Unfortunately the job we requested to be done was not finished. Technician was at house over 8 hours to separate the bathroom light and fan to separate light switches. Even after all that time left the bathroom less functional than before they came out. Vanity light did not work. Tried to explain why we needed to have the entire house rewired. Sent estimates for rewiring entire house and install new and improved smoke detectors that we did not request or want. In an effort to convince my wife that we have major electrical wiring issues, they made her feel unsafe and anxious in the home. Reached out to turn it on to inform them we were not satisfied and did not want same technician. They still had him reach out to schedule a time to finish with another estimate. All the while we were not going to have the main light working in the most used bathroom in the house which was working prior to being "worked on". If you cannot performed the work requested please to do not waste over an unexpected 10 hours at our home resulting in us cancelling appointments and activities all to leave bathroom light not functional. In those 10 hours there was plenty of time to inform us that the job could not be completed the way tech would like based on his opinion. The tech did accurately detect a gas leak in the attic we are very grateful for that which is solely the reason I'm giving 2 stars. Paid $959 for small gas leak detection. Had the work completed with someone else who clearly explained what was done previously and through visually showing the wires/splices informing us why the unasked for estimates and recommendations were unwarranted given the nature of what was needed. And yes, you can find another licensed, bonded, and insured electrician that will not try to sell you on services that are not needed by using terms such as "unsafe" and using electric house fire stories. Their yelp rating is solid but I recommend getting 2 or 3 opinions before making a decision with this company. **Response from manager does not address main concern and inexcusable time frame spent just to leave area worse off than before. Tech started work at 10am (this is after gas issue was addressed) and didn't leave til after 7pm and left unfinished. I was present at home for the first 2 hours. This company made a wonderful first impression. Becca answered and was friendly and helpful getting me scheduled for a next-day inspection/estimate. However, they stop answering the phones at 4 and divert you to an answering service that doesn't have access to anything. So I called back the next day and allegedly had everything scheduled as promised the day before. She made some dubious comments regarding the scheduling that made me wonder if they'd follow through. I should have trusted my gut. Not only did they not show up as scheduled, I haven't heard from them again. It has been over 48 hours since they were supposed to do this estimate for me. Hubby had asked for my help in finding a good, reputable company to help him in installing some smart switches. Hubby is handy with some things but when it comes to messing with electrical stuff, it was most prudent to have a trained professional do the work. I wholeheartedly agree. It was early in the morning when hubby made his call to TIO. We were laying in bed together while he made the call and he did make his requests very clear - someone to come out preferably sooner rather than later to inspect some wiring and install the smart switches he bought. The lady receptionist was able to have someone come out in about 2 hours. Talk about FAST! Hubby quickly agreed. The tech assigned to us came out earlier than the quoted time frame. How lucky of us to have 2 different companies come out to us sooner on the same day! Our tech was polite and honest with his opinions. He was able to recommend a cheaper alternative to achieve a goal hubby wanted for the kitchen instead of trying to steer us into doing a partial remodel to accommodate the space the wires would need. I strongly said no as soon as I heard the partial remodel was mentioned. Sorry, not sorry! The tech did install all the smart switches hubby wanted. Thanks to TIO, he can relax knowing his goal has been reached. I took off a star because the receptionist did not communicate to the tech the full request of hubby. Tech believed he was only doing an estimate when it was supposed to be a full job. Also, the tech made the same small error twice in 2 different switches. This was caught before he left our house but as a trained professional, it was confusing that the error happened not once but twice. Hubby and I appreciate how easy it was to get a hold of the company, the scheduling, and the promptness of the whole process. First, the office team is terrific. Prompt response, listened to my needs, and made sure I understood that there was a $250 minimum charge. HOWEVER, the electricians sent were incompetent, constantly upselling, and had no interested in solving a complex problem. When the two electricians arrived to solve a 12-volt transformer problem, they were unable/too lazy to isolate which of the 6 transformers in questions was faulty, suggested they all had to be replaced and provided a quote of $185 per transformer (when we found the on-line for approx. $65 each), plus $95 per hour to replace them. Subsequently, we had a experienced electrician work with us to find a safe and low cost solution. At his suggestion, we found transformers on Amazon, and while they had to be "McGivered", the problem is solved. And we saved literally $1000. If you want 'cookie cutter,' they are probably fine, but if your issue is out-of-the ordinary, go elsewhere. read more

We were going to go with them but they gave us an hourly rate and the quote failed to include a $250 travel fee. Apparently you have to pay an hourly rate for the time it takes them to get here and they don't mention that in their estimates. We could've had somebody here by now had they given us an accurate quote. It's also funny that they quoted a round trip 2 hour drive when they're less than 10 minutes from us. I guess customers have to pay extra based on where somebody lives. The message below says to call their office but this was the quote they gave us (my mistake, it was $250 just to show up and only $250 for the two-hour round trip drive for a technician who apparently lives 50 minutes away from their office.) Instead of spending $500 here we went to George Brazil and paid $59. read more

We had Turn It On Electric come out for a job. In the initial negotiation the work was written out on his iPad. This was definitely not a good outcome. If you should engage with them, I would urge you to get agreement and cost estimate written down in a hard copy because details for us were caught up in the translation. It appeared that Miguel fully understood what we wanted done and a $ amount was agreed HOWEVER, when completed the cord was cut too short and left a serious tripping hazard on the ground. I called the office to voice my dissatisfaction. The lady took the information and Miguel came back and took a look. he readily acknowledged the issue but said it would cost an additional amount of $600-800. to fix the mistake. We had nothing to confirm anything since the only text document was on HIS electronic device! My MISTAKE! Chad, the owner called me back and stood behind Miguel's decision saying that times were tough and he couldn't send anyone out without an additional charge. Obviously their statement of "No matter your electrical issue, we have got you covered. Well the company is very organized and polite but that was the only upside of our experience. We had asked for an electrical rough in and to install trim/lights after drywall was put up. Fast forward - drywall is up, can lights get installed with holes in our brand new drywall. Technicians leave without a word to us "as if we wont notice" and "they didnt know we were home" Fast forward a week or two of figuring out what happened - our drywall contractor is adamant its the electricians fault, Turn it on electric is adamant its the drywallers fault. Bottom line - we eat the cost of repairs to brand new drywall ... not a huge cost but more hassle and probably will end up w blemishes or irregularities in our ceiling. Whose fault was it really? I dont know. Im not a contractor just caught in the middle. I can tell you I will not do business with either Turn it on Electric or the other contractor again. I would definitely give this company five stars when it comes to customer service, being able to schedule an appointment and the work that they completed for me. My only issue is that when I called to ask about scheduling an appointment, I was quoted $199 for the first hour and $145 for every hour after that plus any other material fees. When I received my bill I noticed that it was high, when I called to inquire I was told that it was $145 per technician and I had two technicians on site. I was never told that the fee was per technician and I was never informed that there were two technicians at my house (I had a family member there as I could not be). In fact when I received a text message informing me of the technician that would be coming it only mentioned the one technician. Again everybody that I dealt with at this company was fabulous and great I just wish that it had been communicated about the fees. read more

In a follow up to my previous reviews of TIO, I forgot to mention that not only will they not come out to fix a problem for three days, they treated me in their Yelp response (by Ashten) as if I were making up the problem or crazy. I suspect this is either because they didn't want to deal with the issue, or it's because I'm a woman. Add to that that Ashten lied about calling me. If he did he didn't leave a message. So if you are a woman and need an electrician right away who will respond the day you call, I recommend Penguin Air. They were very professional and came out the day I called to remove the malfunctioning smoke alarms TIO installed and which were constantly chirping. read more
