The food service crew was also. Even the room I was in was above average and had the bathtub I need to soak. But the room didn't have an alarm clock or sound machine that should have been normal for a place like this. While the TV had a very good range of channels, the lack of a sleep timer again adds to stars being subtracted. Not having a microwave in regular rooms should be a no no for resort hotels. The food was average at best. Nothing to write home about especially the quiche and the muffins. If they want more stars, it is the little things that matter.

My favorite part was watching the sunrise over the marina from the balcony in the morning. It was a vibe. The room also had a fireplace which came in handy since it was around 40 degrees on the night we were there. Overall the room was nice and the view made it worth it. While there were some great amenities, they didn't quite match up to what I was expecting. They recently opened up The Living Room area in the lobby which has breakfast in the morning and snacks and drinks in the evening. They also gave us drink tickets as well to use on coffee or drinks. Breakfast starts at 8am, but I am an early riser and was hoping for a coffee while I watched the sunrise. I did make a tea with the electric kettle in the room. The lobby/Living Room set up is perfect for drinks, not so much for a family having breakfast. They do sell local Michigan snacks, but you have to ask at the front desk and they have to find them. I would've just preferred a vending machine or an easier way to get snacks between 8pm and 8am when the Living Room is not open. The pool and jacuzzi were great, but we did have a hard time finding them. The indoor pool entrance was through an unmarked door on the second floor so it took us a few minutes of exploring to find it. I don't think the indoor pool was heated, but it wasn't too bad. The hotel is very centrally located so it was just a short drive to the beach, restaurants, and shopping.

We've been going to Turtle Lake for more than 10 years on and off (wish it could be more often)…read more We've stayed in the lodge and now have a small motorhome. Both types of quarters have their qualities- just depends on how you like to vacation. There are so many things to do here! Beautiful indoor pool. Really nice tiki bar next to the "conversation pool", a rec building with pool, darts, cards... There are volleyball nets, shuffleboard, mini golf, pickleball courts and more! We've never stayed in one of the"park model" units, but they look lovely. There are dances on Saturday nights and themed weekends during the summer. We love it out here. A couple things to keep in mind: This is a FAMILY resort. There are a few families with kids. Sort of took me by surprise when we first visited, but everyone is very relaxed and take all things in stride. This is NOT a swingers place. No one is looking to "hook up". No one cares about the size of your butt or whether you have weird surgery scars. This is a place where everyone enjoys what you can't do most other places: relax, feel comfortable in your own skin and meet new friends. As a woman, I can honestly tell you I was freaked out about going the first time. We're taught to obsess about cellulite and wrinkles. I've never felt as confidant and comfortable as I do at TLR. It becomes obvious right away that no one judges you... about anything! Once you shed your clothes, no one can tell if your rich or making this the one vacation you can take every couple of years. You don't have to compare yourself with a anyone else on any level. And guys... don't worry about being aroused or embarrassed. After a little adjustment period, when you get used to people being friendly and smiling a lot, you just don't feel like you have to be someone you aren't either. You get to know people for who they are. It sounds corny, but you feel natural here. You appreciate people for what's inside. I'm still a little bummed that they don't have the motorcycle rallies anymore (such a blast!) but everything else keeps getting better here. ;) You should visit! Really! (Bring SUNSCREEN!)

Fast forward two trips later we're big fans. The property is well maintained, the staff are friendly, other guests have been welcoming and respectful, and there is so much to do. Holland State Park is great but this year (2018) Tunnel Park was the hit. We have 4 kiddos entertainment is important. I highly recommend a stay here.

First, the location is awesome. Across the street from a Lake Macatawa access (our balcony had a lake view) and down the street from the Holland State Park Lake Michigan Beach (perfect to watch the sun set). We also hiked Mt. Pisgah a couple of days (just down the street too). We stayed in the Newport (sleeps 8, 4 in beds, 4 in sofa beds). We loved the unit from the decor to the multi level layout and fully stocked kitchen. If someone in your party has trouble with stairs I might pick a unit that has an additional first floor kitchen/bar. There is a jet tub in the master bath and a private patio with a grill off the back of the first floor bedroom. There is also an outdoor grill with patio table seating right off the pool deck for entertaining. The salt water pool and hot tub (mostly the hot tub) was my fav, especially after climbing all those stairs at Mt Pisgah. 8 minutes to downtown Holland and 20 minutes to Saugatuck. Just down the street was a kayak and paddle board rental place. Additionally you get privileges at the Macatawa Golf Club which was very nice. It was worth every penny and we hope to go back again!

But when we arrived there had been a mixup with housekeeping, and the room had not been cleaned. They had first said they would send housekeeping right away, then offered to upgrade us to a cabin. The cabin was quite nice, and the bed was very comfortable. The only difference was the suite included bath towels. In the cabins you had to bring your own, so there were no towels. But that was OK, because we had brought bath towels, not quite understanding the website. Great value for the money, and I would definitely come back here again.

Each had their own approach, but the new owners are really taking this place in the right direction. The cabins have all been given a facelift without sacrificing the feel of a lake side cabin. One of our favorite things are the pontoon boats that you can rent by the day or for your whole stat. On our very first visit we experienced the joys of Nibbles, a small eatery/ice cream shop on the property. The new owners have aggressive plans to revive this sweet spot which will surely be a favorite stop for all who live on the lake! You will not be disappointed in this cute little gem of a property just minutes from downtown Colon, Michigan (which is also accessible via boat!) The town is host to several great restaurants as well as some awesome magic shows! The salon in town is a welcome stop if you forgot to get your toenails painted before you arrived! I honestly felt like I walked through a wardrobe into a Narnia world. The small sign at the drive was a bit tough to see, so as your map tells you you're close, slow down and look for the Bed and Breakfast sign. The vibe here is full on beautiful Pinterest, French countryside garden chateau. Everywhere you look there is something beautiful to see, from the outdoor pavilion to the stately rooms inside. The ivy covered buildings and gardens bursting with blooms are great backdrops for any photos. The wedding I attended was on a super hot, sunny June day, but there were plenty of amenities provided to guests to alleviate the heat: shade parasols, handheld electric fans, folding fans, and plenty of cold water. This was such a thoughtful touch and really helped make guests comfortable. The mansion in the background was a stunning view for the short but sweet ceremony. Once the ceremony concluded, we were greeted by staff members with water and wine and were directed to a courtyard for hors d'oeuvres and an outdoor bar. There were areas of shade from trees and umbrellas, which was a nice reprieve from the sun. The food was all perfectly arranged and the bacon wrapped date I had was a delicious sweet and savory bite! Molly and Jenn were pouring drinks with big smiles despite the heat. We were ushered into the main reception area -- a beautiful, airy, open pavilion -- by a tinkling dinner bell! Dinner was delicious and all staff members I interacted with were incredibly polite and professional. I was really blown away by the details and care put into this celebration at this amazing venue! Hopefully I can attend another wedding there someday. If you need a beautiful place to get married, look no further than Greencrest Manor.
