As usual, I was just curious about their WarHammer collection and it was a decent amount. I liked their table set up for Warhammer ready with tape measures and landscape. They had Pokemon and MTG commander packs and boosters available as well, my only complaint is that there was no price tag on their boxes and when we asked them how much the commander box was, they were looking up prices on their phone for a few minutes before we got a response. It made me think that they were going above msrp and just seemed shady. Just make sure as a customer you have an idea of what you're willing to pay for product. I'm all for supporting standing stores versus online, but not on this visit.

The second time we dealt with his wife (Corey was not there) and she was friendly which was just fine. Now the third time we went we were looking for some destined rivals packs and/or booster boxes. We had picked out one booster bundle for me and one for my boyfriend and then realized he was selling a whole box set which we asked if we could get just the box set instead (this is all before purchase). He must of either jumped to conclusion or didn't understand what we were asking. He loudly scolded us for buying too much (which is insane as a business owner) and started to humiliate us with demeaning comments. He was saying that he had people he needed to sell to and would not let us buy anything else. Mind you the store is almost a 4x4 shoe box so everyone could hear a pin drop. I'm not sure why you have product on the shelf and were showing it to us if you didn't want us buying anything. Safe to say I went from an excited newbie mtg and Pokemon fan to being very uncomfortable in most shops I go to now. I do not know if Corey owns this shop purely to hang out with the only regulars he deems worthy or because he likes public humiliation towards customers but there is no way with the amount of attitude and disrespect he holds towards all customers that this business will last long. Save your hard earned money and look at reviews before checking a shop out.

I had a very disappointing experience with this store. I successfully registered for their One…read morePiece pre-release event and made arrangements to attend, including driving approximately 45 minutes to get there. When I arrived, I was informed that the staff had manually removed me from the event without providing any prior notice. The staff member stated that he was in charge of the gaming events and had the discretion to remove registered participants who were not considered frequent or regular players. While I understand that the store may have its own policies regarding event participation, removing someone who successfully registered without any advance communication is disappointing and unprofessional. If a successful registration through the Bandai registration system does not actually guarantee a spot and participation is ultimately at the store's discretion, that should be clearly disclosed on the registration page or event details. Customers should know this before registering and making plans to attend. At a minimum, if the store decides to remove a registered participant, a courtesy call, text, or email should be provided so customers do not unnecessarily rearrange their schedules or make a wasted trip to the store. People have jobs, families, and other responsibilities and have to coordinate their schedules to attend these events. Not everyone has the ability to attend every local event or regularly visit the store. The lack of communication and consideration for customers' time was extremely frustrating. Based on this experience, I would be hesitant to register for another event here.

There's plenty of parking, though they do share their parking lot with food chains like Buffalo Wild Wings and Red Lobster. The interior is very spacious and clean! The floor is absolutely gorgeous and the air duct work being painted like Mario's green pipes is hilarious. They have the biggest selection of used games and consoles, carrying all the classics and newest. It almost reminds me a little of sneaker resellers the way they have things shrink wrapped and behind glass cases. Additionally they sell Pokémon cards, plushies and amiibos! Staff was super friendly, and very helpful even willing to look for an item at one of their other locations. We both picked up some sweet new additions to our collection and will for sure be back!

We have spent the past 10 months collecting and spending thousands of dollars and he simply said we have two okay cards maybe worth grading but PSA isn't accepting any more for a while so out of luck. I asked him if he buys cards and sarcastically said yes and I asked what type of cards he buys and again sarcastically said "good ones". You would think card shops would like to make a kid coming in feel good about sports cards and collecting but my son left crying. How about trying to enlighten us a little more about card collecting add some encouragement. I will never step foot in there again and highly discourage anyone else from doing the same. I came in on the Pokémon 30th Anniversary release date and understood that Golden State has a markup on their products, but I was surprised by just how high the prices were. The MSRP for the ETB was $49.99, yet they were selling it for $160. At that point, I was seeing people selling the same product on Facebook Marketplace for $140-$150, so the store's pricing felt more comparable to scalper prices than a reasonable small-business markup. I ended up purchasing a 30th Anniversary EX box, but was disappointed to get home and see that it was actually $5 cheaper on TCGplayer (which was still overpriced). I completely understand that small businesses need to make a profit, and I'm happy to pay a reasonable premium to support a local shop. However, when prices are significantly above MSRP and even higher than readily available market prices online, it makes me question whether customer experience is still being prioritized. I genuinely enjoyed supporting this store when they first opened, which makes the change in pricing especially disappointing.

Sometime in my 30s though that all changed.As I got older,I came to appreciate the high quality of the medium,in regards to being able to have such complex stories work with such high quality artwork. So I started collecting comics and became a frequent customer to A-1 Comics in Roseville located on Sunrise Avenue. The top two things I love about this location are as follows. -Their employees really give excellent customer service.They are very helpful in assisting the customers in finding whatever they are looking for. A-1 has two other locations in the Sacramento area and multiple times I've been in Roseville and they were sold out of what I was looking for and they took it upon themselves to call their other locations to check if they had what I wanted-that's excellent customer service. -Second thing that truly stands out for me about A-1 is they aren't cheap on inventory-every week when new releases come out,they always have plenty of copies so that as many customers as possible have a good opportunity to get the issues they want-not all comic shops do this-others keep such limited inventory that they sell out too fast-A-1 rarely lets that happen. This Roseville location pretty much has its own parking lot,so there's always has plenty of parking available for its customers. In closing, I really do recommend this shop for all your comic needs-it's a pretty awesome place filled with pretty awesome employees and I always look forward to heading back out there.
