Partly because there were no four seasons in the area (mostly joking) but also because we were in WeSt vIrGiNiA and wanted to get in touch with NaTuRe we decided to go outside of our cocmfort zone and picked some closer to nature options. This was the second. We went with Kaymoor at Adventures on the Gorge. Thjey have the full scale between literal camping and hotel-like, I believe we chose the most hotel-like option. I wanted to do the glamping but there were none available about a month before our trip when I finally got my shit together to book shit. Check in was super easy. We were given a key and a treasure map of how to get to our "cabin" which was easy to drive to. It is a legit cabin in the woods but will all amenities one would expect staying in the a hotel. Great bathroom and shower with a ton of towels, bedroom and separate lounge room that included a mini fridge. TV, wifi, climate control. There was even a cute little porch with chairs in the literal woods. It is so cool. AC worked great. The shower was great. They provided more towels than I'm used to getting at hotels. The bed was SUPER COMFY. I literally don't have enough good things to say about this place. Such a good choice.

We stayed in a beautiful cabin that was extremely clean and spacious with a picnic bench, firepit, and trees for hanging a hammock. We took a phenomenal 5 hour white water rafting trip down the New River with our very knowledgeable and personable guide, Greg! He guided us through huge rapids and even a thunderstorm! They even gave us snacks halfway through! We also zip lined with Adventures on the Gorge, and all of their employees are just so humorous and you can tell they love their jobs. 10/10 experience!!

Wildwater Expeditions is one of a conglomerate of different rafting companies providing tours of…read moreboth the Upper Gauley and the Lower New River in Fayettesville, WV. I thought this company was equal parts fun and professional, and I thoroughly enjoyed my latest whitewater rafting trip. The missing star is due to difficulties with directions for camping and a misunderstanding concerning the relative strengths of the different rivers during the month of April. Overall, however, it should be stressed that this is a fun bunch that also understands the nuances of the river. For each individual, it depends on what you are looking for as far as which whitewater group is right for you. If you are looking for the cheapest price without regard to training, you might want to go with Passages (just understand that during my trip an entire boat went swimming on a dangerous hydraulic that luckily ended only with one person's pants missing - it could have been far, far worse). If you are looking for the group that is going to be the most "daring", you might want to go with Songer. If you want a company that is going to lead you expertly and efficiently through the most dangerous waves, yet you still live to tell about it, then you want Wildwater. Our river guide for this trip was Bode (yes, I was initially disappointed because I thought the blonde-haired river guide was hot). He seemed like a relatively fun, nature-loving man who enjoyed spending time on the river. He had some ridiculous jokes, but I enjoyed his attempts to keep things light and entertaining. Most importantly, he took us through some crushing waves without losing anyone. He expertly guided us between two huge rocks that surely would have capsized our boat but for Bode's knowledge of the river currents. His awareness was especially acute when we were faced with certain danger based on a rival company's idiotic attempt to enter a class V rapid concurrently with our own group. We came out fine; they were lucky no one was seriously hurt. (And that, my friends, is why you pay extra money for trained river guides.) After our trip, our river guides treated us to some cold beer before we loaded up on a bus and headed back to base camp. We found some seriously cheap Great Lakes Mountain beer on sale as well and took advantage of it. After a fun, grueling day, we called it a night. I'm not someone who goes rafting every week, but I was impressed with this last trip. If you come to the New River Gorge for whitewater rafting, I'd strongly suggest you consider using these guides for your trip.

The flight itself was awesome, I didn't feel sick or uneasy (which can happen to me sometimes). The views were incredible. I cannot wait to go back and do it again. I would like to even take my children. I appreciate Ashley and Bill talking me through the process and making me feel some comfortable and making this an experience I will never forget.

Two of the ladies in the group could not participate in the white water river rafting the first day and while out exploring Fayetteville, saw the Ride in a Bi-Plane sign. They looked at each other said "we are going on a different adrenaline pumping adventure"! They both went up and came back to the resort with such enthusiasm, I just knew I had to take a ride myself. Chris the pilot was very accommodating and was able to fit me in. From the moment I was seated in the plane and Chris went over all of the safety instructions and strapped me in, I knew this was going to be exciting. The weather was absolutely gorgeous and I can say I was a bit nervous. But once Chris explained what was going to happen, I was relaxed and looking forward to what has always been a dream of mine to do. Once up in the air, Chris asks how much you would like to experience and what you think you can handle and then gives you a little test by pulling the plane upwards and seeing how that feels. He had me.....I wanted all of what that plane could do. It was the most thrilling experience I have ever had and I was very sad when the flight came to an end. Needless to say, back on the ground and back at our cabin, I was still flying high from the adrenaline and three of the other ladies decided to try it also. So the next day we went back out to the field and they also rode. I have attached a photo of our group and the smiles petty much say it all. Thank you Wild Blue Adventures for the life changing adrenaline ride of my life! I hope I can find my way back there again for at least one more ride for an hour or however long Chris can keep that plane in the air.
