I enjoyed my Al pastor tacos and sides. I love seeing true spinach as a salad on a plate. I am happy there is representation for non carnivorous diets or lactose sensitive diets. However, I think they are way way overpriced. They do let you know everything is local and obviously local sources can be a reason for a higher price tag but a $17 dollar plate of two tacos, rice, beans and a salad and a $7 cappuccino is way way over priced. Knowing this food intimately as a Hispanic person, it's a bit of an insult to take humble foods and call them elevated once you remove the meat and charge $24 for a single meal. Their business is definitely curtailed to shut out the population that this food comes from. Parking lot is also too small for the amount they sit. read more

Let me just say Tumerico is the best Latino Vegan restaurant in southern arizona! Yes I said it the food never disappoints, I've been going here for the past 5+ years. The service is amazing, they greet you in line and ask if you've ever been here so they can explain their menus and provide recs. The service is quick. Wowwwww wow wow. This is some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. Like top 5. Ever. The mole enchiladas were divine. It is healthy(er) food. I'm torn. I have visited Tumerico numerous times, the food great, plentiful and full of unique flavor. I lauded their culinary delights near and far, and would routinely recommend this place at the drop of a hat. However, the last time I'm unsure if it was an off night or what, but the food was meh. Really meh. The signature rice seemed as if it came out of the box (like a rice a roni box) and the black beans had zero flavor as if they were poured from a can. The entrée was so underwhelming that I forgot what I ate. The Honey's plate was so small he was hungry after eating (that was never the case before). We used Tumerico last year for a lunch event at work, the catering was reasonable and plentiful. I'm sorry, Tumerico, but we'll need to part ways: the catering order went up by 135% and the delivery fee increased by 450%! We were looking for a dinner place after checking out the Titan Missile Museum and saw this place which had almost a 5 star rating on Yelp. Given that it's vegan/vegetarian, I was initially really against going here since well... I like my meat. However, I decided to be a bit open-minded and try something new. The menu is written on chalkboards and can feel a bit overwhelming; I think we spent a good 10-15 minutes thinking before deciding what to order. I ended up getting the al pastor tacos since that's what I would usually order at a regular Mexican restaurant, but mainly because I didn't really know what most of the other items were. Overall, the tacos were pretty good and exceeded my expectations for vegan/vegetarian food, but the al pastor just didn't really taste that close to the real al pastor. The food was good, but I won't be eating here again or recommending to anyone. Not only do they allow dogs inside the dining area, but they also have no problem with dogs sitting on the chairs at tables. I saw this twice in the 30 minutes I was at Tumerico's on 6th this weekend. If you have an issue with sharing dining chairs with an animal that could have worms or fleas and that eats feces, trash, and dead things, then you probably shouldn't dine at this establishment. If you have allergies to dog dander, then you shouldn't eat here. And if you would rather your server not handle a dirty dog bowl before delivering your plate, then don't eat here. Tumerico does not care about you or your rights. There are tons of Mexican restaurants in Tucson that abide by county health regulations and that have way better food. read more

First visit here yesterday, lunch for 4. Quite possibly the best vegetarian meal I've ever had. Everyone raved about how good the food was. I had the poblano pepper entree, not sure it was called (pictured below). The peppers were cut into strips and sautéed in a nice sauce. It was particularly good when mixed with the orange pickled onions next to them on the plate. What I really appreciated in the dish was the variety of different foods on the plate - vegetarian entrees can get kinda boring when you are eating the same stuff for the whole meal. This had guacamole, pico de gallo, rice black beans, and a great little spinach/broccoli salad that had some quinoa mixed in for starch & protein. All the flavors worked well together. The building is nothing special, and the interior is pretty spartan. I wouldn't want to sit on the chairs for too long. Service is fast casual - order at the counter, you get a number and they bring your meal out to you. Ours came pretty quickly. The server stopped back once or twice to check on us, but water is self-serve so we took care of our own beverage service. They have a few tables out front, but don't count on any of them being open. The menu changes daily - just pick something that sounds good, everything is wonderful at this place! We got there early, around 11AM. By the time we departed the line stretched to the door, so you might want to avoid peak times. I WILL be back! read more

I visited Tumerico on Saturday morning about 30 minutes after they opened, and I had an amazing experience! Nothing but kind and friendly faces from the moment we walked in. I order the Al pastor burrito and a horchata latte. My mom ordered the potato tacos and a mazapan latte. We were both so impressed with our food and drink! The burrito was delicious, but a bit spicy for me so I would probably try something else next time. The rice and beans are self serve by the salsa bar and they are DELICIOUS. I had seen this place for awhile from frequenting Borderlands and Flora's which are also in the area, but I finally decided to come in after I saw they were at the top of yelp's 100 places to eat in the US. I have no idea how this place was voted #1 in the entire country...just speaking truthfully. Me and my family decided to visit here last weekend while in town for Monster Jam and I were looking for a vegan spot to eat at. My husband found this place online, and it said that they were voted #1 in the country?! We spent $54 on 2 Adult Plates, 1 Kids Plate, and a 2 Cookie Desserts. I wish I could get my money back. Everything was extremely bland in flavor (not salted enough and completely lacking umami/savory taste) especially for Mexican Food! They provide Salt & Pepper (which looked heavily used by how much was gone out of the shakers), but that wasn't enough to even make the lunch tolerable, and this was before noon! The salsa had no flavor either (green or red). The spinach salad was drenched in oil, and that was about it. The rice, again, no flavor whatsoever. The rosewater cookie was okay, and the oatmeal cookie was the only saving grace here. The ambiance reminded me of an old folks cafeteria or bingo hall; cheap tables and chairs, no decor except for some painting on the walls, and very much emphasizing "self yourself". The parking was not good either...had to park across the street and jaywalk it over. Please save your money, and tastebuds, and go find somewhere else if you're looking for something tasty; I wish we would have :( read more

We are a mixed family (some vegan, vegetarian, and carnivores) so we love finding a place that we can all eat together & enjoy. We tried out this spot today after some sight-seeing on Mt. Lemon & cave exploring at Colossal Caves. We were hungry, and me the carnivore was skeptical that my hunger would be satisfied by what the kids & wife were leaning towards. I have to admit it was not only good, but silenced the rumble in my stomach. The customer service was great, very friendly, greeted us and as we left thanked us for coming. Plenty of seating(much larger than expected) with very clean & great smelling restrooms. Dining area was comfortable, and had some very nice murals throughout. The food arrived quickly, hot and more than expected. I was wondering how my burrito was so pricey (to me), but when plate arrived was nicely surprised to see it was just not a burrito, but had side items. I enjoyed my dish (said spicy), but it was tasty and not over the top spicy, just a nice kick. The Vegans said they enjoyed thier food also and that what I thought was $$$, was in-line with eating healthy- LOL.
