I had high hopes. The food wasn't bad, it just didn't hit my expectations. Steak was good but not exceptional. My hubby loved it. The creme caramel taste just like flan. Truffle pasta was ok.

Love this place. Service is on the slower side but food is worth it. One of the best meals our sons plowed through everything we ordered.Florentine steak was absolutely amazing. They will only cook it rare.

The absolute worst meal experience in two weeks in Italy, starting with the quality of food. Unremarkable and shockingly out of context with reviews. Meatballs and beans were not homemade and looked like they came out of a can. Sauce not homemade; meatballs were 1/2" thick and tasteless. Beans were just thrown on the plate with a bit of sauce. Artichoke hearts all was cold and tasteless. Another dish thrown on the plate; tasted from a can. Veal chops were thin and had some flavor, but unremarkable. Pasta Pepe was decent, as was the eggplant parm; but not top notch. Mellon and prosciutto presentation was strange. Two thin slices of Mellon on one plate; prosciutto just thrown on the other. Bread was day old. And to top it off, the server was unfriendly and unresponsive then got mad when we refused to enter a tip. Just a bad experience. There are so many Better options in Rome.

This restaurant is very charming. The decoration and ambience felt like we were sitting in an Italian grandma's dining room. We sat by a utensils and bread drawer. It was fascinating watch them grab bread and cut it fresh in front of you. The food was delicious and the service was good!

Centrally located, this hidden gem is upscale, slightly dated elegant, appointed restaurant of pristine white linens filled with Italian locals who are specifically there to enjoy fresh, Tuscan-style cuisine. Servings, by American standards, will appear on the smaller side, but all the dishes are traditionally prepared and wonderfully executed. The artichoke appetizer is to die for, and the pasta and fish were delicious. Everyone was warm and friendly. Do make a reservation in advance though as seating is limited.

If you want to get away from the tourist traps at the Trevi fountain, this is less than 10 minutes walk from there on a quiet street.

It is…read morequite close to the Trevi Fountain so I don't recommend eating outside as there will be lots of people walking around. Inside, the atmosphere is nice and warm. The service is so friendly and very fast. It was the only restaurant that gave us bread and a little dessert as part of the service. I ordered the cacio e pepe and the carbonara because I could not make up my mind and both were delicious. Both dishes I would recommend. Portions are a bit bigger than other places I had tried during my trip but the pasta is just different in Italy. It does not make you bloated.

The issue I had was that I was in a super heavy tourist area and all of the restaurants we were walking past had people outside trying to lure us in. I wanted to avoid places like that, however via Yelp I discovered Il Chianti a short walk away. While still I assumed still touristy, the reviews were great and as we approached they weren't trying to lure us in, so we decided to try them out. I take this place is very popular since I noticed a sign instructing diners for form a line as we walked up to the restaurant. However, there was no line to be found and we were seated right away. Curb appeal is lovely, they have a decently-sized outdoor seating area though we opted to sit inside. The interior is a good size and compartmentalized into different rooms. The aesthetics are mostly classic with medium to dark wood tones. The menu contained some Tuscan dishes but also several that were more common outside of the region. We decided to start with two of their apps - a cheese plate and bread with fatty prosciutto, pistachio, and honey. The cheese plate was great, I love cheese and this one delivered - there was a good variety and the plate was paired with a few complements. The bread was great - the combination of the fatty prosciutto with the honey and nuts made for a great experience. There was a small salad in the center of the dish which was a welcome reprieve from the heaviness of the app. For my main I decided to get pasta - the paccheri with tomato sauce and burrata was speaking to me. The dish was great - pasta was cooked well and all of the components were super fresh. I've tried burrata in may settings but rarely in a pasta dish - it worked well and now I'll be seeking it out more often. Service was good - everyone was very friendly and there was a good pace to the rate our dishes came out. Overall, we had a great experience at Il Chianti - in a sea of touristy spots by the Trevi, this stands out as a noteworthy option for a good meal.

This is super disappointing because this restaurant is easily one of the highlights of the family's trip in Europe. Dal Toscano's history dates back to 1938 founded and still operated by the Bruni Family. This traditional Tuscan cuisine restaurant is super popular amongst locals and is well situated in the Prati Neighborhood in Rome and a stone throw from the Vatican. While dining there, 99% customers there are locals and the staff pretty much only spoke Italian. I am suspecting that is also why so many tourists wrote negative reviews because of communication difficulties. And yes there is a little bit of pretentiousness since it's a white table cloth experience geared up towards the working executives in the area. As for the foods they are best explained as "heavenly" as the bistecca and the pastas are really darn good. Despite the sanitary scare we will definitely be returning when we are back in Rome.

This is very much where the locals go. We were there for lunch and it was clear who were the regulars. Google reviews are mixed because the tourists don't seem to get a consistent experience. There are reviewers who say they got treated bad because they're asian. Well, maybe they deserved it...I know how asians in restaurants can be. I'm asian and i was treated and served very well, but i spoke to them in Italian the entire time; they knew we were clearly not locals. The food is ridiculously good and i felt i was treated well.
