The second time we dealt with his wife (Corey was not there) and she was friendly which was just fine. Now the third time we went we were looking for some destined rivals packs and/or booster boxes. We had picked out one booster bundle for me and one for my boyfriend and then realized he was selling a whole box set which we asked if we could get just the box set instead (this is all before purchase). He must of either jumped to conclusion or didn't understand what we were asking. He loudly scolded us for buying too much (which is insane as a business owner) and started to humiliate us with demeaning comments. He was saying that he had people he needed to sell to and would not let us buy anything else. Mind you the store is almost a 4x4 shoe box so everyone could hear a pin drop. I'm not sure why you have product on the shelf and were showing it to us if you didn't want us buying anything. Safe to say I went from an excited newbie mtg and Pokemon fan to being very uncomfortable in most shops I go to now. I do not know if Corey owns this shop purely to hang out with the only regulars he deems worthy or because he likes public humiliation towards customers but there is no way with the amount of attitude and disrespect he holds towards all customers that this business will last long. Save your hard earned money and look at reviews before checking a shop out.

They genuinely enjoy being there and getting to know people. They are always so welcoming to my 4 year old and make conversation with him, instead of making us feel like we're an inconvenience. I came in on the Pokémon 30th Anniversary release date and understood that Golden State has a markup on their products, but I was surprised by just how high the prices were. The MSRP for the ETB was $49.99, yet they were selling it for $160. At that point, I was seeing people selling the same product on Facebook Marketplace for $140-$150, so the store's pricing felt more comparable to scalper prices than a reasonable small-business markup. I ended up purchasing a 30th Anniversary EX box, but was disappointed to get home and see that it was actually $5 cheaper on TCGplayer (which was still overpriced). I completely understand that small businesses need to make a profit, and I'm happy to pay a reasonable premium to support a local shop. However, when prices are significantly above MSRP and even higher than readily available market prices online, it makes me question whether customer experience is still being prioritized. I genuinely enjoyed supporting this store when they first opened, which makes the change in pricing especially disappointing.

My favorite Game store in Sacramento…read more It contains a large catalog of card, board, strategy and miniature games that will appeal to a casual laymen, a beginner, or the serious die hard enthusiast. There are 2 parts to this large store, the showroom area with all the games, miniatures for your perusing and purchasing pleasure. The staff are all friendly, knowledgeable and helpful in recommending a game you may like, or answering inquiries into availability or ordering a game they may not have in stock. The 2d part is large game room that is stocked with games you can test out, or just come in with your friends, or meet new friends and try them out. They publish a monthly schedule of tournaments, contests, or just open game playing. On this occaision, I came to one of the Semi Annual flea market bazaars, where anyone could sign up, for a small fee , get a space to sell their older games , or maybe crafts. There is No fee to be a shopper st the bazaar, so you can find some good deals on games, miniatures, cards, books, terrain, storage or dice. I scored a Zombicide game that was unpunched at a great price for my son & I to play. All in all, just a great store for any game enthusiast of every age from beginners to the hard core gamer.

Truthfully, I really don't think we have anything down there that compares to the size, selection, and value at Great Escape. This place was awesome! There's just so much to look at! Friendly customer service, great choice selection of games and tools, and if you sign up for their rewards at the register you get $2 off. I'm a new 40k enthusiast and really enjoyed hanging around here. The staff are very friendly and knowledgable. Their prices are reasonable and if you're someone who's interested in painting miniatures and all- definitely give this place a shot. They have everything you need here... you've got plenty of options. It's a pretty big establishment, the only weird thing is that it's hidden tucked away on the backside of the building. I went on a Saturday afternoon and really enjoyed it! I'm looking forward to exploring more of Sac's gaming scene.

My comic-book-collecting husband rarely leaves Big Brother empty handed. For Dungeons & Dragons fans, there is a wall full of character minis to choose from. I was so excited to find my characters and my friends' characters after not finding them at other comic book stores. They also have board games and accessories. I particularly love looking at the display cases. Lots of the figurines spark childhood memories which make the shopping experience extra fun. You can tell that each item is handled with care and priced appropriately for collectors. Don't forget to look up to admire the wall decorations! I am not a comic book person, but I do like visiting and walking around like I know what I'm looking at. My husband is a nerd for comics so we popped in to see what new stuff they had. I liked seeing all of the cool interesting games, books and figurines. They offer so much at this store and the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly! My husband bought the Ultimate Spiderman comic and my daughter picked out a Teen Titans Go book - I think it came out to a little over $30 for both so not too bad. Pricing was fairly decent - you get what you pay for and depending on the rarity! They even have a large room with tons of tables and chairs next door for gaming with friends. Overall, Big Brother Comics is a pretty cool store! I'm sure we'll be back soon!
