This is a cute and very reasonable priced place to stay right on the lake…read more We originally were going to stay in a suite, not a cabin. But when we arrived there had been a mixup with housekeeping, and the room had not been cleaned. They had first said they would send housekeeping right away, then offered to upgrade us to a cabin. The cabin was quite nice, and the bed was very comfortable. The only difference was the suite included bath towels. In the cabins you had to bring your own, so there were no towels. But that was OK, because we had brought bath towels, not quite understanding the website. Great value for the money, and I would definitely come back here again.

Each had their own approach, but the new owners are really taking this place in the right direction. The cabins have all been given a facelift without sacrificing the feel of a lake side cabin. One of our favorite things are the pontoon boats that you can rent by the day or for your whole stat. On our very first visit we experienced the joys of Nibbles, a small eatery/ice cream shop on the property. The new owners have aggressive plans to revive this sweet spot which will surely be a favorite stop for all who live on the lake! You will not be disappointed in this cute little gem of a property just minutes from downtown Colon, Michigan (which is also accessible via boat!) The town is host to several great restaurants as well as some awesome magic shows! The salon in town is a welcome stop if you forgot to get your toenails painted before you arrived! Treat yourself to a weekend (or a week) on the lake at Palmer Lake Lodges!!

They have an icecream shop inside where you can purchase cones, sundaes or milkshakes. The pool is nice and open til 10:00pm and you can go outside and sit around the fire pit until 11pm. Also, they have a very nice breakfast bar that is included in your stay.

The Inn/Hotel was beautifully decorated for fall, and we really enjoyed the seasonal atmosphere…read more The pictures and prints in our room all featured Amish themes, which added to the charm. We attended a concert at the Blue Gate venue next door, so for convenience, we decided to stay at the Blue Gate Inn. Breakfast was what you would expect, with made-to-order omelets, waffles, and other options. We had a double-bedroom room, and the total costs was $344.99 including fees. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing when it came to the cleanliness of the bathroom. The toilet had a BLACK rim around the inside of the top of the toilet. it was absolutely disgusting! You couldn't see it standing in front/top of toilet. It was visible when standing in bathroom doorway. This was not something that could be attributed to one missed cleaning. A toilet does not become that back without a significant buildup. A couple of days after our visit, I called Blue Gate Inn and informed a woman about the situation, including our room number. She asked if I had reported it to the front deck. We were in a hurry when we checked out, so I had not. I explained that if I owned the Inn, I would absolutely want to know about something like this so it could be addressed. She indicated that she would inform the manager and housekeeping. Several days have now passed, and I have NOT heard anything back. I wasn't necessarily expecting anything other than a response acknowledging the concern and letting me know it would be addressed. I thought that would be a reasonable expectation after bringing a cleanliness issue to management's attention. I guess I shouldn't have assumed that would happen. The location was convenient for the concert, and the Inn was beautifully decorated, but the condition of the bathroom toilet, expense of room and the lack of follow-up definitely left me disappointed.

We've been going to Turtle Lake for more than 10 years on and off (wish it could be more often)…read more We've stayed in the lodge and now have a small motorhome. Both types of quarters have their qualities- just depends on how you like to vacation. There are so many things to do here! Beautiful indoor pool. Really nice tiki bar next to the "conversation pool", a rec building with pool, darts, cards... There are volleyball nets, shuffleboard, mini golf, pickleball courts and more! We've never stayed in one of the"park model" units, but they look lovely. There are dances on Saturday nights and themed weekends during the summer. We love it out here. A couple things to keep in mind: This is a FAMILY resort. There are a few families with kids. Sort of took me by surprise when we first visited, but everyone is very relaxed and take all things in stride. This is NOT a swingers place. No one is looking to "hook up". No one cares about the size of your butt or whether you have weird surgery scars. This is a place where everyone enjoys what you can't do most other places: relax, feel comfortable in your own skin and meet new friends. As a woman, I can honestly tell you I was freaked out about going the first time. We're taught to obsess about cellulite and wrinkles. I've never felt as confidant and comfortable as I do at TLR. It becomes obvious right away that no one judges you... about anything! Once you shed your clothes, no one can tell if your rich or making this the one vacation you can take every couple of years. You don't have to compare yourself with a anyone else on any level. And guys... don't worry about being aroused or embarrassed. After a little adjustment period, when you get used to people being friendly and smiling a lot, you just don't feel like you have to be someone you aren't either. You get to know people for who they are. It sounds corny, but you feel natural here. You appreciate people for what's inside. I'm still a little bummed that they don't have the motorcycle rallies anymore (such a blast!) but everything else keeps getting better here. ;) You should visit! Really! (Bring SUNSCREEN!)

Ok, confession time. I am a high maintenance guest with very odd quirks. I have a heightened sense of smell; Alien-like to put it accurately. And I am hyper-aware of the energy around me. With that being said, On our last visit, I almost fainted when I turned on the lamp and saw the stark white light that energy efficient light bulbs give off. (My husband is a man of steel for being able to deal with my drama the way he does!) Even though the lovely staff member on the desk could not find any yellow E.E. bulbs in their supply area, when I told her that I spotted them in a vacant room, she immediately sent another lovely staff member to replace them. Thank God because that white light made me feel like I was sleeping in a commercial kitchen and I do not like commercial kitchens. (enter twilight zone music here.) And if that isn't enough, On a separate visit, we once checked into a room that completely repelled my Alien Nose. My husband didn't smell anything, but I did. Again, the lovely front desk staff member didn't think twice about moving us into another room. Seriously, the service is here is top notch because the people in those uniforms are the salt of the earth. They take pride in being kind human beings which is why the hotel is as clean as it is, the breakfast is always as fresh as it is, and our stay is always as wonderful as it is. Always a wonderful, wonderful experience.

The bathtub drain couldn't keep up, so the water got deeper and deeper while we showered. Bathroom caulking was cracked, peeling, and moldy.
