Do not shop here! Worse customer service ever encountered. First over the phone they would not search for an art item in their system and had no idea they carried even though we were reading SKU # from the website. To add insult to injury we were cruising by Laguna Beach store and stopped in. The sales person didn't want to be bothered to assist and told us she could "research" whether the item could be bought later! She was not busy and turned away to chat with coworker. In the end we found the exact art work online through Perigold the upscale version of Wayfair for $300 cheaper. read more

I get my candles and Wall decor from here and now they have fabulous lotions .... truth be told I want to buy a cottage by the beach just so I can decorate it with everything from this store! ... every time I go in this store I just want to either live there, work there or linger for a while and daydream. Super cute home decor and furnishings! Very beachy and coastal. Useful items too like dish towels, glassware and silverware. A good spot to pick up a gift, a picture frame or bigger items like customized furniture, rugs and pillows. Probably overpriced but given what they probably pay in rent, I'm not surprised. Really well curated stuff and adorable live birds too (to view. Not for sale). My reason for the 2 stars: the prices and because twice now I've made purchases there and found the staff to be cold and unfriendly. I'm a local so it's always a little surprising that a retail shop in a town in desperate need of consumers wouldn't have extra friendly staff. Hoping that changes in the future. I'm a LB resident and if I'm downtown have to stop in! The staff is so nice, it's a beautiful store and my favorite place to get gifts! They gift wrap beautifully and it's complimentary! A wide range of pricing so you'll find something at any budget! Wonderful lighting, art and furniture if you're in the market for that as well! I've been here three times and I've never been greeted by a single person at this store. Usually, the person at the front desk is an old white woman who warmly speaks with other customers and even says hi to others, but promptly ignores us. My friend even said hi to her first (after she said, "Hello, welcome." to visitors right next to her. She just looked straight and ignored us. Again. I suppose it's because we're not white because the trend is that she only greets white people (the lady who runs the store is also white, shockingly). It's hilarious because a ton of her white guests were commenting on how overpriced the selection was. By the way, most white guests she greets make subtle comments when the owner isn't around, saying things here "can't be that expensive" as they hawk at the prices. I'm inclined to agree, they're way too expensive. The art is poor, the selection is rather pathetic, and the quality is abysmal. An easy pass. Terrible service and terrible selection. I don't support racist owners like the one here. read more

This is on my hit list each & everytime we're here in Laguna Beach. As soon as you walk in your senses of smell is hit by a aray of wonderfully scented candles. I usually start to the right and look at each item from top to bottom. They have beautiful lighting fixtures to gorgeous rugs ..... So Take Your time! You might possibly miss that one unique piece that's calling your name. This store definitely caters to the local community, in style & price. But there is a lot of very reasonable priced items that won't make you gasp for air. Today I fell in love with a sectional. It was possibly the most comfortable thing my butt has ever sat in. Cool cream & green color with cozy cushions, sat there until my hubby made his way to me . I say to him " Hey! I really love this couch! What about downstairs in the family room? He sits down and agrees that it's awesome! I see a smile on his face and I'm already picturing it in my house..... then he flips cover the price tag...... $7,295! What?! The picture soon faded away but I'm sure it's all ready gone by today. They cater to the community, and be prepared to fall in love with basically the whole store but possibly walking out with a few basic items. I've purchased quite a few items from here throughout the years, and the quality has stood up to date. Jewelry, dishes, mugs, candles, bottle openers, throw blanket , wind chimes and couple of other few items. They do sell gorgeous decor. One thing you must do ladies, is to look over the jewelry at the front counter. Absolutely gorgeous and unique one of a kind items. Their all handmade by a wonderful & very talented artist. I'll be back again to browse and find something that i love. There's no question. ..... But 1 day , I'll buyout the store when i hit the Super Lotto! I must have that couch!! read more

This over-priced store definitely has the WORST sales people around. The way they treat customers is just unacceptable, and makes you wonder why they bother open door for business in the first place. I had an awful manner-less, bottled-blonde old sales woman THREW my credit card back after swiping and blatantly rolled her eyes a couple times at me when inquiring about gift wrapping options. I had never bother to review other shops and places before, but this shop is just terrible enough I feel responsible to warn off others to better spend their time and money elsewhere. read more

I was recently on a birthday vacation to So. Cal. While there, we spent a day in Laguna Beach. LOVE this town! And, LOVE this shop! They have the most amazing displays and the shop has a great vibe. They are friendly, but, don't follow you around the store. They leave you alone to take it all in. I could have brought home a suitcase full of stuff, but, settled on a beautifully handcrafted clay (heavy) cross, with a lovely shell motif. Actual shells form a design on the front....it's already hanging on my wall and I was there 2 days ago! The shop has so many amazing items. They have glassware, wall decor, awesome signs for your wall...would be great for a beach home! I didn't give it 5* only because some items are a bit on the high priced side, but, this IS Laguna Beach afterall. :) It's an artsy town and this is a great place to stop. They sell home decor books, furniture, shells, wall art, tchotchkes of all types. I do regret not buying a clear, green glass cross. May have to call and see if they ship! One of the best decisions we have ever made was to use the design services of Tuvalu. In particular, we were assisted by Laurie and Franny. We have worked with designers in the past, both independent and as offered by a store, but we have never had such a successful and satisfying experience. For a very low fee (substantially lower than what is charged by most other designers), which is applied to any purchases, they listened carefully to the vision we hoped to create. They used design boards so we could determine if they were on the right track and re-direct as necessary. But best of all, after furniture and accessories were installed, if something was not to our liking (though nearly everything was), they took it away, no questions asked! This is pretty much unheard of with most other design services. In fact, we were astounded by the effort they put into ensuring we were pleased with the final result. Laurie and Franny are true visual artists. Their styling is impeccable. They gladly incorporated and worked with our existing things. They made sure it felt like our home and never forced their design preferences. The end result was far better than we could have imagined! We love how our home turned out and have received many compliments on how comfortable and beautiful it looks. read more

Meh . . This place is one-note (beach-themed stuff) and seriously overpriced. Since I drive past nearly daily, I've stopped in several times over the years. And each time, the selection has been the same: pillows, candles, books, dishes, jewelry and some furniture. Usually with a rustic, beach theme. Perhaps Meg Tilly, who happened to be browsing here one day when I dropped in, said it best in talking to her friend, "Nothing here I can't find in L.A.". Tuvalu's end game is convincing shoppers that we want our homes to look like the store: Hire the interior designer-owner to decorate your home. This review is meant for the San Clemente location only. Was working with a lovely lady, Karen, for 2 days while she was helping me find the right pillows for my sofa. When I initially entered she mentioned wearing a mask. Once I told her that my asthma was severe and wearing a mask was not possible she was fine and went on to help me with pillows, sizes and colors. She allowed me to take a pillow out on memo to return it the next day if I saw that it would not work for me. Brought it home and it was an amazing match. I was happy. So I returned the next day to pay for the pillow and to buy the other matching pillow. This was a $400.00 purchase. HOWERVER, as I entered the following day, excited to buy the other pillow, I was met with a tall greasy blonde who immediately jumped towards me and with her nastiest voice told me to put on a mask. She actually frightened me. I responded, 1) I was there to pay for the pillow I'd taken on memo and 2) had planned to purchase the matching pillow, as well. She was the snarkiest sales person I'd ever met. When I told her I was there to pay for a pillow AND that my asthma forbids me from wearing a mask she went over and grabbed the other pillow making sure that I did not travel any further into the shop. I followed through with the sale and then it struck me that a $400 sale should be met with a nicer entrance than what I received. Then the other sales lady decided to make it her business and asked me what my medical problem was that I couldn't wear a mask. Apparently, she's unaware of HIPPA, but I told her, nonetheless. I got home and decided that I could probably find the pillows, even at the same expensive price, from a nicer shop who knows how to treat customers. So I returned the pillows today. As I walked in there was the same greasier hair blonde present. I told her that I wanted to return the pillows based on the way I was abused the day before. Her response was, "after all of that???" Seriously, does this lady know the first thing about working with the public? I told her, as I was leaving, that she should have thought about that sale before she became snarky with me. I got my refund, told her I would be writing a Yelp and Google review. Then I left. I'm a 40 year resident in San Clemente, know almost all of the business owners, but will never return nor promote Tuvalu, ever. Other than Karen, the rest were not fit to be around public. Major disappointment. I was ready to spend some money there on my house. Not any more. read more

I found some items I liked for my vacation home on a lake that I'm decorating like it's a beach house. Lots of "beachy" stuff in this store. However I would recommend you NOT purchase items if they are being shipped to you. I ordered glasses, "knotty@ door stops, hurricane lamp and a hanging light fixture. The items I purchased from a few stores remained in boxes in my garage until the move. I finally unpacked them when we moved in and saw that the one box they sent did NOT contain the light fixture. When my designer inquired, they sent the UPS packing slip which stated glasses, knots and light. The light that was in the box was the hurricane lamp, not the chandelier. I have since made three attempts over the past month to get proof that a second box with the chandelier was sent. They have entirely ignored these emails, perhaps hoping I'll just give up. I worked with interior decorator's in the past with homes I've owned in Newport Beach and Newport Coast. Tuvalu's design team is by far the best too work with. They exceed my expectations every time. They have spent hours at my house and take their time to get things right and to make their clients happy. They respond immediately to requests or changes. They are all so fun to work with instead of making the process seem arduous. As far as the store it is beautiful if you love beach decor, amazing gifts, and collectibles. read more

This home furnishings store in the touristy area of Laguna Beach is quite expensive. I looked at the price tag of a single chair and it was $3100. The style of the decor is beachy. The employees aren't friendly either. I walked through the whole store on a weekday afternoon and I couldn't even tell you where the employees were. I love this store and have recommended it to many of my friends.It is worth the drive up the coast to Laguna! The staff is very helpful if you have a question but happy to let you explore all the great finds without interruption. There is something here for everyone who likes the beach and surf lifestyle, with a wide range of prices. Wow!!!! I would give this place zero stars for customer service if I could!!!! I have been ignored so many times at this location it is unbelievable. This past Sunday I stood at the jewelry case for well over a minute while three employees chatted about ones upcoming trip to Palm Springs. I can't believe this place stays in business, I did notice the one is San Clemente closed. There is a beautiful, ornate necklace and I'm sure it had a hefty price tag and I probably would have purchased it because I came to Laguna Beach to purchase jewelry and ended up spending a pretty penny across the street at a store where I was greeted and smiled at. Tuvalu is my all time favorite store!! I never visit Laguna without a trip to this gem that never fails to make me feel right at home. There are endless amounts of treasures to be found here. This store looks legit like my dream home... that being said a lot of the merchandise will have to stay there, my dreams, due to some of the prices. I love furniture and will say tho that the chairs they have set up as dining I am in love with and for $500 a piece, actually pretty reasonable considering.... I have only been to this place once so do not know if they have sales or better prices on more everyday decor items. This place is beach traditional theme so if that is not your vibe than probably will not love this store. The lady at the counter was very sweet also, which in Orange County and Laguna, that can be a rarity. read more

Not only do they have unique beach oriented gifts, but their flare for presentatkon allows one a shopping experience that is very relaxed and comfortable. The staff has always been mist helpful on our visits. It is a fantastic place to get Xmas gifts and I love their xmas ornaments. We only get there sporatically, but always enjoy this shop. read more

I really just love this store. Everything in it I want for my house. It's all seaside and beach inspired decor. Shells, seaside glass dishes, coral beaded pillows and frame photos. It's a little pricey, but they have great taste and I've bought some very reasonable pieces here. My favorite is a tray with those old french prints of some urchins on it. Every time we go to Laguna Beach, we like to stop by this store. They have wonderful things for the home, ranging from new to vintage. Really great furniture pieces, sofas, home accessories, soaps, candles, small gifts, stationary and jewelry. All things seem to be unique. I have purchased a couple of items from here for our home. The staff are nice and last night, we met the owner whom was super sweet and even gave the doggie with us a treat! There is no doubt that Tuvalu has beautiful things, and it is inevitable that you will find something you can't live without upon every visit. However, I've finally had it and certainly won't be back based solely on the salespeople. They always seem way too busy to acknowledge you and when you finally catch their eye for some assistance, they act like you are bothering them. They are actually downright rude! When I asked them to give me a call when an out of stock item came in, it was suggested that I "simply pop by the store every other day or so to see if it had arrived." Sure, I'll pop downtown every other day to check on an item...since I guess the employees think I have nothing better to do with my life. Ultimately the store gives off a bad vibe. This isn't just one or two of the salespeople...this is every single one of them every single time I am in the store. If you find that one thing you really can't live without, good luck with the salespeople at the front counter...because goodness know they will not have acknowledged you while you were browsing their store. Personally, I've had enough and will take my business to other local stores within our town of Laguna Beach. read more
