We started with a tortilla de papa y cebolla, a local dish which was definitely generous enough to share among four people. For the mains, I had the tenderloin lomo, and my husband went with the asado especial short rib. I ended up liking his choice better with a bit of fat made it extra flavorful and he happily finished my tenderloin piece, so it all worked out perfectly. We also shared a plate of grilled vegetables for good measure. The bread basket was excellent, especially with the accompanying sauces. While we're not steak connoisseurs, we found the meal absolutely delicious, and the service was top-notch. The restaurant itself is stunning. Don't forget to look up at the chandelier, which is decorated with hanging spoons and forks!

The prior evening had also been at a steakhouse (There is another review for that one.) This place was amazing and we had relatively early reservations for BA. We showed up at 7 and by 8:30 the place was packed and people were going to the upstairs dinign area. This is a beautiful restaurant with an incredible aura about it. Easy to tell who the regulars were as they were called by first name. We tried to chnage up our appitizers from the first night. Here is our meal selection: Appitizers: Plata de Jamon crudi Italiano (platter of cured ham) Salchicha parrillera hecha en casa (Homemade grilled sausage Main: Pichana: Beef top sirloin Potato fries Dessert: Flan: Egg custard This was an amzing meal... Let me repeat... amazing!!! It is true what they say about Argentian Beef. It is incredible. There is an amazing flavor that I have never seen replicated anywhere, The service was incredible-professional. If I return to Buenos Aires, every night will be steak night. While we waited outside with the rest of the crowd they gave us champagne and mini empanadas. So good. At 3:30 we were sat at a nice table in a small room with a few others. The ambience was quiet luxury in a rustic setting. No loud music (or any I think), just soft murmurs of conversation and the tinkling of cutlery kissing dishes. I felt like royalty. Before ordering they brought us endive with a delicious arugula pesto (sauce was amazing!!), yummy bread rolls and butter. For starters we ordered provoleta (grilled provolone) and for the entree ribeye and porterhouse with sides of salad greens and baby Brussel Sprouts. And a glass of house wine. My steak was the best porterhouse I've ever had. Period. It was huge, so tender, so delicious. Perfectly seasoned and cooked. My mouth is watering as I write this. The ribeye was perfection! No wonder people come from all over the world to drop tons of money on a meal here. It is sooo worth it. The server kindly cut the bone off my steak and set it off to the side which made for an uncrowded eating experience. The simple salad was delicious as were the perfectly grilled baby Brussels sprouts. Even the house wine was good. We were too full for dessert but they brought us complimentary alfajoritos to end our meal. I highly recommend making reservations when you visit. Which is a must!!

I check a couple weeks out for any night of the week and only was able to find outside tables online. I came here on a Wednesday night around 10:30 in hopes of getting it less busy than a weekend night. I only had to wait about 15 minutes and also got a free glass of champagne and a mini empanda. As I came in they offered me a tour of the wine cellar which was full of unique and old wines. They have a massive wine offering which I think is one of the things that helps them out on the Michelin guide. It's a classic steakhouse offering, probably best approached by sharing a few cuts with a table. But as I was here by myself I went for the tasting menu so I could try more things. They brought over some bread to start with chimichurri, as well as an odd amuse bouche of a single endive leaf with a pretty bland green sauce. The first course started off with a thinly slice of beef kinda like jerky meets prosciutto. Very flavorful and tender, loved it. Second course was a sausage that was incredibly juicy and exploding with flavor, one of the best sausages I've ever had. Then came a sweetbread course which I've never had before. It was very unctuous and rich, bit too heavy for my taste and sort of made me want to stop eating at this point. It came with a very basic salad with simple vinaigrette. The next two courses were a ribeye broken into two components, the eye and the rib cap. The eye came with another equally bland salad. The cap came with a table side preparation of a sweet potato which was honestly quite comical. Fine dining is known for beautiful table side prep, but scooping out the inside of a sweet potato and spooning over melted butter is amusingly basic. With no other seasoning here but salt it was again, very bland. Steak was fantastic and juicy, a bit on the rarer side than I would normally go for but I think this is never given the unique leaner quality of Argentine beef. Chimichurri was classic, oddly I was offered a spicy chimichurri half way through my meal which I preferred, unsure why it wasn't brought sooner. Bread courses were very standard, again nothing spectacular here. The sommelier helped me pick out a couple glasses of wine and was generally very helpful and attentive. The wine I had was solid but nothing crazy, elected for some of the cheaper choices since this was the most expensive meal I had in all of Argentina. Pumpkin ice cream was nice though oddly lacking in sweetness for a country that seems to take many things very sweet. Overall, this is such a classic and well known place that I felt it would be wrong not to check it out, yet I had heard there are better places at cheaper price points and I would now say that is very true. The beef quality here is fantastic and prepared well. Staff is attentive and helpful. But this really just doesn't present a fine dining experience as you might expect for a Michelin star. It feels like it fits more into the bib gourmand category. And at this price point it's really hard to feel like the price is justified. I dined at other places for way less including another Michelin star that was a true fine dining experience for a little over half the price. Much more courses with each element thoroughly thought out. The bland salads and side elements here don't detract away from the meat but they don't bring anything else to the table either. They feel like they exist to be a line item on a menu and nothing more. While I'm glad I got to try this place out, I likely wouldn't come back. There are less busy places with just as good of steaks for much lower the cost.

The best part is that this is a locals restaurant, and it has such a great feel. The minute you walk inm you are welcomed by a friendly staff and led to a table, we chose upstairs and were quickly seated. Our waiter was friendly and jovial, and spoke great english. He recommended a Malbec, and then we ordered a bunch of food, which came quickly. As we dined, the placed filled up quickly, and looking around, there was not an empty table in the place- upstairs or down. The restaurnat has an Italian family feel, white table cloths and worn, but classy china. Plus the grill is amazing. Overall, this place is excellent, and a local friend who I dined with said he will be making this place one of his regular stops!

The portions here are massive. And that's coming from someone who can usually put away a pretty serious steak. Here, though It's a lot even for me. Was it good Absolutely. But a little heads-up if you're visiting: learn how Argentinians order their meat. If you ask for jugoso, it'll land somewhere between rare and medium rare. Al punto is closer to medium, sometimes even leaning toward medium well depending on the kitchen. And well done. Honestly... don't even think about it. Another tip: don't rush to order sides. Unless you're just getting a salad or you're sharing with more than two people, one plate is usually more than enough. Around here, they believe in feeding you properly and they definitely deliver.

We walked in with no reservation. The lady out front' led us in. There are two other options inside. I checked in and was greeted by the nice hostess who let us sit in the waiting area as they prepared our table. The vibes inside gave classic olden times. We were here for it. I loved that I could see the sky when I looked up. I made a classic booboo and mentioned wanting fernet and coke cos that was what everyone was drinking at the futbol game the day before. The guy was like no. He then proceeded to make us a fernet cocktail. As we had so much steak the say before, we opted for the smaller size here. We got the ribeye. Paired with it was their amazing mushroom dish served in a skillet. My god. That was the best thing I ate that day. We also got the pasta. So damn good. The 3 went perfectly together. They do give a starter bite and post dessert bites. Those paired with our cappuccino nicely. The staff here was 10/10 - the FS standard. The other locations I've been fortunate enough to visit had just as equally amazing service. It's why I stay making it a point to visit one wherever I am.

Given that we were staying at the hotel, it made all the sense in the world to make this reservation. From the moment we sat down, the service was warm and attentive, striking that perfect balance between professional and personable. Our meal started with a very large and warm complimentary bread service, a small but welcome touch that unfortunately some institutions in the United States have foregone after the pandemic in the name of cost cutting and profit maximization. Here's what ordered: Appetizers: - Ajillo Squid & Prawns: fainá, fermented tofu emulsion - Charred Fritters: bagnacauda sauce Entrée & Sides: - 21 oz New York Strip: cooked medium, sliced for sharing - Thick-Cut French Fries Drinks: - Glass of Malbec (graciously comped for our honeymoon) - a complementary Champagne toast, also comped for our honeymoon The Ajillo Squid & Prawns had incredible flavors, with the unique, rich fermented tofu emulsion tying everything together. The Charred Fritters were perfectly crisp, and the bagnacauda sauce added just the right amount of savory to the fried coating of the fritters. Then, came the star of the night--the 21 oz New York Strip. Cooked to a flawless medium, sliced tableside, and served with only salt on the side (which it barely needed), this steak was as good as it gets. Juicy, very flavorful, and melt-in-your-mouth tender, it's clear why Elena is regarded as one of the best steakhouses in the world. The thick-cut fries were a great side dish, like the steak fries at any other steakhouse. But we both left the dinner thinking that we should've ordered something more "unique" as a side. As if the food wasn't enough, our server surprised us by comping my glass of Malbec, followed by champagne to toast our honeymoon during dessert, a thoughtful gesture that made an already fantastic meal even more special. Although prices were comparable to those pre-pandemic at American steakhouses, we both agreed that the quality and portion sizes were superior. We left completely stuffed and felt like we had received outstanding value for what we paid. Elena is the kind of place that makes a special occasion feel even more unforgettable. We decided to give it a shot for date night recently. It's a pretty spot, with an open kitchen, and they still have the waterfall at one end of the room. Service was attentive and friendly. The menu - a bit of sticker shock. Yeah, it's a hotel restaurant and all that, but... when one orders a chorizo for 130 pesos, one expects a little more than a single "chorizo bombon", a mini version of the classic sausage, about 3 bites, and accompanied by nothing but a little dish of chimichurri. Yes, it was a delicious chorizo, don't get me wrong, but that's a little steep. But, we'd known it was going to be a pricey night out, so no surprise for a 205 peso provoleta, likewise excellent, and topped with caramelized red onions and accompanied by a mildly spicy tomato sauce. My companion ordered up the ribeye steak - which is available in three sizes, he went with the smallest, which was still a 550 gram steak (670 pesos!), more than a pound, and accompanied by more chimichurri, some herbed croutons (not quite sure I get that - a little weird to put on a steak), and some roasted garlic cloves (yes please). Came out cooked a perfect medium rare, and properly seasoned, and was tender as could be. Since the steak didn't come with any sort of real side dish... he also ordered a side of roasted potatoes. Excellent. Actually, maybe the best thing on the table, they were perfectly cooked and seasoned. 165 pesos. And I went with the aforementioned pork cutlet milanesa. I have to say, I don't quite get the poetry to be waxing about. It's a decent pork cutlet, on the bone and pounded thin. It's breaded in what tasted like it might be cornflakes, which gave it a weird flavor. The accompaniment of a charred lemon was a nice touch, but they need to give you a... hygienic way to squeeze it over the pork - it's covered in oil which makes picking it up and squeezing it, even on the tines of a fork, a mess for one hand at a minimum. And a large spoonful of whole grain mustard is just sitting atop it - I don't get the spoon. The salad - pretty "plain jane" - some mixed lettuce leaves in a very basic vinaigrette. There's so much more they could have done, particularly in presenting something like this. 390 pesos. Add in a couple of waters, a couple of glasses of wine (140 pesos each, and very good quality), a 90 peso per person cubierto charge (and they have paper napkins on the table... come on, for that price, and being in a high-end hotel, use some real napkins!) and a tip, and we topped out at barely shy of 2400 pesos - roughly $56. Not outrageous, just expensive.
