i called mr michael hoffman about blood stains involving our expensive wool carpeting. explained that three other companies had already tried, but had actually made the stains bigger and uglier. he explained that nobody - not even him - could get things better! so stop trying, buy some expensive new carpeting, and get on with life! i explained that i'm 84. no charge - we had few laughs... john thomas mehigan md read more

I highly recommend the Turkish/persian experience of rug cleaning around San Pablo and Gilman. A bit of a museum, the curator Mr. Hoffman of NY is a humorous guy familiar with the odd objects he collects. I fancy this art for rich people ai I agreed To tell my rich friends. Having a mansion or extra space surely could use a piece of riff raf art from this splendid salesman. What a delight. It's wonderful to be around the beautiful rugs so ancient and so filled with story. Like I said, insist he give you a drink or something And get a rug cleaned. read more

I had Mr. Hoffman and his crew clean 1 Persian living rug and 2 smaller Afghan rugs. All went very smoothly. I had them back within a week. Mr. Hoffman and his crew were were very helpful and even moved another rug into my garage all rolled up in plastic for protection. Thanks so much. read more

We had a fantastic experience with having our rug cleaned here and we will return. We are very particular and we don't like the use of chemicals. It has no chemical smell and the rug looks beautiful. Be aware that if your rug is wool, it will shrink a bit. read more

Hands down the best rug cleaner ever! This is the second time I've used Michael. He picked up and delivered my Persian rugs like a total pro -- they came back spotless, wity new better padding and looking brand new. I have a 14 foot runner that he miraculously cleaned it to its original bright red color and it's beautiful. But honestly, the best part? He's hilarious. I was laughing the whole time he was here. Who knew getting your rugs cleaned could be this entertaining? Five stars for the service and the comedy show! read more

I have used this business for decades. This month I needed three rugs cleaned, one old, valuable, and worn. They gave me a good deal on the cleaning, reinforce the edges of the very old rug with hand stitching to keep it from unraveling, gave me non-skid under mats for free, and picked up and delivered everything! and of course, the rugs are beautiful and clean. I highly recommend this business. read more

Polyurethane had spilled on my Persian rug. The spills created hard spots. I really had very little hope. Turko Persian Rug Cleaning performed a minor miracle. Not only was my rug returned clean, but the colors were more brilliant than I remembered. And the hard spots were gone. And the cost was very reasonable. Thank You! Turko Persian. read more

Recently we had two vintage rugs from our foyer and our kitchen cleaned at Turko Persian Rug Cleaning. Both rugs came out so well we had him clean our living room Heriz. One of my favorite things about this company is the owner, a colorful ex-New Yorker, who's been out here cleaning rugs for most of his life. He has a story for everyone and seems to have a big heart! Only rug cleaning place I'd go now. Thanks for your great work! read more

This is the best rug cleaning I have ever had. My diabetic cat urinated on my wool area rug twice. Each time my rug was beautifully cleaned and deodorized. I highly recommend the Turko Persian Rug cleaners! BTW, my rug is stowed away, and won't be used until my sweet (and misbehaving) cat has left the planet. Hopefully not for a long time. read more

The owner, Mike, is being so rude to us, it's unbelievable. He did a fine job on our rugs. We had him send one to NY, which he did. He is now being very rude as we are trying to work out a disagreement about payment (we think we did, he claims we didn't). His behavior is shocking. I suggest you use another service. read more

I had a bad experience with Michael. It started out fine. He's eccentric to weird depending on how long you talk to him, and I was ok to overlook his cluttered shop. He repeatedly told me that he "didn't need my money, he just wanted my happiness." He repeatedly said to bring anything back that I wasn't satisfied with. I believed him, and everything seemed fine...until I called him after waiting for two weeks for the detergent smell to abate. It was pretty clear that they simply didn't rinse the detergent out properly. All I was going to ask is if they could rinse the detergent out and dry it. He basically told me to take a hike and that he had already washed the rug twice. Note: I only brought it to him once. Is he losing his mind or confusing me with someone else? I ended up having to pay another cleaner to do what he promised he would do but refused when it came down to it. I ultimately paid twice for one cleaning. read more

I came back to have 4 rugs cleaned and am happy with my experience! The pickup/dropoff service is awesome, and Michael was kind enough to throw in some extras for me that I really appreciate. read more

Absolutely stunning job on my snow white rug. Given this was a quilt backed sheepskin, I was concerned about how it would come out. A dog had soiled the rug and on top of that, a handyman had set his toolbox on it, leaving a grease stain. I was prepared to just take the loss, but these guys made it look brand new again. Highly recommend! read more

Michael Hoffman is amazing. Our most favorite "Caucas" style rug got stained by an entire RED wine bottle (dog, long story). We tried some things we should not have to reverse the damage. Michael did it! Almost 100% gone. He also gave me a discount I did not request simply for making me wait a bit when I dropped the rug off. A great human too. read more

I have had 5 oriental rugs cleaned here. The price is fair and they do an excellent job cleaning the rugs.

Turko did a great job with my 8 year old filthy white berber rug. Super happy to have a clean rug again!

a really difficult job; a scissor lift that ground its rubber tire into the rug. they got it cleaned flawlessly, looked brand new.

Did a good job on cleaning a beautiful but filthy Persian rug. Nice folks too. Recommend if you love a rug.

The precious rugs encrusted with 50 years of life are barely recognizable to me today, they are so vibrant and soft, plus they have a pleasant smell. My rugs are not valuable but they were in my almost 93yr. old Mother's bedroom, which was nearly as big as my small condo. We fought & fought about those rugs she loved because she had a walker and I was afraid of her tripping. My mother passed away, but her rugs remind me of her every day. Thank you Michael Hoffman for taking such care in beautifully cleaning & repairing Joan's Persian or Not Genuine Made for Export Rugs. I had to get up in the middle of the night to enjoy the vibrant colors and feel of the soft wool and silk on my feet. read more

I had a white shag flotki wool rug that my pet had an accident on in a couple places. The owner was quick to help me, assured me the stains would be removed, and the carpet would look beautiful. Indeed, the carpet looks great. They didn't amazing job. They were fast, responsive, and a really good value. I highly recommend them. read more

Michael helped my mom and I with a very big rug. He was on time, fast and very friendly. He got the job done for us!

They don't look particularly open from the front.... but in the back is a complete rug repair and cleaning facility. They do it right on sight. It's old school: paper receipts, numbered hang tags for each carpet. But they did a fine job on my rug at a good price (I dropped it off rather than have them pickup/deliver). The owner is there most of the time, and is gruff with an odd sense of humor.... but straightforward and knows rugs & cleaning. Whatever you got, he can get it done. read more

Speedy service and response time. Owner is friendly and a pleasure to work with. Will definitely come back if I need another rug cleaned.

Michael and his crew are truly wonderful. They are kind, funny, reasonably priced, incredibly knowledge, do excellent work, and have very competitive pricing. We had them clean two of our rugs. Both were in bad shape - dirty and stinky (thanks to many years of living with dogs). Michael called us after they had been cleaned and asked if we would like him to fix the hole in one of the rugs. He also suggested we cut the "frills" off the edges to better maintain the rug. Michael delivered the rugs today. They look beautiful. They smell clean. And I could not identify where the hole had been. Michael's suggestion to get rid of the frills on the sides of the larger rug was brilliant. If you have rugs and want them to look great without costing you way too much money, and have some laughs thrown in for free, this is the place to go! read more

Did such a great job cleaning our rug and removing a stain I thought was permanent. fair prices!

We brought our carpet for cleaning at this establishment and it was well done and reasonably priced. My husband dealt with Mike, the proprietor, who was kind and funny. It's nice to still find person-centered, quality business who takes their time to talk with their customers. read more

They beautifully restored my grandparents' wool rug. It was in trouble having been in a storage unit for several years. We found hundreds of moths and rodent droppings in it. Michael and his team did a wonderful job cleaning it and repairing the moth holes. The colors are vibrant and everything looks wonderful. His price was literally half of what I was quoted elsewhere too! read more

How anyone can review this company without first mentioning the charming, quirky, and friendly character that is Michael the owner is beyond me. He's a real mensch in a crazy world. My initial phone conversation with him was nothing short of a delight and on the day the rugs were to be picked up he called to say what time he'd be there and asked if there was anything else I needed. I jokingly said "Just a large coffee with cream should do it" and two hours later Michael showed up on time with a hot cup of Starbucks coffee with cream! He came all the way out to Danville from Berkeley to pick up my Karastan (original wool) rugs which included two 6 foot runners and two 8x10 area rugs and returned them two weeks later looking and smelling like brand new. He also repaired a hole I'd managed to make in one rug, removed the worn fringe on all the rugs and stitched those sides to perfectly match the original stitching done on the other edges at the Karastan factory, and replaced the old carpet mats with new and more plush ones. I can't recommend this company enough. In fact, if you don't have any area rugs, buy one just to get it dirty so you can hire Michael to clean them! read more

I brought 2 large Persian rugs to be cleaned. They did an excellent job and provided courteous service at an affordable price.

We have had a few of our very large Persian rugs cleaned by Turko Persian Rugs over the past several years and they have come out looking clean and stunning again. Mike is quite the character and we enjoy his conversation. Great service and nice to have the owner of the business come out to your home. Rare nowadays. We highly recommend this service. His pricing is very fair. read more

We've been taking various hand-woven and hand-knotted rugs from our collection to Michael for years. He does an amazing job making our rugs look like new and smell fresh and his pricing is always very fair for the quality of work done, and we always appreciate his pick-up and delivery service for larger carpets. I recently brought an antique kilim that I picked up at a garage sale to him. It was completely filthy and infested with moths, but I could tell that there was a beautiful piece hidden behind the grime. When I picked the rug up from Michael, the colors glowed, it was pest free, it smelled clean, that rescued rug is now a much admired showpiece in our home. I also have to mention that Micheal is a hoot! I total unique character who always makes us laugh. read more

Have them washed 2 rugs, one came back perfect and the other is completely ruined. Both rugs are of the same material from the same store, one is 8x10 and one is 6x9. Unclear if they actually washed the 6x9 but somehow it came back dirtier than before. IF they washed and rinsed it, it was a half ass job at best because both ends of the rug was so gross. I'm assuming that's because since they didn't wash/rinse properly, the dirty water just drips to the end when the rug is hung to dry and the dirt then dries to the end. Since I still have one rug came back perfect, why the 1 star you might ask? Because 1) I now lost 1 rug, and 2) Michael is quite the character to deal with. He changed the prices 3x from when I asked for the quote to when he came to pick up the rugs. He openly admitted he gives lower quotes on the phone than what he actually charges. When he saw how unhappy we were about the dirty rug, he made up excuses about how this rug is falling apart and all the chemicals is coming out and that's why it's discolored. Of course we didn't buy it and since the mistake is so obvious and the rug is so gross, he offered to take it back and wash again, throw away for us, or take it off the bill. I don't know if I would recommend him since one rug did come back perfectly clean and beautiful. I guess just be firm with him if you see something off read more

Michael is a pro and very reliable and fair. He and his team have cleaned rugs for our family for years. So I have this Moroccan rug that is like 8 years old. I wouldn't say it was dirty or stained (I don't have pets) but it had lost its luster and fluff and had never been cleaned. I did a quick quote request on Yelp and Michael got back to me with a good price (not the cheapest quote but not the most expensive by far). We chatted via Yelp messages while I described my rug and that I needed it poofed up again. He's very knowledgeable and humorous (been in the biz for 50 years); so I called him to make an appointment (free pickup/dropoff included) and he came by like 2 hours later. While rolling up the rug he gave me a bit of history and info about this style of rug (and joked that it's still white and not discolored after almost a decade). Pick up was Friday and he called me the following Thursday morning to drop it off. The rug looks amazing and almost like new! Great service and great work. Fantastic! read more

Turko Persian Rug Cleaning - Clean and Fully like New! - Carpet Cleaning Near Me - Berkeley, California

I've used Turko Persian for the past three years. Until this year, I just used them to clean traditional Persian wool rugs. They have always done a great job. Last year after getting the rugs cleaned my very discerning Persian mom noticed over FaceTime how good of a job they did. Two months ago, we had to put our cat down. Her last months were very difficult, with vomit and diarrhea a daily occurrence. And then a few weeks ago one of our boys woke up in the middle of the night vomiting. Turko Persian came and cleaned two (American/contemporary) wool rugs. They came back in excellent condition. In short, highly recommend for either routine cleaning or cleaning out terrible messes left by children or pets (or adults). read more
