Unique dining experience. I have visited on a weekday and a weekend. Most recently, chef Paul V., from Chicago. Highly recommend Farrand Hall I can't wait to try their Bakery. Ps. They sell balery items at the conclusion of dinner.

I'd been seeing posts popping up on Instagram about Farrand Hall, and then I found out that a local pastry chef from GR started working with them. I was intrigued so I decided to look into a dinner there for our ten year anniversary. As of summer 2024, they do weeknight dinners Wednesday through Friday, with special guest chef dinners on Saturdays. The weeknight dinners are five courses served family style, and I paid $90 per person. Beer and wine are available for purchase on site. I have to say that the photos don't do this place justice. The owners, Jacob and James, bought the property as a personal weekend getaway spot from their Chicago home, but quickly realized they could do something really special with the space. They live in the house on the property and built out two "barns" - one serves as the kitchen, dining space for colder/inclement weather, retail store, and bar. We were greeted warmly as soon as we walked in, and my jaw dropped at the decor. It's a bit dark and moody, but still welcoming. We bought a bottle of wine to share during dinner, then walked out to the pergola where a beautiful long table was set for dinner. The "white barn" serves as a lounge space, and looks straight out of an interior design magazine. The design touches are incredible, and I was so impressed by all the details. We were able to walk around the gardens and property before dinner, and we said hi to some friendly ducks and chickens that were roaming. Then the dinner bell rang and we were welcomed to dinner, with the owners chatting about their story. Then the food started coming out! Everything is served family style, which is personally not my preference, but it does create a shared, friendly atmosphere. The servers were great about indicating how each dish should be shared amongst the table. The menu changes seasonally and we heard from the chef, who talked about the local farms that they use to source ingredients. Everything was quite delicious and while it wasn't the absolute best meal I've ever had, it was such a fun and beautiful experience that it definitely garnered five stars from me. The coulotte pastrami steak dish was my favorite, and the lamb meatballs were a close second. Farrand Hall is a 90 minute drive from downtown Grand Rapids, but it was totally worth it for a special occasion. I'd love to go back again someday!

Ruby chocolate tart (best we've ever had) with innovative hibiscus jelly and vanilla. Perfect ending to a great dining experience!

We've been wanting to try Farrand Hall for some time, and so were pleased to get tickets to their Valentine dinner on 02/14/25. Truly, the evening exceeded our expectations! We were warmly welcomed by our hostess, Binaca (she was great!), and ushered to our assigned seats at a communal table (see pic). Mind you, you must be comfortable sitting with strangers, as part of the mission and ambiance of Farrand Hall is the promotion of community. The kitchen is open (see pic) and expertly run by head chef Ken Miller and his talented staff. The food was amazingly delicious, fresh, innovative, and very artistically arranged on the plate. We begin eating with our eyes, as we all know, so presentation did not disappoint! The progression from one course to the next was not rushed, so be prepared to perhaps dine a bit longer than you may be use to. However, each course flowed meticulously, with anticipation of what comes next growing! Jacob (one of the owners) was present the entire evening. The atmosphere was relaxed, comfortable, and fun.. if you'd like an out-of-the-ordinary evening out, get a reservation and experience Farrand Hall for yourselves. We doubt that you'd ever regret it!

I rely quite heavily on Yelp for making decisions about businesses, but like so many others, I…read moredon't contribute nearly enough to the community with my own reviews. After my wedding this past weekend, I felt I had to come on here and share my experience with our venue, Riverside Receptions. My wife and I were intent on having a unique wedding. We wanted something outdoorsy, and within a 200 mile radius of Detroit. We were also intent on finding a venue that would let us do things the way we wanted. So often, you see that the best venues make you use their caterer, place restrictions on how long the bar can be open, etc, and we wanted to avoid that to make sure we could throw the best party possible. We scoured the internet, and found virtually no options that met these criteria. When we came upon RR's website, we were obviously impressed by the pictures. However, we always assume that pictures are deceiving. So, when we visited the venue for the first time, we were astounded. Seriously, this is the most beautiful place you can imagine. The precision and care that went into the design of RR is mind blowing. Every detail is perfect - it's like Disney. John, the owner, was absolutely wonderful to work with. He let us do whatever we wanted, and provided tons of support in terms of pulling everything together. We had our set up at 10am, started the cocktail hour at 3pm, and didn't have to be out of the venue until midnight. How often can you find a wedding venue where the party is 9 hours long? And, since we were allowed to bring in our own bar and our own caterer, we were able to save thousands when compared to other venues. I've read other reviews online saying that RR is expensive. These reviewers are *insane*. You couldn't possibly find a venue as beautiful as this and spend less money. In the end, the comments from the guests ranged from "How the hell did you find this place?" to "This can't be real". Our goal was to wow people, and RR made that possible. Now, there's always a catch. For RR, it's that the venue is in the middle of absolutely nowhere. This is kind of cool, because you're totally isolated, but it does add headaches to the planning process. The closest hotels to the venue are in the middle of Three Rivers, about 10 miles away. I strongly recommend using the Super 8. I know what you're thinking: "Super 8? Sounds gross". But, it's actually quite nice, and much closer than some other hotels down in the Sturgis area. It's also very reasonable, as one would expect from a Super 8. Now, if your guests are drinking, you really need to have a solution for getting everyone to and from the venue safely. So, you'll have to spend some money to hire shuttles. The closet vendor we could find was in Kalamazoo. This added some cost to the event, but this was more than offset by the savings we realized on the caterer and bar. Moral of the story: For us, having our wedding at Riverside Receptions was the best decision we've ever made. Just visit the venue, and you'll understand why.

She knows her flowers and the process to grow, cut and arrange them to meet your expectations. My wife and daughter meet at Black Ridge a couple times to discuss the brides ideas and develop a plan to meet her wants. Susan also held a final meeting a couple weeks prior to the wedding to make sure everyone was on the same page and agree on last minute things. On the big day Susan and Tom were right on time to deliver the flowers. They went right to work putting things in the right spot and cleaning up after themselves. Now for the flowers...my wife and daughter were over the top pleased with the freshness, color, arrangement and overall beauty of the designs. The brides bouquet was a perfect size and just beautiful. The bouquet held up through all the handling and toss. The table flowers were simple and attractive. They didn't detract from the social interactions by being over sized, wide spread or in your face. They just blended nicely. The lapel flowers were very attractive as the were designed to be simple, worn close/flat to the lapel and masculine looking. The design was very innovative and attractive plus simple to pin on. The wrist corsages were simple, not fluffy or dangling, and beautiful of course. The flower girls had very attractive flower rings that were easy to manage and secure on a 5-8 year olds head. Susan also created a pair of flower arrangements that were attached to the arch behind the minister. These flowers were artificial but you would never know it. They were very attractive and blended with all the other flowers and color schemes. I would definitely recommend Black Creek for your flower needs. Susan is very talented. She listens well and works passionately to make your ideas come to life. Her husband Tom is a wonderful helper and behind the scenes guy. You will find both Susan and Tom to be very professional, friendly and customer service oriented!

Our room was quite large, with a sitting area, large bathroom with a standalone tub and shower, and a cozy fireplace. We couldn't have asked for more. I highly recommend the Beiger.
