I was referred to them through the visiting the UK Facebook group, everybody's recommendation was excellent, some said a little pricey, but the customer service, peace of mind and everything that went along with it made it all that more worthwhile. We rented a car, 9 days, picked up a Milton Keynes England, dropped off at Heathrow airport. Took the train from London, Steve. Our reservation guy even provided us with emailed instructions on how to get to the pickup, drop off locations and our hotel all by train until we picked up our car a few days after arrival. We out there for the full insurance even though our Visa card covers insurance, was not that expensive and worthwhile for the peace of mind. We had no mechanical issues, brand new Kia with about 15,000 mi on it. Was allotted 250 mi a day, we drove north all through Scotland, England, Wales and back to Heathrow with no issues. Definitely recommend this company if you want. Peace of mind and if you're all about customer service, which is extremely important when you're visiting a foreign country from your own. The guy who dropped us off at the airport from Heathrow was awesome as was Steve, our original guy we booked with. We opted for the dash cam and found that it did not have one when we went to drop the car off because we wanted the SD card which you are able to buy. When picking up the guy said there was one in there, pointing to the dashboard, not being familiar with their system. System I took his word for it. We truly wanted the dash cam so we can have a view of our last few hours of driving to take home with us. Other than that, absolutely perfect rental for us.

Unfortunately we had to return the car a bit later than expected and were charged an extra full day's fee, but since this was a last minute change on our end, I understand. It cost about $72 USD per day, which I thought was a great value. Checking in and out was relatively easy through Arnold Clarke, their contractor. I didn't like that no one welcomed us when we came in, leaving us to stand awkwardly until they decided to pay us attention. Drop off was easy and they shuttled us to the airport. Forgot to take a picture of the car but we did love taking it up to the Highlands.

I picked up my rental car from the Downtown Edinburgh location on 7/23. I spoke with Giorgio at this location. He gave me multiple pieces of incorrect and confusing information. He told me that my car was not prepaid (it was booked via Chase Travel and I received a confirmation of this booking directly from Hertz and was pre-paid). I told him that I did not want any additional insurance from Hertz. He indicated that the £208 amount was for the car rental. When I returned the car on 7/25, I discovered that the £208 amount was for the insurance, which I did NOT want. Hertz refused to refund the charge even though it was their employees mistake and misrepresentation of the charge that confused me. Horrible company. Horrible service. They have lost me as a customer forever

If I could give HERTZ in Edinburgh (near the airport) zero stars, I would. We had reserved a…read moreautomatic, mid-size car, well in advance of our trip. When we arrived, the options given were manual transmission, petrol driven or automatic, electric. While that sounds like a no-brainer, it is NOT. Since it was going to be difficult driving on the left, shifting with our left hand would make driving hazardous to everyone on the road. Reluctantly, we took the automatic, electric vehicle. The HERTZ rep showed us a map of all the EV charging stations in the UK. That map is WRONG. Over half the EV charging stations were broken. Calling the HELP number verified that the particular station we were at was scheduled to be fixed - like 2 months ago. Another 25% would not take credit cards - you needed an RFID card that cannot be picked up anywhere in the UK, it has to be mailed. So, we ended up sitting at an EV station while the car charged - easily for an hour at a time - after we'd spent more than an hour driving from station to station only to find them either broken or not accepting credit cards. This situation was worse in the Highlands and on Islay/Skye. When we found an EV station that worked, it was usually in an isolated place. No restaurants, no shops, not even a nice hiking trail. So we had to sit in the car while it charged. This took a chunk of time out of our 2 week vacation and added frustration and stress to a time we should be relaxing. HERTZ and other rental car companies in the UK need to give renters an RFID card so they can use more of the EV charging stations. We'd have been happy to pay HERTZ at the end of the trip for any EV charges if they'd had given us an RFID card. Bottom line: if renting an automatic transmission car in the UK, be prepared to sit at EV charging stations almost every day because finding one that works is like finding a piece of glass on a sandy beach. Also, having a navigator help the driver with the roundabouts - which are everywhere - is critical. The driver will be having enough trouble staying on the left but merging into and out of the roundabouts can be complex, especially if the roundabout is 3 lane deep. Good Luck!

The car was very muddy at the bottom of the car but when I saw extensive scratches to the car not shown on the paperwork I contacted the Avis representative. They assured me that I would not be charged for this damage but marked my copy of the paperwork to note the damage. Renter beware - this is the only place they take note of the damage. So when I returned without the paperwork I was charged over 500 gbp. Surprisingly though, when I returned the car, they photographed the damage and emailed them to me with estimates of damage invoiced. Subsequently given this thorough return process I question how this damage managed to go previously undocumented in their system. I felt scammed. Fortunately I was able to recover the paperwork from my family and after a month the charge was reversed and Avis apologized for their mistake. In future I would take more time to inspect any rental car taking photographs, and insist on having any marks recorded. Sadly I will be hesitant to use Avis again in the near future.

When I returned the car, I explained this to the staff and refused to sign the damage report, as the same damage had already been noted. The agent assured me that no charge would be applied until the matter was resolved. However, Avis still charged my card without authorisation. I emailed customer service on 16 September, received only an automated acknowledgment, and have since had no response despite multiple follow-ups. This is unacceptable service and poor handling of a clear dispute. I've now had to seek a chargeback through my card provider. I strongly advise other customers to take detailed photos of their vehicle at collection and return, and to be cautious about pre-existing damage claims at this branch.
