I won't make this personal, just a personal experience. I scheduled an appointment over a month in advance. On service day, the shop stated that the original plan of work (3 days) would now be a week. I stated I had to have my vehicle back for work. The response was ok ,4 days, (for a differential change) this is literally a days work. Then the shop told me that I didn't need to re program my vehicle to the new gears (not accurate, this would have totally f'd up my vehicle), and they didn't even have my parts in. So I decided not to leave my vehicle with this place. Everything happens for a reason, and this placed highlighted how awesome their competitor is. Hopefully they clean things up and do better, but if you are like me, you'll take your vehicle over to Loyd's Transmission, you won't regret it. read more

Emailed them asking for an estimate to upgrade the gears in my old Ford 4x4. Got a response a day later. Called and scheduled to take my truck in. It took a few weeks to get the front ring and pinion due to supply issues, but the truck works way better, no more noise from the rear end. Staff were polite and helpful, answering all my questions. I have always had a policy of "nobody works on my vehicles but me", but when the rear axle started howling on my truck, I knew I did not have the specialty tools needed to do the job. I made several calls around town looking for a shop that #1. I felt like they knew what they are doing #2. Could do the work at a reasonable price #3. And do it in a reasonable time frame. After talking to many of the shops in town I was pretty frustrated and dismayed. But after talking to Bill at Tucson Differential, I decided to give them the job. I can't say enough good things about Tucson Differential. My husband and I were on our way to Tucson from Idaho to get out of the cold for a week. We were pulling an enclosed trailer with our motorcycle. The differential on our 2017 Ford F150 started making noise just outside of Phoenix and was bad by time we got to Tucson. None of the dealerships could get us in for weeks but Bill worked with us and was able to get us into his very busy schedule. Our trip was extended for a week while we waited our turn, but Bill put up with our frequent calls and took care of the repairs with a smile and got us on the road back home. I selected this business based on word of mouth...from a friend that told me the owners communication sucked but his work was good. Well his communication did in fact suck and the job he told me would take 4 or 5 days took 3 weeks. After the first week I had not heard from him so I called. Got an answering machine that was a recording of his voice stating that he had contracted covid and would not be back for a week. Week goes by and I still hear nothing, so I call again. He answers and says he's sorry and he'll have it done by Friday. Friday comes and goes. I drive by Monday and I see my truck has not moved. I am immediately upset. I call again and am told he will have it done the next day, but only after I tell him I just want my truck back. He did complete the work but only after I practically beg him to finish it. I have my doubts about the workmanship and I will not suggest this place to anyone. The guy could have at least called me and told me what was going on but he didn't even give me the courtesy....I call this "The death of costumer service". read more

These guys are experts in what they do. They installed ARB air lockers and breathers on my 4runner (front and rear). I'll put more trust in having a shop dedicated to differentials doing this kind of work vs. a local mechanic or any of the 4-wheel shops in town. Their pricing was fair, and they were really consultative as I made plans for the modification. I would definitely recommend Tucson Differential to any other folks looking to improve their 4-wheeling rigs with new differentials, lockers, or re-gearing. There are some negative comments on Yelp related to punctuality and customer service, but I didn't have any of these issues. If you need emergency work done ASAP, lean on a high volume shop with 10 bays and 30 mechanics. If you want high quality work done, by niche mechanics that exclusively work on differentials, take your vehicle here, give them the time they need to do the job correctly, and you won't be disappointed. Needed an axel rebuilt got a quote of $1500-1750 for a job that takes 400$ max in parts and should only take someone who knows what there doing 2-3 hours for a complete rebuild. That begin said this place is a complete rip off they say fools and there money are soon parted don't be a fool look else where. Had a VERY unprofessional experience with Tucson Differential--made me drive across town for 30 min for scheduled appointment, and then never got to my car... TWICE! Was told by the manager that he was on the phone too much with customers, and that's why he never got to my vehicle. I never received a call warning me that he wasn't going to get to my car either time. I need my car to work, and couldn't leave it overnight, without making my wife drive 2 hours to get me to work. I wish I could review their actual service but seeing as I have been trying everyday for the past couple weeks to get ahold of them with no luck, I guess I can't. Everytime I call it rings until a recording comes on to tell me that their mailbox is full. I've only been able to leave a message once, and they still haven't called me back. I travel to and through Tucson several times most years. Earlier this year my rear end was losing oil and beginning to howl. I drove around asking other shops for their recommendation. Most sent me to Tucson Differential. Tucson Differential couldn't get to me right away. I had to wait a few days. On the day of my appt I arrived early and waited. Bill was constantly answering customer calls while he worked on the vehicle he had already started the day before. He, then, got on mine thereafter; like he said he would. A couple of hours later I was on my way at a surprisingly affordable price and with a good sounding warranty. And, he was already pulling in his next customer's vehicle. Five months later I was in Tampa, losing fluid from the same axle. Took it to the best shop I could cypher out using phone calls. I contacted Bill because the part had worn bad already. He stuck by his work and apologized for the part going bad because it shouldn't have. The shop I was at in Tampa was having problems finding that particular axle. Bill had his distributor in California overnight them one of the best made, well known, brands in axles. I asked what I owed him for the axle. He wouldn't hear of my paying another nickel and continued to apologize for the part which should not have gone bad. It's no wonder Tucson Differential is so busy and hard to get in to. They are not only among the best at what they do; but they stand behind their workmanship with integrity. This type of shop is a rare find. I wholeheartedly recommend them.
