I saw this new restaurant on Instagram and the video made it look great, so my husband and I decided to try the Manteca location this past Saturday. First off, it's on the older side of town -- no big deal -- but we had a hard time finding it since there was no visible sign out front. That probably should've been the first warning sign. We walked in through the bar area (not sure if that's the main entrance) and the doors were wide open. People at the bar just stared at us until a waitress finally came over and seated us. The place itself didn't look new at all. The menu was small and missing some basics like grilled chicken options. My husband ordered a lemonade and I got water -- his drink never arrived. It took quite a while for our food to come out. I ordered the pozole, and he ordered shrimp empanadas. My soup arrived first, and unfortunately, it was just warm, not hot. We waited and waited for his food, but it never came. When we finally mentioned it to the waitress, she rushed to the kitchen, and we waited even longer. The restaurant wasn't busy, and there seemed to be plenty of staff, so it was confusing why everything took so long. When we finally finished eating, it took forever to get our check. Overall, the food was mediocre, the service was slow, and the overall atmosphere was questionable. My daughter took me here for an additional birthday dinner. We were greeted upon entry and the restaurant was spacious and decorated as if you were in Mexico. The food was amazing. It was authentic and fulfilling. The service that we received from Sara was top tier as well. She checked on us periodically to make sure everything was good and if we needed any additional items. She suggested drinks as well as food seeing it was our first time there. My daughter informed her it was my birthday and towards the end of our dinner several staff members and Sara came over with light up party noise makers and a birthday shot that was delicious. read more

We were really excited about this place opening because it's around the corner from our house. We walk in and the welcoming was 5 stars! However, that's where that experience ended. Drinks were ok but weak. I ordered the Chicken De Tinga tostadas and my chicken was ice cold. My husband ordered the pozole and it was so bland. During the meal we asked for Chips and Salsa and our waitress brought out a side of Chile Oil and a side of seasoning? I've never been to a Mexican restaurant that doesn't offer chips and salsa as your sit down. I dont think we will be back as there are lots of options in town. read more

The pozole was very authentic and came with plenty of side dishes and spices to customize the flavor just the way you like it. The staff was incredibly friendly and checked on us throughout our visit, which made the experience even better. My husband ordered a tostada and enjoyed every bite, the flavors were well blended and delicious. My only small critique is that the restaurant felt a little chilly, but I do tend to run cold, so that may just be personal preference. Overall, a great meal and welcoming atmosphere. read more

The restaurant is beautiful and inviting. All the employees are polite but seem to lack familiarity with their own menu or alternatives available when you can't eat a certain ingredient or food. We tried this restaurant twice and had the same experience with two different waiters. Another thing, what Mexican restaurant doesn't have fresh salsas?!? This was very disappointing as salsas are the final touch to any true Mexican dish or to even enjoy with some chips. Lastly, food lacks seasoning. We ordered guacamole twice, both times I found myself adding more salt and mixing it to get the right balance. Otherwise, we would be eating salt less guacamole. Enchiladas dish, great portions but bland. Again, lacking seasoning. Shrimp mango cocktail, too sweet. Sopes de asada, meat was served cold and dry. Once again, bland lacked seasoning. I DoorDashed a chorizo burrito from here this morning and the flavor was okay, the side salad was a nice touch however, nowhere in the description does it mention that the burrito had bell peppers in it and it was A LOT of them! Service was not very good for not being busy, there was 2 other tables including ours in the whole restaurant yet we had to constantly ask for more water and boxes for leftovers multiple times, the automatic gratuity taken did not match the service that was received. We've been here twice already. The food is tasty, the restaurant's look is fine and clean. The staff seem like they need a bit more time to get up and running, but they just opened recently so I have high hopes for them to eventually become a 5-star Yelp restaurant, which the city needs immensely. read more

She was so kind, attentive, patient, and made sure everything was perfect for our table even though it was EXTREMELY busy. Was so excited to try it out and unfortunately it was a miss! We got there and it was hot in the place. Sat at the bar while we waited for our table, bartender was slammed and by himself. Drink was good but not $16 worthy! Ordered a molcajete and shrimp empanadas and had 2 more drinks.. $160 ... not worth it.. the molcajete was soupy and no cheese...lacked flavor..the empanadas were okay...not much flavor.. our second round of drinks was horrible... it was missing an ingredient. Barbacoa plate was delicious although I would have enjoyed some salsa and a lemon wedge (( I actually took the wedge off my drink for my food)). It wasn't till later that I looked around and saw another customer with a bottle of what looked like green tomatillo salsa . Personally I think the drinks are way overpriced ! A Can soda comes in at $4, and a lemonade at $7. Drinks like a margarita are also cutting it close to the same price as a meal which I'm not willing to pay . I also tried the green chile enchiladas and they were delicious. The decor within the restaurant is okay ...not the biggest fan of fake plants hanging but hey ‍ to each their own . The location is spacious and they have a large screen towards the back . No chips and salsa served , I rarely eat at Mexican restaurants because hello Mexican food at home . We tried Tulum Mexican Restaurant today and we really, really liked the Green Chili Chicken Enchiladas. The service was great and they kept checking in on us if we needed anything. They had great Mexican music playing, although it was a little bit too loud. All in all it was very good and I definitely will be back and trying their breakfast! read more

A lot of hype about this restaurant so I was excited to check it out , so we took the drive to check this place out. Very nice setting I will give it that and that's what the 1 star is for. To me, it was overpriced, overhyped and underachieved at the same time. The salsas were very weak and runny as you can't even scoop it with a chip that I had to buy as they don't even offer chips with salsa like most Mexican restaurants do , You have to buy them. At the same time, the guacamole had no flavor nor seasonings like all the food we had tried, had to use pepper and salt and mix some watery salsa in it just to be able to eat it as it was pure smashed avocados with no veggies no lime nor salt or pepper . We tried this place twice to give it a chance and both times was a very bad experience. The food is bland and needs flavor across the board. Very disappointing, I hope things change for them but sad to say we will not come back to this place. Service is also another area that they lacked in missing some side items ordered, and after asking a few times they never came. The food was served and we didn't see our waiter for at least 10 minutes. I had to get up to go ask for Lemons and napkins myself . Small portions, very expensive and the food is weak !!!! On the way out the manager did ask me how was everything, so I decided to let him know what I thought and was trying to make some suggestions as I pulled him to the side but then he didn't want to hear it and pretty much rushed me out and mind me I was being polite and quiet about it to him to be respectful. Went for lunch with my friends. And when we arrived the men brought us to be be seated. We were all sitting in a line from back to front in one area of the restaurant you can't pick where to sit. I asked him if we can sit in the other side since is empty and didn't want to be squished in the middle like everyone else. He said no that and that that's how we have to sit . Only 2 hostesses for everyone during lunch time. Took 20 minutes to be asked if we wanted something to drink and another 55 minutes to get our food. And let me tell you that they have the prices like it's a high end restaurant. Drinks are 18 dollars and if I want to get a taco it will cost you 19 dollars. For that price just go to chámpala here in town and they have the best tacos. And only 2.75. And the end the food took too long and had no flavor and way too overpriced. Will not be going anymore. As you walk in, they have a nice bar to the left and two large booth seating areas on the right. Once you pass the bar, you enter the dining area. They have really nice green and tropical decor. You can sit in either one of the booths, a regular table or a high table in the back. There is plenty of seating here. While we were enjoying the scenery, we were greeted by the owner and one of the servers. I have to say that everyone working there are one of the nicest wait staff I've ever met. Everyone is SO NICE! Once we were seated at a booth, I ordered Esquites as an appetizer and the steak sopes as my main dish. The sopes come with three and they are filling! I was only able to eat two. My family members with me ordered Mole de Pollo, Tacos Al Pastor and Chicken Tinga Enchiladas. Everything we ate was DELICIOUS!! We had the Jamaica for our drink and they came in a beautiful ceramic cup. They also have several different drinks on the menu, from Mimosas to tequila shots, soft drinks, classic drinks, Jamaica, and more! They have a variety of desserts which include: cheesecake, mini pan dulce, flan, molten chocolate cake & churro ice cream. The service was excellent, the food was delicious and the place is amazing! The food was really good full of lots of flavor, when you first walk in it's a little confusing because there is no podium, but there's always a gentleman who's there to receive you who is super friendly name Rodolfo "el parcero" . As far as the service goes we've been here several times And we understand that they are just starting off and working extremely hard and working out the kinks so anybody getting upset about faster, service or anything like that is being too hard on A new Business, as far as the ambience I really like what they did with the place they have really good taste and you can tell the invested a decent amount of money to make it look the way it does . Wanting to try something new, I'd suggested Tulum for our monthly dinner social. We are a party of five. I was a bit leery, considering the mixed reviews I'd read, but upon arriving we were greeted by a friendly gentleman, who seated us promptly. The place is clean and spacious--nice decor. Our waitress (Itzel), greeted us with chips and salsa, then took our order for beverages and appetizers. Appetizers ordered: Asada Nachos, Guacamole, Queso Fundido. Appetizers were served fresh and tasty, especially the guacamole (spiced just right). One of the reviews complained about the music. So I had that review on my mind while dining and conversing with my friends (we're an older age group). Actually, music was playing in the background, but it was given all of us "Fiesta" vibes. We ordered dinner. Tostadas de Tinga; Chicken Enchiladas (green sauce); Coctel de Camarón; Tacos Al Pastor. The food was served generously plated (reasonably priced), and no one complained (cause we can be a bit high maintenance...lol). It's just way too expensive for the amount of food you get. The food is okay but not great or worth the price. The atmosphere is vibrant, REALLY loud.
