But when we arrived there had been a mixup with housekeeping, and the room had not been cleaned. They had first said they would send housekeeping right away, then offered to upgrade us to a cabin. The cabin was quite nice, and the bed was very comfortable. The only difference was the suite included bath towels. In the cabins you had to bring your own, so there were no towels. But that was OK, because we had brought bath towels, not quite understanding the website. Great value for the money, and I would definitely come back here again.

Each had their own approach, but the new owners are really taking this place in the right direction. The cabins have all been given a facelift without sacrificing the feel of a lake side cabin. One of our favorite things are the pontoon boats that you can rent by the day or for your whole stat. On our very first visit we experienced the joys of Nibbles, a small eatery/ice cream shop on the property. The new owners have aggressive plans to revive this sweet spot which will surely be a favorite stop for all who live on the lake! You will not be disappointed in this cute little gem of a property just minutes from downtown Colon, Michigan (which is also accessible via boat!) The town is host to several great restaurants as well as some awesome magic shows! The salon in town is a welcome stop if you forgot to get your toenails painted before you arrived! Treat yourself to a weekend (or a week) on the lake at Palmer Lake Lodges!!

I honestly felt like I walked through a wardrobe into a Narnia world. The small sign at the drive was a bit tough to see, so as your map tells you you're close, slow down and look for the Bed and Breakfast sign. The vibe here is full on beautiful Pinterest, French countryside garden chateau. Everywhere you look there is something beautiful to see, from the outdoor pavilion to the stately rooms inside. The ivy covered buildings and gardens bursting with blooms are great backdrops for any photos. The wedding I attended was on a super hot, sunny June day, but there were plenty of amenities provided to guests to alleviate the heat: shade parasols, handheld electric fans, folding fans, and plenty of cold water. This was such a thoughtful touch and really helped make guests comfortable. The mansion in the background was a stunning view for the short but sweet ceremony. Once the ceremony concluded, we were greeted by staff members with water and wine and were directed to a courtyard for hors d'oeuvres and an outdoor bar. There were areas of shade from trees and umbrellas, which was a nice reprieve from the sun. The food was all perfectly arranged and the bacon wrapped date I had was a delicious sweet and savory bite! Molly and Jenn were pouring drinks with big smiles despite the heat. We were ushered into the main reception area -- a beautiful, airy, open pavilion -- by a tinkling dinner bell! Dinner was delicious and all staff members I interacted with were incredibly polite and professional. I was really blown away by the details and care put into this celebration at this amazing venue! Hopefully I can attend another wedding there someday. If you need a beautiful place to get married, look no further than Greencrest Manor.

Having lived in…read morethe Paw Paw/Lawton area for 30 years, I have driven by their sign, saw their ads, but literally had no clue what to expect. From the moment we pulled in and drove down the long drive towards the resort, I knew I was in for special evening. It felt like I had awaken in a different age and time. The lodge is over 100 years but beautifully maintained. Eating on the front enclosed porch was a delight and so peaceful to look at beautiful Lake Cora. My mind kept wandering to what this area was like back in the 1920s when there were 2 resorts on Lake Cora and a train that brought people from the Chicago area. What a magical time that must have been. Bob and Susan are delightful hosts. They love Oak Cove and it shows in all the lovingly details throughout. Antiques are plentiful in every room, old photos and newspaper clippings that have been framed are hung on the walls. It's like walking into a time capsule. Touring the Lodge I kept saying this is so cool, I love this, how adorable. Every room is unique and special. Dinner at Oak Cove Resort is amazing. Everything is prepared and cooked in their kitchen and a lot of the items are from scratch. We started the evening off with a salad from the most unique salad bar ever - an old antique bed, covered with a beautiful quilt, and topped with a glass panel that holds all the delicious salad fixings. The lettuce was very fresh, a huge amount of toppings to chose from, and lots of different dressings. Monday night is Roast Beef night and Bob serves up the tenderest roast beef that I have had. The slice was just perfect for me. Mashed potatoes with homemade gravy (no words can describe how delicious this is), and helping of peas, and dinner roll. You can also add a dollop or two of horseradish sauce. If that wasn't enough, dessert was a chocolate brownie with ice cream. I literally thought I was in heaven. On top of that the coffee was just how I like it. We then walked around the resort. The Funhouse, filled with old arcade machines, books, puzzles, card table, TV, and bar, would definitely be fun place to hang out. The in-ground pool was very clean and is a big. The beach area had Adirondack chairs set up to sit and relax. Individual cabins are scattered through the grounds, along with a huge area for kids to run and play. What a memorable evening. My next to-do is to book an evening or two at the Oak Cove and transport myself to another time where life seemed slower and simpler.

Breakfast is delicious and it was a good mix of fresh, healthy and with a few sugary goodies like donuts and muffins. It's a really wonderful, relaxing and quiet adult only resort.

My husband booked Tusken House #1 for several days when he couldn't find anything else in the area. There is a reason this was the only room left in town. We arrived after 11 PM as we took our time coming up and stopped at various towns along our trip from Illinois. The door was unlocked (as expected), all the lights were on, and our last name was written on the white board. I really didn't like that part due to safety. Nobody needs to know our last name and what is there to stop anyone from the street who knows the operations from entering and taking one of the two keys left inside? The "cottage room" had the smallest bathroom ever, right off the kitchen. There is no way two people can get ready at the same time. The curtains were wide open and were a complete joke. They were sheer, so everyone could see in while the lights were on. Not so much a big deal until we needed to get changed for bed, or dressed in the morning. The only two places to do that with privacy were the large closet, which was bigger than the bathroom, and the miniature bathroom, that is so small my 6th grader even had to dress in the shower. The main room had a chair that was filthy and it had a stain left from someone who needed a shower who instead sat on it naked. I'd leave it to your imagination, but I took pictures to post as proof. The futon was in worse condition than the one I had in my college days, but the main room was the only room with a window A/C unit and a ceiling fan, so that's where I slept. While some rooms on the website show ceiling fans above the beds, this is purposefully cropped because the bedroom was beyond stuffy on a hot, sticky summer night. My husband slept in one bed and my son in the other. They slept with the door open in hopes of getting the air to circulate into the bedroom, but it wasn't a large enough window unit for two rooms. Additionally, because this is an old house, the electricity should have been updated. Instead, there were multiple extension cords for the window unit and lamps. In the bedroom there even more extension cords for the lamps and clock, and no place to plug in a charger. It amazes me that this place hasn't had an electrical fire. It was actually quite worrisome. The kitchen had a coffee machine and I finally found coffee in the cabinet, but there were no coffee mugs. The toiletries included body soap and shampoo. No conditioner. They said they don't supply conditioner. What? I found that our when we had to call for a hair dryer that didn't exist either. The reviews all over the internet about this place rave about the pool. Well, the sold the pool last year. They conveniently did NOT mention this when my husband booked the room. The back of the house is gated off and locked with do not trespass signs posted everywhere. There was no mention of the pool in the note left on the desk by the keys, yet there is still a picture of the pool hanging in the main office behind the desk where we took the keys when we checked out first thing in the morning. The parking for this house had three spots as there are three different rental spaces. The people in the second unit had a very large pick up truck that was not parked in the center of their space and our spot mark for unit 1, has the back of the a/C unit in the way, in addition to needing to drive over the grass to get into a spot. It was useless. Thankfully there was plenty of street parking across the street. No car could have parked there with the window air conditioner in the way, not even a smaller compact car. Thankfully they found someone else to book the room so we weren't changed two more nights. We would have had the credit card company disputed it if they had. This was that bad. They are clearly hurting for money, selling the pool and several of the properties had for sale signs in front of them. We were lucky enough to find another room at the newly renovated hotel at a neighboring town. Same price with all the luxuries of a nice hotel and everything was brand new and super clean, plus a coffee shop in the lobby. This is by far the longest and most detailed review I've ever posted. All the reasons why are posted. If they aren't there, I've blocked them out. Don't make the same mistake we did.

The food ordered was a strawberry/spinach salad, shrimp quesadilla, chicken sandwich (no bread) and grouper (no bread) sandwich. The salad was typical for a lunch salad and friend said it was good. My grouper was thin and small. Three of us ordered the slaw as a side; it was overdressed (drippy) and a very small serving. Friend with the chicken and me went away still hungry. We've eaten here before and the servings were appropriate for lunch; not this time. This was disappointing for an $80 meal tab.
