Don't be dissuaded by the vegan/vegetarian labels, as an omnivore this was one of the best Mexican meals I've had in town. Simple counter-service atmosphere, with about 9-10 dining tables and cool art on the walls, a daily menu plus regulars, and a good variety of coffees, teas, and juices. I ordered the tamales because that's what I order if it's on the menu. The tamale was a perfect sweet and savory ratio, always appreciate the green olives, and it had a bit of heat from the jalapeños. I like that they serve "all powers", so you get rice and beans, both delicious, AND a side of greens. I was surprised they were raw/cold at first but they actually paired really well with everything. Pico, guac, and I think pickled onions also accompanied. Definitely a fresh, unique, and healthy-feeling meal. I also should've ordered chips and more of the guacamole as well. The cashier was super friendly, greeting regulars with a "welcome back" and going over the menu and restaurant concept for first-timers like myself. The service was attentive and also very friendly. Chef Wendy Garcia is a James Beard semifinalist and an expert in magically elevating traditional Mexican food that is vegetarian and vegan. I decided to check go for the daily Cuban Tacos, Jackfruit version, complete with all of "the powers," which are the magic sides of rice, beans, salsa, lime, tortillas, cashew cream and guacamole. I also decided to go with the Turmeric Lemonade, a crowd favorite. After you order from the counter from the incredibly friendly staff member, you are given a number and can sit anywhere within a very large inside dining space. Within a few minutes, the plate arrives and my immediate response was that this was a colorful, masterful work of art. Everything looks delightful and I couldn't wait to experience what everyone else has been sharing. It didn't disappoint. Absolutely amazing flavor depth for all of the elements. Everything works so great together and is incredibly satisfying. The Turmeric Lemonade is outstanding. I have never had anything like it. With such an incredibly fresh and vibrant rotating menu, you have to go back and experience it all. It's definitely one of the best restaurants I have had for elevated Mexican vegetarian cuisine. Located on the south side of 6th Street just eat of Tucson Blvd., you'll find Tumerico. A few parking spaces out front with some directly in back. My only regret was that I didn't have access to it during my tenure as a University of Arizona student. Vegan and veggie lovers can rejoin without missing out. The chilaquiles here have never failed us nor has the very attentive staff. Great location within Sam Hughes neighborhood. Parking is limited but there is street parking nearby a short walk away. The flavors are savory and meld together well. The jackfruit in our dish had all the flavors of the real deal and the tortilla chips remained crispy which I swear is some kind of secret. Beautiful wall paintings on the inside. I drove an hour from Eloy to get some good vegan food after having mediocre food options for a few days while visiting from out of town. The place was packed, with a line out the door the whole time I was there. The reviews definitely reflected the passion for food that this place has. I have found that healthy food options are less frequent in AZ than what I am used to in CO, so I was grateful to see kombucha being sold, along with fresh juices. I got both. I also decided to get two meals, one for now and another for later. Ropa Vieja Plate - 10/10 - amazing! The jackfruit was succulent, mixed with poblanos and mushrooms, was coated in lots of sauce, boasting lots of flavors! I finished the whole meal and enjoyed every bite. Tamale Plate - 8/10. Now... mind you, I took this home and reheated it later. So that could 100% have an impact on the food. I found the tamales to be quite dry, with lots of starchy veggies inside. There was good heat and good flavor, but difficult to eat because there wasn't much moisture or sauce in them (and I made sure not to over-heat them, and covered them to retain moisture when reheating). I found that the olives were a little weird with the taste in general - doesn't seem to fit in with this type of cuisine (but what do I know?). Unfortunately, not the best tamales I have had, but I cannot tell you if that's the same experience when they're fresh. Overall, the service was super fast. Portions were enormous. The healthy options were so welcoming. I enjoyed all my food and I could feel the care that was put into making it. The place is packed, so take your meal to go. There's a park 1 minute's drive away from the restaurant where you can eat outside and get some fresh air. That's what I did. Definitely recommend it, whether you're vegan or not! But the first several times I ate here, I was hungry a hour later, even though the meal was quite caloric. Well, today I found the trick. I always love to try new and unique places to eat. So when we made a trip down to Tucson recently we decided to give this place a try. My dad had seen this place on Triple D and knew my daughter was a vegetarian so he recommended it to us. First off I can't say enough good things about the staff. They were all super friendly and welcoming. Plus they were helpful explaining the menu to us and they constantly made sure we had everything that we needed and if everything was ok. Great service! I've had vegan food before but this food was unique and delicious. It's amazing how the jackfruit had such a similar texture to shredded chicken and pork. The menu looks like it changes daily. My wife and daughter got the Cuban tacos and I got the Chiken Enchiladas. Everyone really enjoyed their means and were shocked at how good they were. If you are Vegan this place is a must try. The exterior makes it look like it'll be a small, tight restaurant. What a pleasant suprise it was for us to find it open and spacious, especially since we had a stroller! Vegan food heaven! The whole restaurant is vegetarian, much of it fresh and homemade, including house-made vegan meats. They do use dairy cheese - no vegan cheese available - so when you ask for vegan style, they just remove the cheese. The service is fast and great, both for take-out and dining in.
