had ever done such intense white water rafting before. The rapids were awesome, and with the full day trip you warm up on smaller ones before getting into the serious stuff. The trip also included an opportunity to jump from a high rock, swim through a series of rapids, and take a dip. We floated under the famous New River Gorge bridge as well. We went at a great time of the year because it was warm enough that we didn't need wetsuits but the water was still cold and refreshing. The bus trip was brief. The gear was all in good condition and the guides made sure your life vest was fitted properly. Lunch was great and had tons of options. You could make your own sandwich with four different types of bread, peanut butter and jelly, Turkey and ham, condiments, and toppings like lettuce and tomatoes. There was also pasta salad, fresh fruit, a cold Asian rice salad, tortilla chips and salsa, and pudding! When we got back on the bus there were plenty of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to choose from. We had a fabulous time. We just got back from a 5 day and 4 night stay at AOTG, and can't wait to go back. Last summer my family of 4 spent 2 nights camping and did the ducky trip on the Upper New River. We loved it so much we brought our extended family. We reserved 2 camping spots in campground K to accommodate all 11 of us. Our group ranged in ages from 81-10, with both experienced camper and 1st timers. The sites were adjoining and spacious enough to spread out our 5 tents. Both sites had a picnic table and fire pit and plenty of tree cover from the midday sun. The Sunnyside bathhouse was just a short walk away (~5 min), which had clean showers as well as a laundry room. We showed up in a Saturday and there was live music that evening at the Rendezvous Lodge, which was a little further away. After a 7 hour drive it was cool to be able to relax at the campfire and to hear music in the distance. The next day all 11 of us did the Upper New River kayak trip with Guido. Guido and his team were expert guides whose focus on safety was apparent. They all were very personable and open and made the entire trip very enjoyable. Most of us were in kayaks, while seats on the raft were available for my parents. The trip is the perfect way for people of all ages and experience levels to take on the New. The whole family enjoyed lunch on the beach, especially the pasta salad! The kids loved Jump Rock and getting the opportunity to swim through out the day. The adults enjoyed the beverages on the trip back to campus after a long day on the river. That evening we had a wonderful dinner at Chetty's. The burgers were tasty, and the prices were very reasonable. The next day 7 of us took on the Lower New rafting trip, while my parents and the kids too young for the trip (under 12) explored New River Gorge National Park Visitor Center and some hiking trails. The Lower trip was so much fun, and we will definitely come back when our little ones are old enough to do it themselves. Our trip's lead guide was Thomas, and our raft guide was Hannah. Both were awesome. They both showed the same level of safety as the guides the day before, and made the first time rafters in our group comfortable. We all enjoyed the rapids, and lunch again (pasta salad 10/10.) After the trip the entire group from the rafting trip met at Chetty's with the guides to watch the trip video. It was a really cool way to end a great day. The next day we celebrated our daughter's 13th birthday with a fun morning on the Timber Trek Adventure Park. There were courses of 4 different difficulty levels. After a short intro on safety and the use of the equipment, our entire group spent 3 hours climbing ladders, crossing rope bridges and other obstacles, and zip-lining around the course. Our guides (Bree, Cam, Ivy and Will) were awesome and helped the little ones face their fears, and fostered an environment to have fun while doing hard things. That evening we had a birthday celebration at Smokey's On the Gorge. Everything there is amazing, we had steaks, pork chops, salmon and bbq. The star of the night was the bread pudding desert. Once again the servings were big, and the prices were very reasonable. We are already looking at a way to make another trip up to AOTG for Gauley Season this fall. read more

This was a great first experience with white water rafting. We did the half day tour of the lower river, and the rapids were absolutely thrilling. Everyone on our raft got soaking wet, but no one was thrown out. Our guide, Amanda, was funny and kept us safe during the trip. She explained interesting features of the river to us as we cruised along and always prepared us for how to handle the upcoming rapids. I highly recommend this experience for anyone visiting the new river gorge area. I'm withholding 1 star because we had to wait around for a bit longer than usual in the morning because of some unforeseen staffing issues that the outfitter was having. However, we eventually got back on track and had a perfect day on the water. read more

So yeah...I did the Gravity ZipLine and I've never ZipLine'd in my life before. How was it? Well, if you've ever wondered what it was like flying without wings or an airplane this is for you (Also, I'm terrified of heights) INCREDIBLE. Probably top 3 things I've ever done in my life. They really set you up for success during the three hours you're doing the tour. You start small, medium, then of course the Adrenaline AKA LARGE. It was all great. You go over the safety equipment, you go over what is correct/incorrect, what is tight/loose, the ZipLine equipment, and expectations. You do about 7 Zips with #7 being the main show. Even being terrified of heights, I was 100% comfortable the entire time. Flying through a mountain on a ZipLine going about 70 mph I just have one thing to say after it all..."zip it away zip it away zip it away now!" read more

Whut water rafting on the New and Gauley Rivers has come a long long way since I first started enjoying this high adventure sport. The Upper Gauley is one of the greatest and most challenging white water rivers in North America when running during "Gauley Season" in the Autumn. Growing up around this area have been a number of white water guide companies. Adventures on the Gorge is at, in my opinion, at the apex of that experience. A campus has developed with a variety of lodging, from tents to cabins, on site, and amenities including a pool, coffee shop, restaurant and gift/clothing shop. Zip lining is an offering here, but on my most recent trip I didn't come for that service. I was exclusively here to run the Upper Gauley. Then of course is the actual guide service. I've contracted with several guide services on the two rivers over the years and have always been pleased with my experience with AOTG. The staff are friendly & helpful. Video services ate available to have a record of your visit to the river to look back on. I highly recommend using this offering. My most recent experience on the river was with 2020 Guide of the Year "Mogul" Mike Hunn. It was quite a day. Mike has been rafting in West Virginia since 1984, is a consummate professional, & quite knowledgeable about the Gauley River, how it runs at various flow rates and how it's changed over the years. read more

This year in addition to rafting we did the treetops zip lining canopy tour which was fantastic. Cullen and Ryan were informative, entertaining and extremely knowledgeable. The zip lining itself was a bit scary but at no time did I feel like I was in danger. It is definitely a safety first adventure where you are tethered at all times, even when changing lines. Even the guides follow the same rules. The value added piece of this adventure was the amazing information the guides dishes out. We learned a lot about the flora and fauna and also the genesis of why this zip line facility was built. There is an invasive Japanese beetle that is killing all the conifers in this forest, So they installed the zip line tour to fund treatment of their 40 acre property where they treat every tree every three years as needed. So not only was fun, it helps to save this amazing forest! read more

White-water rafting here at AOTG was definitely a highlight of our June 2021 family vacation trip to Fayetteville, WV. My wife, two sons (15 yrs, 13 yrs), and I enjoyed the full day-trip on the Lower New River, but did not stay at the lodge. We rented an AirBnB house in Fayetteville during our stay. The AOTG facility is located about 1 mile off Route US-19 on the northeast side of the gorge (opposite side from Fayetteville). Check-in will be in the main facility complex on the left as you enter. The resort was founded by visitors from Cincinnati, Ohio and has the feel of a corporate retreat area - which may be appealing for large family reunions. Check-in was easy. I liked that they asked folks to arrive early and get settled before orientation. Fooz was the expedition leader and he conveyed a fun sense of humor that put people at ease. After a 20 minute bus ride along narrow roads, everyone was dropped off at the initiation point (Cunard landing). The full-day expedition includes a catered lunch and gives you plenty of time for swimming, jumping off a rock (optional if you wish), and even "surfing" on some of the rapids. First, the Lower New River was delightful with a nice temperature in June for swimming. It was a perfect mix of moderate and challenging rapids for my teenage sons. My wife and I appreciated there were calm sections of the river where you can swim. Second, the final section when you pass under the New River Gorge Bridge is amazing. It's really something to stare up 875 feet to the bridge span and hear tales of people catapulting off the bridge in October (for Bridge Day) and landing everywhere. It makes you grateful to be doing this trip in June (and not on Bridge Day). Third, our raft guide (Amanda) was excellent and had a lot of prior experience. Finally, one advantage of going with AOTG is that the website makes it easy to sign-up for a rafting trip. I would definitely go with AOTG again! Be sure to do the full-day option. In my opinion, a half-day would be too rushed to enjoy the river (and you miss out on the delicious lunch!). We did the moontrek adventure this operator during our visit to the area. The staff was quick to check us in and provided a good safety overview before hitting the course. Some of the obstacles got kind of busy with people, but it was still fun overall. There is a nice variety of different obstacles, so it wasn't too repetitive or boring. I would recommend this activity to others wanting to try something a little different as long as fear of heights is not an issue. read more

I cannot say enough about our experience with Adventures on the Gorge. We were there with a large group so we had 3 guides - Thomas, Greg, and Anthony. All 3 were absolutely incredible. We did the morning ride, the lower section (class 4 rapids). The guides were clear with their communication and made us aware of the dangers/what to do if, for example, someone did fall out. Our entire group had an absolute blast and many of us are ready to go back! We stayed for lunch afterwards. My phone fell out of my pocket. We were staying over 2 hours away. We were almost home by the time I realized. Michelle Moody at Adventures offered to overnight it to me vs driving back. She brought it to USPS herself, gave me the tracking information, and staying in communication the entire time. A couple of years ago we took a rafting trip in New River Gorge with a different company and we enjoyed it so much we came back. A family member chose the exact resort because we had been recommended it by a friend. Honestly, I didn't realize until not long before the trip that this was a different company. The rafting trip was really fun, once we left. The check in was disorganized. The guide was skilled at controlling the raft and we were able to enjoy Class I-IV rapids on a hot and unexpectedly sunny day. It was nice that they provided cold alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages on the ride back to the resort. The problem really was that our guide was unpleasant. When this was provided as feedback (more specific than I'll elaborate on this post) in the post-trip survey form, the resort called right away and offered a voucher for the whitewater trip for next year. This proactive customer service is well appreciated and we plan to return to use it. We stayed at the resort for several days in a cabin. The cabin itself was nice, although the temperature control between the top and bottom floors was a bit spotty and there was a lot of dust on the fan blades. Otherwise, it was well situated with a hot tub in a wooded setting and we enjoyed it. The pool area is well appointed and the woman at the bar was very nice. When we had an issue with the hot tub they came promptly to fix it. So, it wasn't kink-free, but we enjoyed our trip. The New River Gorge is absolutely gorgeous and this resort provided many ways to enjoy it. read more

What a fantastic place! I have been here many times, most recently with my husband for camping and white water rafting. The campus was very nice with a great view. Food at Smokey's was good. We stayed in a platform tent and we were happy with the setup. We were happy with the COVID-19 measures not only in place, but being enforced by staff. As for white water rafting, we did the full-day trip with a stop for lunch. Our guide was Derek Graves and he was fantastic! He was so knowledgeable, professional, kind and helpful. He made our trip safe, fun and entertaining. When we return (which we absolutely will), we will 100% request him! Yet another awesome Marathon day on the famous Gauley River From the early morning 6:15 AM check in with Dave - gracious, welcoming, very friendly - to the rest of the trip down the river, also with Dave (he turned out to be my Guide), we all had a terrific day, wrapping up around 4:30 PM. Again this year, I opted for the Marathon - which includes the Upper Gauley and the Lower Gauley. Having experienced Gauley Season 3 times before - starting over 20 years ago - I had great expectations for a fantastic day of rafting. I was not disappointed. When I went in 2020, COVID-19 was quite in full swing and they requested everyone wear masks - during check in, while eating lunch and on the bus ride to and from the river - but not when we were actually rafting down the river. In 2021, the mask requirements were not as strict, but still requested. Dave made sure that we all got to experience as many of the great rapids and interesting history of the river as he could. Unfortunately, I did fall in at the ironically named rapid, Insignificant. I fell in near the beginning of the rapid, and it was not a good place to fall in. Everyone, from my guide to my raft-mates, pitched in to get me back in the raft as quickly as they could, but it was not a pleasant experience. Thankfully, the rest of the trip was way more fun. I did manage to lose my river shoes, and ended up with sunburned feet for the next several days. Next year, I may invest in some river "booties" instead. Oh, I would also recommend you invest in some river gloves - with or with fingertips. Helped save my hand with all that paddling. With the Marathon, we were treated to a tasty lunch about halfway down. Due to COVID, the traditional "fix your own" ham/turkey/roast beef cold cut sandwiches had been replaced. This time they served everyone - from the chips/salsa/homemade nachos to a tasty pasta salad to the homecooked Hot pulled Pork, Chicken or Beef to the chocolate chip cookies with Hot Chocolate, hot coffee (nice after being in cold water) or tea. Yes, the food was plentiful, delicious and served to us by friendly faces. After 7 or 8 hours on the river and back to Camp, we got to see the still shots and videos and they had taken of us all down the river. Sadly though, I was not able to stick around this year to see them all - and yes, they did actually get video of my fall in at Insignificant. In fact, another raft flipped at "The Box" rapid; they got that on video too. In times way past, I had opted for an 8x10 for $25. Last year I splurged on the 130 pictures of only my raft. You can buy a thumb drive of all the pictures they took of your raft for $65 (in 2020). At first, I thought that was pricey - then I realized that was only $0.50 per shot. Even if not all of them are good, there should be plenty of good one to choose from. Dave was a good guide and easy to talk to. In fact, while he was a Rafting Guide in Chile, Dave had met one my college classmate, Arlene Burns. Arlene trained Meryl Streep for her part in River Wild; she only had 4 days to get her trained. Now I know. Yes, it was a long drive from Memphis to enjoy an awesome float trip down the Gauley. But I bet there are some of you folks who live within an hour or two of the Gauley who have not yet "treated" yourself to this incredible thrill ride. Whether you live in the area, or if you simply are looking for a fantastic float trip, you truly owe it to yourself to come "experience" the thrill of Gauley Season! read more

We had the best time whitewater rafting this weekend at Adventures on the Gorge. This is one of the best weekend trips we've taken. Highly recommend requesting John Weekley as your guide- we plan on coming back and requesting him. He was a great instructor but also had all of us laughing during the trip. This was my second whitewater rafting experience. The first one didn't leave a big impression and I waited over 10 years to go again. Deluxe overnight upper/lower gauley ruined by awful guide. Was not able to keep the boat straight over the rapids, went over most everything sideways. Loaded the boat wrong, had all the heaviest people in the front so the boat was impossible to maneuver, extremely dangerous on the upper gauley. On the second day we chose on our own to rearrange people on the boat after discussion with other guides and it worked out much better. Could never hear instructions over the sound of the water - complained at least 50 times resulting in no change in his voice. Was blaming everyone but himself. Aside from the extreme risk posed by a guide with no experience in rapids, he was simply a jerk. Other team complained about rude guide. A previous trip was fantastic, the guides were great. read more

Incredible - the experience was more thrilling- adventurous - beautiful than anything I've done in so long. Adv on the Gorge was so well organized, efficient, lunch was great, and most of all, the guides make the experience. There were six in our grouping and you could tell how much knowledge they all had, about the history and handing the water. And making everyone feel a part of rowing team. A 70s road trip destination for these two 70 plussers. Started with a raft trip on the upper New River in late October. What a rush. My 4th such trip. 1st for my partner in crime. Loved it, though Will had some physical issues getting comfortable with the need for flexibility and balance. Mike, our guide was very accommodating and looked out for him. I've stayed here for the past three years during the offseason Nov/Dec for a comfortable base while I am climbing in the gorge and surrounding areas. I've only stayed in the cabins so that's what im reviewing. The staff is incredible helpful especially the one night I locked myself out on a Sunday they came out within 5 minutes to help get me back in thankfully because it was like 20 degrees outside. Guides, facilities and adventures are exciting and fun. Highly recommend some fun in WV. Stunning place. Did the rafting and zip lines. My only complaints pertain to setting up the trip and check-in. I would have chosen different Zip line adventure options had they been explained by the agent that set up my two day trip. I was told I was booked for a kayak trip and ended up on a raft. At check-in our room was not ready. OK. But, we were given no resort information at the desk. No suggestion to wonder to the observation deck and grab a drink. NOTHING. When the room was ready, the only information provided was directions to our cabin. Some orientation would be nice and expected. All in do spend time here. I can't wait to get on the Upper Gauley River again. read more

Ultimately, I'm really disappointed to have spent $300 a night for a family resort to feel like I was dropped in the middle of a teenager's sleep-away camp or a frat party. After ten, roving bands of teens or young twentysomethings in the streets had their phones out with flashlights shining everywhere (read: in the faces of the families that were trying to sit by their campfire), blaring music, and yelling chants for ages. They could be heard halfway across the resort. This resort has a wonderful, large communal area, and i would love for this group to have enjoyed themselves boisterously there instead of in the middle of the road next to cabins that people have to save up to afford for family vacations. Now, I never want to blame a resort for the behavior of its patrons and I have slept in my share of rowdy campgrounds at $30 a night, but this was not that. Much more concerning for so many reasons, I tried to call the security number for a gentle assist, and the number had been disconnected. Troubling. When I finally got ahold of a staff member (not easy), I was told different hours for quiet time than what was listed in the check-in docs. This review is complicated. I always want to give a fair review, but there are definitely pros and cons here. (This review is for the accommodations, and not the rafting, food, or adventures.) All that said, the resort was new and clean. I was impressed by the quality and size of the cabins. It was comprehensive and included a lot of on-site amenities. The pool was great and had two lifeguards (but they were on EarPods, seemed distracted a lot of the time, and didn't switch out very often, so just watch your own kids). The views were lovely. The accessibility of food, retail, and adventures was convenient even if the staff sometimes seemed lacking in confidence. Only concerns were the value for the money- for the expectation of safety and of being able to spend a family evening by the fire. Or sleep. read more

I stayed here for the first time when attending the Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation Building Bridges Conference in November 2017. The deluxe cabin that we stayed in was four bedroom, two bath with a hot tub. It was perfectly equipped, clean, and cozy. The front desk staff was very welcoming and offered pertinent information about our stay, surrounding attractions, hiking map, and more. Our conference was held in the event center, within walking distance of our cabin, and was a gorgeous location. The views are breath-taking. The food was fresh and perfectly prepared - not your average "conference food". We sneaked away one evening for a hike and at the advice of the staff we did The Endless Wall Trail. It was the perfect choice. Thankfully we happened upon a local on the trail who pointed us to the Diamond Trail (?) overlook, which is easily one of the top 10 best views I've ever seen in WV. Absolutely amazing. We are already planning a return trip to Adventures on the Gorge next summer for pleasure instead of work. read more

We recently went for a whitewater raft trip on the gauley river with this company. We had great service and a very memorable time. We had previously in the year did the new river and liked them so much we decided to go down the gauley with them. Lunch was great and plentiful and always look forward to the beer at the end of the trip. Both times we stayed in the cabins there and both were nice. During the new river trip it was me and my husband so we had a one bedroom one bath cabin and second time was a family cabin with two bedrooms two baths with pull out couches as we were bringing along my mom, stepdad, and oldest son. The family cabin we nice and quaint but the beds were spring mattresses the made loud sounds every time someone moved which did not make for a great sleeping experience. Overall I would still go back and rent a cabin. They also have a couple dinning options that are good as we felt after a long day on the river we didn't want to venture out to find food. read more

Highly recommend this place! All of the staff are friendly and welcoming. The food is amazing and the adventures are handled with care and filled with fun! You feel like you made new friends at every corner. The parks and facilities are extremely clean and maintained. The chicken wings and hamburgers are a must! My husband and I did a full day rafting trip with Mike K. He was so awesome and we had the best time laughing, rafting, swimming, floating down the rapids on the Gorge. We can't wait to go back! Such a beautiful place. Every guide was super chill. Lunch was family style which was pretty nice to just sit back and talk to people again and just be on the water. Mike was a wealth of knowledge and random fun facts. We ended the day with some brews and wings while watching our video in the pub. Totally recommend! One of the best couples day ever!!! read more
