My son went in to rent a tux for his prom. The owner was not welcoming and could barely muster a few words to show us which tuxes were rentals. He quickly took my son's measurements and replied curtly to whatever questions we had. Fast forward a few weeks to when my son put on the tux right before prom, I noticed that the pants were huge in the waist and short in length. He is a slim 32 waist and was given a 34! For them to be so short with a larger waist he gave us the wrong length too. They looked horrible on him,but it was too late for us to go back to the store. My son was very upset and the pictures show the result. Very disappointing experience! It's a shame because just a little effort in his work would have made a huge difference. read more

My son just rented a tux from this place. He wanted his bow tie to match the girls dress, the owner was difficult and not very customer friendly, he made color recommendations that didn't match and then got defensive. When we returned the tux, we told him the pants have a small tear and that the button fell off my sons jacket when he first tried it on, his response was, "your son probably pulled it off....and a small hole in his pants should be the least of his worries, do you see what's going on in this world." We were not looking for a break on the price or a handout, just expressing our experience. He said we were difficult and had been assholes since we first stepped foot in his store. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE!! I recently went to this place for my husband's wedding tuxedo, as well as the groomsmen for our upcoming wedding in September. From day 1, it was one unpleasant experience after another. I tried to be understanding that maybe there were moments where Frank, the owner, was simply busy and overwhelmed so I just put my feelings aside and continued to move forward with the process hoping it would work out. But his consistent rudeness, unwillingness to be helpful, and general nasty attitude led me to cancel my order altogether. Anytime I called, it's like he was constantly annoyed or in a bad mood. It's very easy for a customer to discern when someone could care less to help you with your order, even more so when they are annoyed by simple questions and concerns. When I cancelled my order, I was flat out lied to by Frank! He said he would not be able to refund me completely, I would lose $50 but be returned the $150 remainder, which I said fine, I understand. He said he would call me the following day to let me know if my credit card was on file so that he could issue the refund. I have yet to hear back from him, as I'm still waiting for his call. Now I feel even worse because my parents went in person to cancel and get their refund on my dad's tux. He refused to refund them anything. He kept their $50 and said the $150 remainder is now a store credit!!! This man is horrible, TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE and ABSOLUTLEY AWFUL BUSINESSMAN. Needless to say, we hope to get some resolution by going directly to our credit card companies for a refund. read more

I originally went here to get a tuxedo for a high school prom because this place was close by me, but after my experience there, I would travel halfway around the world just to come to this place. It's small enough to give you its full undivided attention when finding what you need but the inventory is everything that you could ever need for an occasion. This freakin guy. I drive by earlier and see he's got a "50% off sidewalk sale" and say to myself ok we will stop by after soccer practice. Support a local biz. I go in with my daughter and it's now raining so he's got everything brought inside. He's trying to sell me so hard from the moment I walk in. He plays dumb to the sale he's advertising and says everything is brand new even though it's clear they are tuxes he's rented that he is now trying to sell. Why else would they be 50 off? Even select ones? He's got them on rental hangers and he's telling me they are brand new. Pshh. He tells me I'm a 42 and I'm a 40L. That is made obvious after I try two of his 42s on He hands me. Clearly used suits. Me who has had suits made for him for 20 years from Joseph Abboud to John Varvatos, to Henry Duarte and J Lindburg. What a tool. Piece of advice don't try to con a con man and don't judge a book by its cover. Just because I looked like some rock n roll hipster. You should have said yeah these are well-maintained suits that I've rented in the past and I'm trying to thin out some of my product. I'll make you a deal. A friend recommended this store to me, saying it's cheap and easy. Well when I found myself inside this place, it was anything but. The owner was extremely difficult, he made constant mistakes on my families orders and we found ourselves driving back and forth, to and from his establishment the day before a very important wedding. Also, the owner showed extreme attitude and temper problems when we told him the issues, he can't admit that he's wrong... Now this guy is straight up Italian and maybe people think he comes off as a little rude because he is direct and to the point. It's a business, he has been there a long time, obviously he knows what he is talking about. If you are one of those overly sensitive people who need everything sugar coated then he may not be for you. I rented shoes at Tuxedo world for a black tie wedding. one minute after walking in the shoes I noticed the heel had come loose. Being on Long Island, I had no way to exchange the shoes. When I informed the owner, he said it's not his fault and there is nothing he could do about it, but luckily since I paid for the damage waiver, I would not be charged for the damage that I must have caused. That is what I call terrible customer service. For a $30 refund, he could have had a good repeat customer. Never- and I mean NEVERRRR- rent a tux from this place (or their other location in sparta)!!! My husband and I got married in November, and decided beforehand that we'd use Tuxedo world in Sparta. The entire experience was a nightmare. I was cursed out and hung up on by the business owner (in Wyckoff) after we paid for 2 tuxes, but found out they lied about the pricing. The owner proceeded to tell me I tricked him and that I shouldn't be whining about the couple hundred dollars he overcharged, because I'd probably spent thousands of dollars on the flowers and dresses. He told me if I wasn't happy I should cancel the order and go to men's warehouse. So when I told him I'd like to cancel the order, he refused.. Told me to stop whining and he didn't have time for me, then hung up!! I called his son at the other location (the one we were originally working with) and told him to cancel the order and that I would be contacting the BBB for deceitful business practices as well as posting on all review sites as well as their Facebook pages. He apologized profusely for his father, explained he is going through a bad divorce and was making poor business choices but agreed it was no excuse, and stated they don't need bad press for their new location. He changed the price, even though I was reluctant to continue working with them for fear theyd mess up on our wedding day, but didnt want to lose the money we already paid. Well sure enough our wedding day came around and NONE of the suspenders fit! It was as if they were child's suspenders ordered. Please save your money and run far away from this business! Awful customer service. Rented a tux several months in advance, was told to call 3-4 weeks prior to wedding date for fitting and if I want to make any changes (undecided about some details). Called 3-4 weeks and was given attitude for calling. The owner is rude and unpleasant to talk to over the phone. Very unprofessional. I called the week of pickup to ensure that the tux would be there when The receipt said it would be. He yelled at me on the phone to tell me that I must not have checked the receipt because if I had it would have been crystal clear that it would be ready on thurs and not weds. Feeling insulted, I checked the receipt and was right, when I called back he called me a little "snot" and said I was harassing him... FOR ASKING ABOUT MY ORDER THE WEEK OF MY WEDDING! He told me to take my money elsewhere because he didn't want to work with me, and when I asked for his name, his reply was, "My name is Frank, I'm the owner, so if you want to write a stupid letter it'll come right to me!" Unfortunately, I could not rent from anywhere else on such short notice (2 days). I was left feeling insulted and disgusted at Frank's customer service despite exclaiming that he had been working with people for 30 years and knew what he was doing. I am appalled at such behavior and was really disappointed in him, and Tuxedo World. Do not rent here, Mens Wearhouse has a great selection, more locations, and is ridiculously accommodating. I would like to give a big shout to Tuxedo World and Frank for making all of my sons Groomsman and my son look llike GQ models. There were no issues with any of their tuxedos and he even had to fit a BIG GUY!! Also, which is hard to believe in todays world, Frank just called me and told me that Cosentino from Careful Cleaners who was cleaning the guys tuxedos had found an envelope that one of the guys had forgotten to give to my son. Good place. I went the day before an event to rent a tux, on a word-of-mouth recommendation, and can now pass the recommendation along. The owner was very friendly and helpful, and managed to get me all set up even while wrapping up with another customer. Getting fitted and choosing what I wanted took only about 15 minutes, and as a bonus I learned I've been buying the wrong size suits all these years. They have a good selection of styles available, including vests and ties. I went with a subtly striped jacket that fit better than I'd ever have expected from a rental. Everything was ready to go for me when I picked up earlier than expected the next day, and I found it perfectly clean and in excellent shape. No problems or surprises when I took it out to get dressed. Price was $160 for the tux (including shirt, vest, tie, and cufflinks) + $30 for the shoes, and for Friday pickup I had until Monday to return. Dropping off was a breeze. I'll happily come back the next time I have an excuse to go black-tie. read more
