Other small plates that were excellent were the falafel (complete with sauces) and the grape leaves. Onto the mains, the kifta plate and chicken shawarma plate were top-tier...so well-spiced that no sauces are needed but they do provide them if you want to switch it up. Finally, you have to end the meal with something sweet: baklava! Special shout-out to the friendly staff, cute yet unpretentious space, and free parking lot! After only one trip, this has already become one of my favorite Middle Eastern restaurants in Chicago, which is certainly saying something given the strong competition (especially in Albany Park)!

Got a generous portion of chicken shawarma and it was so tender and tasty. We have middle eastern restaurants close to us and when Salam is on it reigns supreme against all the others. Also learned. To give you an idea, the Cevap Sandwich little tasty sausages served on their lepina bread on Google are $5.95, but I paid $16.99 and $4.00 for a bottle of Fanta Orange Pop, which is $2.00 on Google. Chicken Soup is $2.00 on Google and $7.95 on the house menu. I'm unsure if the restaurant controls the Google prices, but these menu prices are sometimes 300% or more. Regarding the food, I liked everything, especially the sandwiches. The sandwich portion was so big that I only ate half of it because they give you a lot for the money. I'm enclosing a picture of half of the Cevap Sandwich with fries; the rest I'll have for dinner tonight. Your best bet is to split a sandwich and order an appetizer. There is lots of free parking.

It consists a bed of of "crisp" fries, what I think was a boiled and sliced bratwurst, and a sweet curry sauce. I also had a can of Coke. You can't do anything to mess up a Coca-Cola so we'll skip that. The people working the food truck know their stuff. They offer gluten-free and vegan items for those of us who need the options. They were also friendly and patient. The Currywurst was just okay. The crisp fries were soggy from the sauce. And I wish the brat was grilled instead of boiled. It would have made for a better meal. The concept is good. I've heard many good reviews but I think they were mainly the restaurant and not the food truck. I also heard from more than one person that the best item on the menu is the Doner Kebab. If we make it to their restaurant, I'll the Doner Kabob then.

It was a good-sized portion with plenty for me to take home for another meal. The two sauces were not bad, and were needed to add some much-needed flavor to the dish. We were both amused with the menu's depiction of the weekend special - an entire lamb head with rice. It's probably quite a treat for carnivores craving a lamb head. We each drank a can of "Healthy Cola" - zero sugar and zero calorie beverages out of Saudi Arabia. My lemon mint was AOK, and I presume my bud was fine with his cola, as he prefers a diet cola anyway.
