Enjoy folk music - Bill and his friends are often together in the Summertime to share music by the evening fire.
Kids have a blast! - They can play in the water, on our sandy beach, run around on our spacious grassy fields and have fun at the playground.
A nature lover? - Then you will like Little Pleasant Lake and all the lakes surrounding us. The area is great for biking and hiking.
History
Established in 2006.
The history of the resort, now called Lakeside Melodies, we can trace back to 1900, when it was a farm. In the 1920s Helen Spence started with renting out cabins for summer on Pleasant Lake and Little Pleasant Lake. It was the beginning of what would grow into a lively resort in the 1950 and 1960s. In the 1950s, 1960s,1970s and 1980s we hear names of owners like: Gunn family and Castle family. The last decades of the 20th century it was mostly a church camp. The present Music Hall was used as a church. At the beginning of the 1990s minister Charles and Carol Gebert bought the place and called it Living Waters. When Bill Bosler and his fiancé Carla took over in March 2006, the place needed some heavy maintenance. Since Bill is a musician, the new owners gave the resort a musical theme. Music is always an important part of Lakeside Melodies. Some repeat guests already know and bring their instrument for a nice jam in the yard. Sometimes Bill gives a little concert on request on the deck.
Meet the Business Owner: Bill and Carla B.
We are Bill and Carla, the couple behind Lakeside Melodies. The first time we saw this place, we fell in love with it. The rolling green hills, beautiful Little Pleasant Lake, the peaceful creek and the two happy ducks living in it. We bought the place and renovated it into a resort, where we would like to stay ourselves. Our goal is to make our guests feel at home. Bill is a music fanatic. He's been active in music since he was twelve years old. He played drums since high school. Over 20 years ago he discovered a peculiar instrument: the hammered dulcimer. He has played nothing since and already recorded three cd's, performing frequently. In summer he plays outdoors at Lakeside Melodies, so lots of free concerts. Bill works as a management consultant and Carla is a travel journalist, writer of books and magazines. She's Dutch, so for anyone who wants to practice Dutch or is dying to know more about wooden shoes, tulips and windmills, she's the one.
