Decided to drop in at this little card shop while I was in the area and I am so glad I did. Huge collection of cards available for sale, very friendly and knowledge staff. The prices of the cards they had were reasonable as well. Overall, a really welcoming and friendly atmosphere. I will definitely be returning.

This card/tabletop game shop was welcoming and clean. There was a good variety of old school Magic, Pokémon, etc. and newer board games and tabletop games. They also had paint and other necessities for figures, wide open spaces for tables to play games, and it looked like they hosted tournaments as well.

There are plenty of tables for play, I believe this store is mostly a warhammer and mtg store.

My favorite Game store in Sacramento…read more It contains a large catalog of card, board, strategy and miniature games that will appeal to a casual laymen, a beginner, or the serious die hard enthusiast. There are 2 parts to this large store, the showroom area with all the games, miniatures for your perusing and purchasing pleasure. The staff are all friendly, knowledgeable and helpful in recommending a game you may like, or answering inquiries into availability or ordering a game they may not have in stock. The 2d part is large game room that is stocked with games you can test out, or just come in with your friends, or meet new friends and try them out. They publish a monthly schedule of tournaments, contests, or just open game playing. On this occaision, I came to one of the Semi Annual flea market bazaars, where anyone could sign up, for a small fee , get a space to sell their older games , or maybe crafts. There is No fee to be a shopper st the bazaar, so you can find some good deals on games, miniatures, cards, books, terrain, storage or dice. I scored a Zombicide game that was unpunched at a great price for my son & I to play. All in all, just a great store for any game enthusiast of every age from beginners to the hard core gamer.

Truthfully, I really don't think we have anything down there that compares to the size, selection, and value at Great Escape. This place was awesome! There's just so much to look at! Friendly customer service, great choice selection of games and tools, and if you sign up for their rewards at the register you get $2 off. I'm a new 40k enthusiast and really enjoyed hanging around here. The staff are very friendly and knowledgable. Their prices are reasonable and if you're someone who's interested in painting miniatures and all- definitely give this place a shot. They have everything you need here... you've got plenty of options. It's a pretty big establishment, the only weird thing is that it's hidden tucked away on the backside of the building. I went on a Saturday afternoon and really enjoyed it! I'm looking forward to exploring more of Sac's gaming scene.

If Sacramento ever needed a new motto (we've gone from "City of the Trees" to "Farm‑to‑Fork"), I'd…read morenominate "Good Enough." With so many State employees, "good enough for government work" fits a little too well. We've gained better boba spots since the pandemic, though still not at the Bay Area level. And from all the Bay Area people that I've met, they like Sac's housing prices, but miss their favorite restaurants. The Bay Area also has better board‑game cafes, but after my visit to Galaxy Game Cafe, I can say this one feels right at home, and that's good enough in the best possible way. (If you don't know, there's been a trend of Bay Area people moving to Sac). My friend suggested we check it out; he'd been before and enjoyed it. My first impression, was the "X" in "Galaxy" cleverly mimicking an X‑wing. Inside, a gallery of Star Wars 3.75" figures greeted us, with display cases thoughtfully placed throughout the store. It's a fun theme, and the shop fully embraces its geeky niche. A quick glance around the room revealed a game-focused layout. I was surprised because when I hear "cafe," I usually picture coffee, pastries, and light lunch options. If you just want a snack, Galaxy Game Cafe has you covered although there's no blue milk offered. My desire for more food variety was quickly forgotten once I looked at their game selection. I've been to game cafes where pieces are missing, boxes are dirty, or things are disorganized; the kind of place where you end up focusing more on your food than the game. Here, it was the opposite. I enjoyed my snacks and the games. In my small sample size (Dice Forge and Kronologic), everything felt like new. Out of curiosity, I checked Heat for expansions, but they seem to stick to base games, and again, everything looked liked like new. After we finished playing, I placed our games on the return shelf and realized they care enough to check. I appreciated the care they put into maintaining a good gaming experience- isn't that good enough? If you are in the area, I highly recommend them! They also list their board game collection on BGG: https://boardgamegeek.com/collection/user/GalaxyGameCafe

We came in to check out their amazing Star Wars figure displays and more importantly buy some new games. The owners made some great recommendations for our upcoming family gatherings. The second time we dealt with his wife (Corey was not there) and she was friendly which was just fine. Now the third time we went we were looking for some destined rivals packs and/or booster boxes. We had picked out one booster bundle for me and one for my boyfriend and then realized he was selling a whole box set which we asked if we could get just the box set instead (this is all before purchase). He must of either jumped to conclusion or didn't understand what we were asking. He loudly scolded us for buying too much (which is insane as a business owner) and started to humiliate us with demeaning comments. He was saying that he had people he needed to sell to and would not let us buy anything else. Mind you the store is almost a 4x4 shoe box so everyone could hear a pin drop. I'm not sure why you have product on the shelf and were showing it to us if you didn't want us buying anything. Safe to say I went from an excited newbie mtg and Pokemon fan to being very uncomfortable in most shops I go to now. I do not know if Corey owns this shop purely to hang out with the only regulars he deems worthy or because he likes public humiliation towards customers but there is no way with the amount of attitude and disrespect he holds towards all customers that this business will last long. Save your hard earned money and look at reviews before checking a shop out.
