**ORIGINALLY POSTED ON VACAVILLE OUTLET TUMI STORE BUT MENTIONED KEVIN IN CORTE MADERA FOR THE ENGRAVING EXPERIENCE.** I received a new laptop for Christmas and wanted to protect it with a nice bag that would last me forever. I began my search on Macy's.com where I have multiple gift cards and came across Tumi, but knew nothing of it so kept scrolling. I found myself at the Vacaville Outlets in other luxury brand stores with a budget of sub $200 for a new bag. I saw backpacks, briefcases, slings, and women's purses that match that description but none that I thought would be durable long term. The Samsonite store was the next stop, then I saw the Tumi logo outside the store. I turned to my boyfriend and said, "We have to check out that store, I know nothing of it!" We were quickly greeted by Daniela who is The Gem of Tumi stores. Coming from sales myself, I'm naturally drawn to and identify genuinely passionate people who are happy where they work. That's Daniela. She did a needs analysis and asked me questions like, "What will you be using the bag for? How will you be using it? What do you expect the bag to do for you?" ETC ETC. That's when she pointed to my beautiful Ashton briefcase laptop bag shown in the photo. IT DOES EVERYTHING I NEEDED IT TO DO AND MORE. I expected great padded protection, lots of zippered compartments to hold chargers for an iPad, phone, buds, and more. Even my work binder fits in the main compartment, a 3-ring medium sized binder with a notepad inside. What was also very important to me was style, obviously coming from Coach and Michael Kors previous to stepping in. The tag was nearly $100 more than budget but I opted to get it because of Daniela, really. Without her, I would have settled for a nice looking bag down the way at Coach that checked all my boxes, nothing more and nothing less. And was $189. Without Daniela, I wouldn't have known about the materials that make up the bags and appreciated why it's made that way compared to competitor brands. I also wouldn't have known about the great warranty offered through Tumi and the registration of my bag on the Tumi website, in the event some good samaritan found my bag and wanted to return it to me. I also wouldn't have known to go to the Corte Madera Tumi store to get my bag personalized as seen in the photo. What a great touch! My boyfriend and I made our way there on a day trip last week to get that done with Kevin because that store has the machine capable of engraving. And how equally helpful Kevin was and solidified why we were making our purchase with a great company. Kevin likely walked back and forth a dozen or so times to make sure I was 100% happy with the engraved patch. Once installed, I just KNEW this was the best purchase I've made it awhile and I'm so happy I experienced this with such great customer service. Thanks Daniela and Kevin. I can't wait to make my next Tumi purchase! Cheers!

Kevin was a big help in transferring an item from Santana Row. Great service, would come back to him for more products.

I thought this may be normal because it's brand new and that they will eventually stop coming out. They did not. I've had it for about three months and the feathers continue to come out. I washed it once according to the washing instructions in hopes this would solve the problem but it didn't. I contacted their customer service three times and they never responded. I went on their chat option on their website and expressed my concerns with the jacket. They were most unhelpful. They told me that I need to take it to an Eddie Bauer store but there isn't one anywhere near where I live. I purchased it online not at a store. They said it's been over 60 days since I purchased it so there is nothing they can do. I told them I have been trying to get in contact with them for weeks but nobody responded. They couldn't care less and said the best they could do is offer me 20% off which was about $12. What a joke. This jacket is obviously defective but they wouldn't do anything else for me. Their products are terrible quality, overpriced and they have horrible customer service. Don't order anything from them because you will be disappointed.

"People are dying in the world, and you are making drama over shoes." - is a beautiful quote I…read morereceived instead of an apology when picking up destroyed shoes. Brought 3 pairs of suede shoes for cleaning. When I arrived to pick them up, one pair was ruined - all discolored plus suede was treated incorrectly with water, so it all shrunk. When I pointed it out, I was not met with an apology, but instead, and I'll quote: - "they are supposed to be this color" - "no, they are supposed to be all white" *shows a photo* -"they were already like that, otherwise you wouldn't have brought them here!" -"they were only dirty next to the sole, now they are entirely discolored. Also, this pair was over $1k - how do you suggest we resolve this?" -"are you seriously making drama over a pair of shoes? People are dying in the world! And there are better ways to spend a thousand dollars than on a pair of shoes! You can just take them but you will pay me for the other 2 pairs!" The man clearly didn't know how to clean suede, and I would have really appreciated it if he would have been honest and not accepted the job. Instead, he decided to attempt it, which resulted in permanent damage. The craziest part, still, is how aggressively defensive he got, refusing to take any responsibility and making inappropriate comments. For that last part of the conversation he was even kind of yelling at me already. I was frankly just a little intimidated by this man, so I gave him whatever payment he was demanding and quickly left. Nuts!

Had my watch for six months. Never fixed it. If you can't repair it, don't accept it.read more

I went in Sunday and there was a woman with glasses. She could not have been bothered to talk to me or really help me. I found a pair of pants and tried them on. They were great. I was prepared to try on more items, and buy some things. The lady could not have been bothered, so I just left. It was unfortunate. She just ignored several hundred dollars worth of sales. The only person who I have come across who works there that is nice, is a cute asian lady who loved my dog once when I brought him in. She was friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately, the experience I had with the staff was pretty rude and deterred me from shopping there and I haven't gone back since. A few weeks ago I went into the store, looked through their body & fragrance products and I pulled out my phone to take a photo of a beautiful perfume oil so I could look up the brand to research if they were natural & non-toxic when I got back home (since the FDA allows fragrance products to be sold without disclosing any potentially harmful ingredients). It's also not my style to splurge randomly on a big ticket item without giving it some consideration, so this is what I do to remember the names of products if I were to go back. However, the shop clerk (who was also sadly not that knowledgeable either) said--in a way that was *not* polite or cordial--that this was against their policy and asked what the photo was for. She then proceeded to tell me that lately the Internet is becoming a larger shopping destination than brick-and-mortar (thank you for that news) and that they would rather I not take a photo in case I was planning on going home and buying the product elsewhere online. First of all, I completely understand that risk. If I were a retail shopkeeper would also prefer that customers not use my store to discover great products only to buy them elsewhere. Second of all, there is a way to communicate this without coming off as unwelcoming or rude. The ONLY way brick-and-mortar will survive in this "Amazon age" (that I was so thoughtfully schooled in) is by prioritizing excellent service. Making your customers feel *welcome* and like they are building a positive relationship with you when they could be going to 1000s of other stores is *important.* But I did NOT feel like I was being welcomed at all. I don't want to make any assumptions here, but I also am 100% convinced that if I "looked" more like their typical clientele--white, middle-aged, blonde woman--then I would have looked more like someone who would drop more serious cash, and I would have been treated differently. Instead, I'm younger than MOST of the customers in the entire shopping center, it feels like, and I was dressed casually in yoga pants and Ugg boots, which probably does nothing to make me look older--and I already get told that I look years below my 25 years of age. Finally, if I want to find a product at a store and buy it online, a clerk policing my freedom to use my iPhone however I want will NOT change that. I am never one to trash small local businesses that are trying to get by or curating beautiful items. But I don't like the idea of anyone else going to that store being treated in such a disappointing way when they are going into a store EXCITED to buy themselves a treat. I hope this review motivates the store to train their staff to be cordial and welcoming to everyone who walks in through their door, regardless of whether they fit their typical clientele persona.
