Twiggs has a great atmosphere and great staff, the rest is lacking. In my opinion twiggs sells itself as a gastropub, elevated and inventive food at an acceptable price. I find It as an elevated price for unacceptable food. I have been multiple times, many times for their 'special ' nights. Taco Tuesday, more like more grease than john travolta's hair in grease. It literally pours from every individual taco. Burgers on Wednesday are mediocre at best. Wings on Thursday can be good, if they are cooked all the way. 50/50 toss up on that. To add to that drink specials are nothing special. Prices are high and value is average. I live in St A and i love supporting it, however I can't say anything good besides the terrific waitstaff that resides at twiggs read more

Have been several times now, mostly at lunch time, and recently for date night with my wife. Every time I have been the service has been quick and friendly, and the food has been great. The menu isn't huge, but this seems to be part of their formula for success. Everything they put on the menu they do very well. Will keep going back again and again. read more

Great service, great food and great atmosphere. We made a reservation for 8 (5 adults/3 kids). We arrived early and their staff immediately was accommodating to the adults and kids- getting drinks and coloring books. They set a new table so we could get seated early. Everyone enjoyed their great selection of burgers and side options. Tasty, cooked to order and quick. Nice selection of beers on tap to complement any of their food choices. We enjoyed the live music, too. This is now a regular stop for trips to the Burlington area and Monteal. read more

Do I talk about the friendly staff, who are willing to bend over backwards to meet special requests? Or, do I rate the music and entertainment that is provided weekly, making for not just a meal, but a "date night" to be enjoyed. Perhaps I should focus on the food, and eclectic mix of comfort food, with a twist that makes it different from your everyday chain restaurant. Or, I could talk about the owner, who doesn't sit back and bark orders, but is seen bussing tables, seating guests, answering questions, or, if needed, washing dishes. Can't say we have ever been here and had a good experience let alone a great one. Literally the last 3 times going to Twiggs we were sat promptly and then forgot about. No waitstaff ever came over to take our order until we asked someone what was going on. Every time we get the same answer of "sorry I didn't know I had this table". Food is unimpressive to say the least. Got their NY strip steak "special". Was full of fat that was not rendered properly and not an ounce of seasoning. Always sucks when you can cook a better steak yourself at one but just had to pay $30 for a terrible one read more

I came to Twiggs with my family on Sunday for lunch. The place was half full, but we were seated right away so we didn't expect to be there for over an hour and a half. We had to wait a while for our server, but she checked in with us and when she got to our table we were able to order right away. We tried to order the baked pretzels for an appetizer, but the waitress said they were all out. My husband ordered the steak salad and I the corned beef Ruben sandwhich. After over an hour we finally got our food. My husband said his salad was ok, but nothing to write home about. My sandwich was cold and soggy and the corned beef was full of fat. It also came with cold curly fries. I feel like this place could be good, but they definitely have some kinks to work out. Until they do save your money! read more

What an awful decision coming here. It was a slow Saturday afternoon, so I'm not sure why we had to wait an hour after ordering our 2 entrees. The haddock was overly smothered in butter, they forgot to put the egg in our salad, and the Bloody Mary tasted like it was made in a UVM dorm. Online says open until 11pm so does the in person hours, yet I have shown up here once at roughly 945pm and again at around 1020pm and both times they were closed. When I showed up at 1020 the wait staff already had all the chairs up and were just sitting at the bar waiting until 11pm. I asked if they were open and they just stared at me and then looked around the empty restaurant and said no. Change your online and in person hours to say closed at "when we are bored and business is slow". Such a shame because their food is good. read more

Not so impressed with the food or the service. Seems to me they just changed the menu and decor that was ciao Bella which was really bad.

I ordered oatmeal stout ! We all out but we have wheat beers poor substitute so I declined. Tried the hard cider it was weak and mediocre. I ordered a burger with smoked meat and deep fried pickles, coleslaw, lettuce and tomato on a kaiser roll. A 3 rd rating would have been way too generous for this SLOP the onion rings were soggy and when touched oil ran down my fingers I sent them back they were replaced with fries which were the only decent thing on my plate during the whole meal. The bun was dry and fell apart in the second bite, and the burger was not browned, the fried pickles were scarce and soggy flavorless mush, the lettuce was black wilted and sludgy not edible, the Dunns smoked meat was disgusting it was burned and flavorless a far cry from the real Dunns smoked meat that that I prepare at home. The waitress was new but good it's a nice location , comfortable seating, slow service not the London style pub food they claim, I'm from London and this would never be served in any decent pub. I have heard really good things about this place. My husband and I decided to go to dinner here for our anniversary. We called ahead, made reservations. Never being here, when we showed up they seated us in a booth in the bar area right around the corner from the bathrooms. There was no air conditioning and it was really hot out that day. We had NO idea that there was another part of the restaurant that had AC until right before we left. We waited for our food for over 45 minutes and when we reminded our waitress that we had been waiting a while, what she brought out was 2 very expensive plates of food that were garbage because they had been sitting under the heater for to long. Neither of us finished our meal. We paid $80 that night for crap food/service. When we called they did invite us in for a meal on them, however nice I think not. It wasn't worth the trip. read more

We went because someone bought us a gift card. We WILL be back! My wife ordered the chicken fingers and I ordered the 'Skillet of Chili'. The chicken fingers were chicken fingers...can't do much with that. But the chili was the best I have had in recent memory. Served in a small cast iron skillet, topped with a square of cornbread, and all covered with a layer of cheese before being browned in the oven. So good! We went at dinner time for the 1/2 price appetizers special. The crabby patties were good. We shared a burger with mozzarella sticks that came with sea salted homemade kettle chips. The burger was good. The kettle chips were horrible- WAY overcooked, and they definitely were not salted, totally inedible. We asked for a different batch and the waitress said they are all like that so we suggested something not fried. She suggested a ceasar salad but that there would still be an upcharge. How does that make sense? The salad was good. We were never asked if we wanted water or refills on beers. All in all, the food was OK but the service was horrible and I wouldn't go back here again. read more

I don't usually write reviews, but after numerous times at Twiggs I really feel the need to get everything out. I'm not super picky about restaurants, I'm the type of person who won't even send back food if my order is funky (mostly just because I don't feel like waiting for more food) I have been to Twiggs multiple times on both busy and slow days. The food is good, and the atmosphere is very hip and cool. However I cannot comprehended the length of time it takes for food to come out and the less than stellar service. The first time I went, a Tuesday afternoon, it took almost an hour for the appetizer alone to come, and another 20 minutes for food to come out. The subsequent trips have produced the same amount of time waiting for appetizers and meals to be delivered, regardless of how busy the restaurant actually is. Additionally the wait staff interaction is minimal at best, regardless of who our server is, besides taking our order and getting us our first round of drinks, it is like pulling teeth for them to come back to our table, you wait forever for your bill to come, even though you finished eating 20 minutes earlier. On our most recent trip, which was actually today, they were out of a bunch of food options, fried green beans and pickles, scallops, shrimp, several kinds of beers, it was a mess. Our food came out at odd intervals, for 7 entries, there was a half hour wait between when the first plate came out and the last plate, it was completely unacceptable. Additionally there were some issues with several of the entries, but honestly, we didn't feel like waiting even longer for the food to be fixed so we just ate. It's unfortunate since this was supposed to be a nice Father's Day dinner. I don't think we will be stopping by again any time soon. Gastropub...definition: A pub selling high class cuisine.: An establishment which serves World renown cuisine to highly respectable customers: : a pub, bar, or tavern that offers meals of high quality. Well it definitely IS NOT this place. I was soooo hoping that a restaurant worthy of spending hard earned money at would locate/open in Saint Albans. Chow Bella had it years ago but after the recent sale and new ownership it crashed and burned. I thought that the relaunch of Twiggs would change things but not. The only real locally sourced products served is the 14th Star beer. Waffle cut fries from (Sysco, US Foods etc) as well as most other products do not constitued "high class cuisine". Twiggs is my favorite place in St. Albans (and it Franklin County). GREAT food, friendly owner & staff and a modern ambience. The Mac & Cheese is HUGE and delicious, as are the burgers. I especially love sidewalk music & seating in the summer and the artwork inside. I've never had a bad experience with food or service and have been here 10+ times. Sometimes service can be a little on the slow side when it's packed, but that's to be expected and they are always very pleasant about it. I've eaten here three times. The first time the food was excellent, but the waitress completely ignored me and focused all of her attention on my boyfriend (clearly trying to get a larger tip). It was extremely rude and left a bad taste in my mouth about the whole experience. We've returned twice since then and the service was awesome both times. The food is always amazing. Let me start out by saying I have never left a review for any restraunt, but felt compelled after my experience tonight and signed up for yelp to share my negative experience. I live within walking distance of this place and have been there about 5-10 times. The food is pretty good, but the service is piss poor. There has been an issue everytime but they always give me free stuff for the incompetence so it works out. Today I called in an order for pick up and the girl says 25 minutes (pretty long time for a burger), I show up 25 minutes later and she never put it in. So she says 10 minutes and it will be out. After another 30 minutes (55 minutes total for a burger!) of waiting I get my food and guess what they mess up the order! Unbelievable and no discounts or free stuff. The service is unbearably slow...always. I've been three times hoping for improvement and have been disappointed each time. One time that I went the hostess wouldn't even seat me until the rest of my party arrived, she made me stand at the door and wait for them....seriously? Tonight, it took almost a half hour to get a glass of water and a Pepsi, forget about how long it took to get the food. The food was very good which is the only reason it gets two stars, but if you're looking for a place to get in, eat, and get out in less than two hours avoid this place like the plague. I for one will never be back if I can avoid it. If there is any number of guests in the restaurant they will be incredibly slow, to the point that by the time you get anything to eat you'll be so frustrated you won't even want to stay any longer. The food was not as stated on the menu. Poutine was ordered and the fries were hard and swimming in gravy. Our Chicken Quesodia was horrible and severed on flat bread. Only been here twice so far for takeout so this review may need to be amended in the future. The 2 star rating is because the first visit would have been 4 stars, unfortunately the second time would only be a 1 star. First time there the food was ready right away, got it home and still hot and not soggy at all, everything was very good. Also the ambiance seems very nice from what I saw. Second time had to wait over 25 minutes past when the order was supposed to be ready. Not even because they were busy at the time but it seemed someone in the kitchen forgot to put the order down. After they realized I had been waiting around for a while someone then put the order in. When it finally came up it appeared one part of the order was wrong and needed to be made again, but that meant the rest of the order was just sitting around getting soggy. The person who seemed to be the manager there was trying to deal with people in the kitchen to get the order together and realized how long I had been waiting but when the food was finally done it was just brought out by someone in the kitchen, no real apology or anything. When got the food home it was very soggy, you could definitely tell that some of it had been sitting around. Also with this order tried the waffle fries which we did not like at all, the regular fries which had got before were much better. Very frustrated with the second time there however since had a good experience our first time we will probably try it again and see if it will make it's way into the regular rotation of St Albans restaurants. *Update 01/26/14: Been back a couple times since last review and both times had very good experience. Food has been good and timely, very good ambiance at this place. Also they have very good take out boxes here, keeps food warm but doesn't get it soggy from the steam. read more

Food was good, waiter (Bob) was very attentive and helpful, interior decor looks great. Not a great selection craft brews, but happy they have local brew by 14th Star. The only major complaint I have was the noise level of the entertainment at the front of the restaurant. I was out for dinner with friends and all of us had to shout at each other and strain to hear one another, and we were sitting at the back of the restaurant. We even had a hard time hearing our waiter and he basically had to scream in order for us to hear him. WAY TOO LOUD!!! Customer service from Shannon is less than desirable. It took 2 and a half hours to have a drink and an appetizer and the waitresses attitude was the worst. Went for lunch mid day on Sunday. When the waitress finally showed up she proceeded to tells us that they were out of a lot. We ordered soup and a salad. When the soup arrived after a long wait it was cold so they took it back to the kitchen. Salads were done and no soup so we had find our waitress and ask for it.
