I came into my home after Tanisha worked her magic and was like WHA????? It was gorgeous and blew my expectations out of the water! Tanisha is very communicative (phone, email and text), very professional, great cleanup, and very affordable. Honestly, after I saw the work completely, I thought to myself "WE GOT AN AMAZING DEAL!" AND on top of that, they are local, female owned (which I love) and Tanisha can really help with ideas on what colors will look best for the room you are looking to paint. I was planning on going with a dark color for my hallway and Tanisha recommended I stay with a lighter color based on the size and ceiling height. I went with Tuff Chicks Painting because of the overwhelmingly positive reviews, and I have to say that after getting my room painted, the reviews are overwhelmingly positive for a reason. First off, the room looks amazing. Totally spot on, better than I could have ever dreamed. It made me realize that I don't ever want to waste my time personally trying to paint a room when I can hire the pros at Tuff Chicks, who can do it in a fraction of the time and do such a damn fine job at it. And timing-wise, they were super quick: they had a pretty big room to paint with lots of trim detail, but they were still in and out and left my place looking spotless after I'd say only 5-6 hours. I don't know market pricing but I feel that it was fair and affordable, and worth every penny. And not only were they professional and timely, Tanisha and her team were super friendly, funny, down-to-earth, and easy to talk to. I didn't mind hanging out while they were painting to shoot the shit a little bit and they seemed to enjoy the extra company. From the very beginning when Tanisha came out to give a quote, she was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and confident about her suggestions and advice. Ultimately I went with her advice and I am glad I did. The only issue I had was I believe Tanisha got confused about the size of my room and may have purchased too much paint, thinking it was a larger area I had wanted painted than what was discussed. However, I think they still deserve all five stars and this did not bother me much, since I understand they seem to be a growing and very busy business, so these things happen. All in all I'm really thrilled and I almost want to have them back to paint more rooms even if the rooms don't need a paint job, just for the hell of it. When we were ready to have our bedroom painted, I came to yelp to look up reviews. Tuff Chicks hit all my criteria: local, professional, experienced, and the bonus: women- and minority-owned. Owner Tanisha Thompson came to our apartment to meet with us. As other reviewers have noted, she was on time, professional, and her quote was half the cost of our other quote. She suggested paint brands based on what we were looking to do, and also let us know that she was willing to work around the large pieces of furniture that would have been really difficult to move. When she came to do the work, once again Tanisha and her team were on time. They were friendly, professional, and went immediately to work. While we were in the front of the apartment, they worked quietly in the back, coming out between priming and painting to let the coats dry. And when they were done, the cleanup was immaculate. Tanisha and her crew are awesome! We contacted her over email to set up an appointment, and within the week we had our initial proposal (which was very reasonable). When we were ready to proceed a few months later, she came back over for another walkthrough and to review our paint selections (she was very helpful with suggestions when we were unsure). The following week, we had our entire duplex interior done while out of town, which included skim coating a few of the rooms as well as some carpentry work that exceeded your normal pre-paint patching. Tanisha was very accommodating from the start. I had scheduled an original date for her to paint my entryway, living/dining room and hallway a few months ago but had to push the date back. She did so without a problem. When she arrived at my home with her supplies, she stated more paint was required because I had underestimated the size of the space; my measurements were a bit off. These women did an incredible job on my very wonky apartment, with all the oddly textured walls, strange over-plastered moldings and mysteriously faded out trims. I can't say enough good things about Tuff Chicks. They are just finishing up a complicated stencil job in my bedroom as well as a labor-intense job painting my white stairs a classy black. Both projects look amazing. I typically do paint projects myself. Now that I have found Tuff Chicks, I never will touch a paint brush again. Their work truly stands out as professional and they can do complex projects that would take me a week to plan and then a week to execute (which I would do with much less polish) in just a few days. After reading all of the glowing reviews, I desperately wanted to use Tuff Chicks to paint my home. I first contacted them in March to begin discussing an estimate, to which I was told an on-site estimate would be best (makes sense, it's a bit of an oddly shaped space). I tell them my schedule can be really flexible with at least 2 days notice so that I can arrange to work from home. Almost a month goes by without hearing anything so I email again to follow up, to which I'm told (twice!) "how about today at 5:30?". On such short notice I told them I couldn't get home in time, but if they could give me ANY OTHER DAY with at least SOME notice it would work. More time goes by without hearing anything followed by a few more weeks of emails back and forth, and I finally get a date! June 16th at 5:30pm. I leave work early to make sure I'm home with time to spare and they no-called, no-showed. It's now 8pm. I will most definitely be finding another company to bring my business to. read more

But after having Tuff Chicks repaint most of our three-story brownstone, we have joined the chorus of extremely delighted customers. Tanisha and her team (including Chase and Julia) are first class professionals. We broke down our big job over three segments, several weeks apart, so that one floor was done at a time. They started on our top floor which included some severe ceiling and wall damage from a leaky roof that was recently replaced. They did a terrific job with the skim coating and the end result was truly impressive. They subsequently gave us some guidance as we picked colors for the other floors and helped us to come up with a palette that looks really great throughout. We ended up going with Tuff Chicks after receiving bids from 4 other painting companies. They were the most competitive by several hundred dollars and were excellent in communicating their services. They stuck to the quote they originally provided. They were able to match the exact color on our existing accent walls after I spent hours trying to nail the color .
