Doesn't look like much when you walk in. Then you see the sign that echos what so many restaurants are going through. Help wanted, all food is made to order and may take some time, if that really bothers you feel free to fill out an application. Worth the wait! We had breakfast which contrary to what some people believe, can be screwed up. The food was delicious, cooked perfectly and the quality of product was evident. Driving along route 80 in the middle of Pennsylvania, having no clue of where to grab a quick late lunch, seeing a sign that isn't Subway or Denny's, we came upon this little gem. Far from fancy but welcoming and friendly. The food came fast, is reasonable and homey tasting. The Mountain Sandwich has fresh baked roast beef, nothing deli about it. I asked for soft boiled eggs, toast, and fresh veggies; the waitress bought this out; when cutting into the eggs I realized that they were completely HARD like a hard boiled egg so I did not eat it at all, I only ate the 5 super thin slices of cucumbers and half a toast, I wanted to have my order exchanged but the waitress did not come back to our table throughout the meal to check if everything was ok. When she finally came with the bill I asked her to remove this from our order she made a face and then ended up charging me $6 for the half toast and cucumbers. My boyfriend and my friends were satisfied with their portions, we would however not recommend this place. read more

Wow! On a recent road trip we spent the day hiking at Ricketts Glen skipping lunch so by the time we got back on the road we were more then hungry . We stopped at Twilight Diner and my husband and I both had the turkey dinner . Service was prompt and friendly and despite some construction that was going on the restaurant was very clean. Our meals were amazing . The turkey was fresh shredded off the bone not processed . The mashed potatoes were real and fresh no flakes . My favorite part was the homemade stuffing which were sort of nuggets and were delicious. The meal was topped off with a thick slice of homemade bread with butter and corn . We opted for gravy on the side which was also good and seemed house made as it was not too salty . We would definitely stop in again . read more

Great location right off 80. Does a big beer take out. Friday evening at 4pm, we stopped in for a meal while riding east from Ohio. I had turkey dinner with mashed and stuffing. It was served on nice big plates, full. Nicely displayed. He had fried fish and it was the size of the plate. Mac and cheese was a bit too healthy, I'd like a bit more cheesy and the stewed tomato's a bit strange as a side. All in all I'm the place was clean, great service and very good home cooked foods. I am here to talk about the mountain sandwich. Many good and accurate things have been said about the Twilight Diner in other reviews... So let's skip that and get straight to the sandwich. It seems to be their signature item. It takes a prominent place at the top of the menu; an intelligent marketing decision that I fall for almost every time I visit (which is about once a year with family living close by). It is a very tasty snack, but not very mountainous. Served with a small bag of potato chips, the main show is a standard size butter grilled white bread sandwich with mayo, tomato, lettuce, and sirloin steak. You can have a chicken or roast beef version as well, but I asked what is the most popular way to take it and sirloin was the answer... So steak it is! The steak isn't like a butcher-cut sirloin, but like a frozen break away patty I think usually used for Philly sandwiches; It makes the meat easier to eat in sandwich form, but it isn't what you are imagining when you think of 'steak'. The sandwich is tasty... And definitely not the best or most grand thing on the menu. I am always left a little dissatisfied and wishing I ordered what the rest of my family ate. I know it's a Twilight classic... but it needs an upgrade or a name change for those new customers expecting something that it's not. Btw... Upgrade to fries; The make good fries there. Located a block off Rt. 80 at the Loganton exit, lots of parking, handicapped level entry parking to the right side, choice of booths, stools, or tables, breakfast served until 1130, tried the sausage gravy over some buttered and then grilled biscuits, served straight from the kitchen piping hot, delicious, coffee served in a mug which is a requirement for breakfast, plenty of topping it off to keep it hot, large selection of cold beer to go, saw pies and cakes posted on board by door, went with German chocolate cake which was moist and excellent, chili to go had hunks of tomatoes, kidney beans, and had good homemade taste to it. So sad we passed it so many times before but not any more! Will stop each trip past it for some friendly service where the people don't make you feel like a bother and are glad that you stopped by. I will be a fan forever! My boys were traveling back to Dayton Ohio from the Poconos and had a pretty bad accident due to an ice storm. The car was totaled but my boys are OK. The tow truck dropped my boys off at the diner until my wife and I could get to them. The owner and his people really took care of my boys! They fed my boys and once we got there we also ate.
