Ordered a chicken and steak burrito and tres leches cake piece. Everything was TERRIBLE. For the cost of their food I expected more. The burrito filling was just meat, beans, and rice (but the rice that comes as a side dish, peas and carrots included) which was odd to me. They came with mixed vegetables on the side, almost like a salad. No type of sauce in the burritos or on the side. Only thing was the sour cream lightly placed on top. Fail. The tres leches was even worse! It was peach flavored, which I'm actually a fan of, but it didn't seem to be tres leches at all. Delicious tacos in a friendly, lively atmosphere. The restaurant is like a cafeteria, with families piling in, and at one point a Mariachi duo came in to play during the dinner rush. I was strongly encouraged to order their tripe tacos. I thought I didn't like tripe, but the more I have it the more I'm finding that's not the case. The tripe taco was honestly one of my favorits of the night. Fried, with an interesting texture, I could eat these all night. The Al Pastor is done very differently here, there are no pineapple chunks (thank god, I've never been a fan). Instead the meat spins and is shaved off shawarma style, and it's marinated in pineapple juice. So it permeates the meat but also creates this delightful sweet crust on the edges of the meat. This is the superior way to serve this taco, in my humble opinion. The chorizo is also a good choice. The only miss were the carnitas. Surprisingly they were very bland, like they had no seasoning, and definitely no sauce. There is a menu item whose Mexican name I forget, but it's just large green onions, grilled in oil. These are sooooo good. Don't skip these! I've never seen such big, succulent green onions. The insides are almost caramelized, rich and soft, while the dark green stalks add a nice crispiness. It's a fairly new Mexican addition to the very Mexican neighborhood. It is nice, new, clean and right underneath the entrance to the Junction Blvd station on the 7 line. If you needed a point of reference, it's across from Rincon Criollo. The staff and the clientele are mostly Mexican, the food is great and the staff is friendly. The food: Cemita de Milanesa Pollo- queso Oaxaca, chipotle, avocado, papalo and onions. I thought the flavors of this was great. The sandwich was on the pricey side but it was stuffed silly, it was a huge sandwich. I liked the chicken cutlets, they were cooked nicely with good flavor. Tulcingo, at all of its current locations, repeatedly fails its Department of Health inspections. With a score of 66 points, I fail to understand why the 9558 Roosevelt Avenue location is still open. It's a health hazard. The other two sites in Queens have scores of 44 and 33. Inspectors can shut down a restaurant if it gets more than 28 points. Grading is as follows: 0-13 = A, 14-27 = B, 28 or more gets a C. What exactly is going on in Mayor Eric Adams' New York? Why isn't Adams ensuring our health is protected? This is a travesty. A long time ago, Tulcingo's was my favorite Queens restaurant for fresh, satisfying Mexican food. Not any more. The al pastor pork in my burrito was hard and dry, and had definitely been left out too long. The burrito itself was just lukewarm. It's entirely possible it was made way before I ordered it. This is not how food is supposed to be kept. So, I checked the health grades. What a disappointment. read more

This restaurant was an amazing place to visit but currently there's a lot of changes that made the place just a over priced place because back then a order of nachos texanos was $10.00 and now it's over $20.00 just a the same order minus avocado. I decided to try out this place because their tacos are 2.75 in comparison to the truck across the street that costs 3.00. I ordered 4 carne asada tacos to go. The bag was heavy and it made me question whether if this was my right order. It was, and the tacos were jam packed with beef, guac, cilantro, and onions. The beef was marinated so perfectly and tender in comparison to the other places I've gone. I was only able to eat two because it filled me up so quickly. Can't go wrong with the food, every bite is filled with favor. This is one of my usual spots for Mexican food in the area. The only reason for my one star rating is for today's experience. I came by on two days ago and ordered "tres taquitos de carnitas, sin cebolla, sin picante" and got a delicious order of three small tacos. I came by again because they were so good, wouldn't hurt to go twice. I ordered the same thing with the same waitress that served me on Monday. Another waitress in a ponytail come with our food and brings me three regular sized tacos. I understand that there may be a confusion with "tacos" and "taquitos" and I politely tell her "sorry but I ordered taquitos not tacos" and she corrects me and says "no you ordered three tacos de carnitas" and once again and say, "sorry but not there must be a confusion because I ordered the small ones". The waitress insists that I am wrong and do not know what I ordered. At that point she started coming off as disrespectful so I had no other choice than to come at her with the same tone. She explains to me that if I ordered, and she quotes me, "tres taquitos" I would've gotten a total of 9 small tacos because an order of taquitos comes with 3 small tacos. I stare in confusion because she made no sense. Once again I repeat myself, "well I ordered three small taquitos not the full sized tacos, wether I say an order of taquitos or 3 taquitos you should understand it as the same." And she goes, "no, you need to read the menu because you didn't read it." At this point I was baffled by her customer service. I take a look and it says "Orden de tres taquitos" which means, an order of three mini taquitos. So I read it out loud to her and she goes, "you see, when you order you have to say an order of taquitos because if you say three taquitos we will understand it as if you want a total of nine taquitos or three full sized tacos." After she said that I couldn't even continue speaking to her so I ended up moving the napkins, salt shakers, and cups around to make space for my understand. I thought "holy cow maybe I'm wrong" so I start drawing three taquitos with my finger on the table and ask her of three taquitos are equivalent to and order of three taquitos. And she says "no, you have to say the order exactly the way it is on the menu for us to understand your order." I look at her and say, "If that is the way this business is ran, maybe you should clarify that with the customers and communicate your rules on ordering with us." And she says, "No, you just need to read a menu, i always have to correct customers because you don't know how to read." Since I was sitting at the table with friends who had already gotten their meals, I didn't want to keep her idiotic mouth repeat the same thing. At this point I had become too frustrated to stay polite and respectful and I ask her "how is that logically correct?" And she goes "you're not understanding and you're not being logical" then the first waitress who took my order comes by and tell her to just take it to the kitchen and tell them to make my order. As she's walking away I start to think and try putting myself in her shoes. One, she wasn't the person who took my order so how would she know what I said when I ordered? Two, if I had supposedly ordered three orders of taquitos, why did I get three full sized tacos? After she comes back with my actual order I noticed the green hot sauce all over them, I had ordered my taquitos with no onions or hot sauce. I didn't want to cause a scene so I get up with my plate and go to both waitresses and say, "I don't mean to bother you anymore but I ordered without hot sauce and these have hot sauce." The same waitress who had NOT, I repeat NOT TAKEN MY ORDER, goes "no you just said no onion and that's what we gave you, here's the paper with your order" then the original waitress who DID take my order takes a look at her notes and whispers at her coworker, "it says no spice next to her order." After the whole dilemma, I finally got my order right. It should never take over 20 minutes of arguing and a headache to order three taquitos de carnitas. We had very very unpleasant experience with this restaurant. Our server "Irene" (who refused to give us name at first) did not like that we could not speak in Spanish even though she spoke in English. Moreover, when we ordered Burrito, we were refused picante or radish with our order but a person next to our table was served Picante and Radishes on his Burrito order. Overall food was tasteless.
