As a Female Driver requiring a van for a half day hire I believed that this was competitively priced at £35 and on my doorstep. When I picked up the van I was told that the fuel gauge was two points below the full indication and that upon return it should be as I was given.
Little to my knowledge and with no apparent movement to the fuel indication I drove to the filling station and refuelled simply as a precaution and to ensure the van was returned as it should be on the morning of its return.
Not expecting and with little knowledge of such things I find myself £46.00 less and with absolutely no movement on the fuel indication, still as it was, two points below the full indication.
I explained this to Tuff Van Hire upon return of the vechicle only to be met with that there would be absolutely no refund for the fuel despite there being an obvious fault with the vechicle. When I contested this response I was told that it was my problem but as a means of "shutting me up" I was given a card offering a full discount on another hire which was signed and dated.
Having now presented this to Tuff Van HIres new owner? I am told that this will not be honoured, that the companies debts belong to another party and my annoyance and frustration is met with being reported to the Police and asked to leave. If such debts do in fact belong to another owner then why continue with the same name, publicity, reviews etc. It would be wise to ignore all such material before Sept. 2014 as this is not the case.
Why is it the consumer should suffer for defective vechicles and that any form of resolve not be honoured despite the loss. read more
