In a follow up to my previous reviews of TIO, I forgot to mention that not only will they not come out to fix a problem for three days, they treated me in their Yelp response (by Ashten) as if I were making up the problem or crazy. I suspect this is either because they didn't want to deal with the issue, or it's because I'm a woman. Add to that that Ashten lied about calling me. If he did he didn't leave a message. So if you are a woman and need an electrician right away who will respond the day you call, I recommend Penguin Air. They were very professional and came out the day I called to remove the malfunctioning smoke alarms TIO installed and which were constantly chirping. read more

The Best! Stop searching for an electrician right now. I found this company on Yelp. I got three bids install a 50 amp circuit in my garage for a Tesla charger. Not the cheapest bid, the best bid. The appointment was easy, the estimator was on time. I got the bid in minutes. Once awarded the job (lol-these guys do this in their sleep), the payment and appointment was easy. Office staff is excellent. Responsive friendly and timely. The electricians showed up exactly on time. Finished the work exactly on time--they had to cut drywall (and referred me to a repair company) and it was clean and perfect. The drywall person said it was the beat job he'd ever seen. TESLA dropped the ball, so the charger didn't arrive on time. They had to come back. Again, easy, friendly, responsive. The same service tech/electrician came out--EARLY. I handed him the box and left him alone in my house to go pick up my new car. He texted that he was done and I drove into my garage to see the charger glowing on the wall. Perfect install. Perfect follow up. I spoke with the owner who CARES. As I said. Don't bother looking any further. There were a couple of issues with their company. First, they're expensive! They charged me over $400 to replace two $40 ballasts which would take about 30 minutes to replace. Second, the technician estimated the cost to fix the light issue and found out that it wasn't the ballast, it was something else. For that price, he should've fixed the problem, but instead charged me for the one ballast he didn't need to replace. Third, the communication between the office and the technician was not good. The office sent me invoices for charges that were more than the technician quoted. Fourth, I paid 50% of the estimated cost up front ($212) to get the job started. After finding out that the ballast wasn't issue, I received another bill for $137 even though I already paid for it. Not only was I overwhelmed with the expense of the misdiagnosis, I was also disappointed and dissatisfied with their lack of professionalism. I had technician Conrad show up on time, very professional and helped with what I needed fix but also a few other things throughout the house. He did inform me with things that I could later on down the road get done but I went ahead and had him do them that day. Staff that came out to provide us were great, however, during installation, they kept having "unforeseen" issues and a thousand dollar job almost ballooned to over 2 grand. Told me I need to replace my light fixture box and it would be 400 dollars additional. Told them to leave it, had another electrician come, told me nothing was wrong with the box and they installed my lights for 130. It also appeared they were being rushed to complete the job on my home so they could get to another. Would not recommend. read more

We highly recommend Turn It On Electric! Our breaker had issues, which caused the electricity to both our microwave and refrigerator to stop, which could have caused all of our perishables to go bad. We called Turn It On L, and they had technicians at our house within a few hours. They had to run out and grab a part, and didn't charge us for the time it took them to do that. Everyone was friendly, from the office support to the actual technicians. We were lucky to have Bob Best and Eric Dubois as our technicians. They explained everything in a way we could understand, and got the job done quickly. We didn't feel like they were trying to upcharge us or rip us off in any way. Given all of the positive reviews, perhaps their service is great - if you can get them to actually show up, which I was unable to do. I called in late December for an appointment, and they were booking about two weeks out. I was told they had a 7 AM appointment, or a window between 8 AM and noon. I took the 7 AM appointment. On the morning of my appointment, no one showed up. I called about 7:20 a.m. for a status check. The woman who answered said she would look into it and call me back. No one called back. At around 9:30 that morning, I called again, and someone told me that several electricians were out sick the week before, so they bumped my appointment, but no one bothered to call to tell me. He apologized and reset my appointment for four days later, at 7 AM again. Same issue that day - no one showed up. I called, and someone told me they would call the tech and find out where they were, but no one called me back. At approximately 9:30 that morning, the electrician called to tell me he was on the way to my house. I explained that I was supposed to have an appointment at 7 AM, so I had already gone to work, since I never heard from anyone. He checked the schedule, and confirmed my appointment was at 7 AM. He said he was a manager, and someone would call me to reschedule, and offered to waive the $60 service fee. That was a week ago, and no one ever called me to reschedule. I absolutely cannot recommend them in light of their disorganization, poor communication, and unreliability. read more

My wife and I needed an outlet replaced and a new one installed, we also decided to put a surge protector on our home. we had a scheduling mix up with the time that I had requested them to be out, but the guys were patient and waited until I would be home from work. When I got home Bob and Kevin went right to work. They explained to me why my outlet was not working, helped me pick a spot where they would not have to cut through drywall to install the new outlet, and took me outside and explained to me how the surge protector was protecting my home as well as what to do if it ever would need to be replaced. They cleaned up after the work was done like they were never even there. These guys were amazing and I recommend 10/10. Today I had a 240V outlet installed today in my garage for my new electric car. Shawn from Turn it on Electric was my installer. The Appointment was scheduled for 7 AM and Shawn showed up 5 min early. I was very impressed. After he took a look and seen what he would need for the job, he gave me a quote for $450. I guess he thought I was going to freak out, but his quote was $200 less then the previous two quotes I received. He told me to give him 1hr it finish the job and 45min later he was letting me know he was all done. Everything was all clean and worked perfect. At this point in the game, a guaranteed response time is better than the silence I've gotten from other companies. I spent four hours waiting for this company and they no showed. Cannot recommend. The day before my appointment, I received a text asking me to confirm my 8-12 appointment time. I responded yes to confirm. Noon rolls around and no one has shown up. Overall I was satisfied with their work on our electric charger. The bid came in lower than the competition and I hired them. When the installers came they spend about twice as long on the project than was bid. They ended up charging me for one extra hour of labor which was fine but it would have been good to get a proper bid in the first place to budget for the project. After my father passed away my mom downsized from the home I grew up in to a mobile home in a little 55+ community. She needed her space to be manageable, and to be around friends. Perfect, right? Until you realize that these little spaces also have plumbing, electrical, and a/c issues, and contractors aren't quite lining up out the door for those jobs. I called 5 different electricians prior to getting connected with Turn It On, 2 didn't have the "proper insurance" to work on a mobile home, and the other 3 gave me the run around, and even set appointments only to no show. Listen, I'm not naive to think that the size of the service I was requesting was appealing to them however, being in the service industry myself (mortgage), I would never treat a buyer with a lower loan amount as if their business wasn't worth my time or even a call back. That said, Turn It On Electric really went above and beyond! From the very first phone call with Crystal who handles scheduling, to the amazing, on time, professional, courteous, & knowledgeable service my mom received from her tech, Pedro, they truly are the best. We did have a couple of scheduling hiccups, but Crystal was always ahead of communicating with me and considerate of my time, as well as my moms.
