So glad we found this place. Very tasty food and friendly service. The sampler appetizer is worth the trip.

Delicious, well-priced Turkish menu and dishes and such professional friendly staff. I ordered the menemen and iced mocha and both were just perfect. Not too salty, not too oily. The iced mocha was bitter and sweet at once. They have definitely got it figured out here. Definitely returning during our next drive through VT. read more

Service, food and overall experience is terrific! So grateful to have this team locally!! What a great spot!

Love this place! Food is great, owners are great. Always great service and the bar isn't too shabby either:)

The Connecticut River-Upper Valley seems to be increasingly becoming one of the more cosmopolitan, savory eating regions in recent years. There are few places that exemplify this transition so tangibly as Tuckerbox in White River Junction, Vermont! Four years ago when I last visited this venue, it proved to be more or less a "hipster" café with some fun artwork. Earlier tonight when visiting back with my aunt and uncle, it still functions as a café in the morning, but now also offers lunch and dinner offerings, including a WIDE array of Turkish kebab, gucek, babaghanoush, ezme, meze, and related dishes(!) These are serious dishes, in presentation and taste alike including the intricacies of the four meze topping options with stuffed grape leaves. Furthermore, their lamb gucek served simmering hot on a bed of seasoned rice pairs ridiculously smooth with a glass of their Angora (House) red wine and enhanced further by their house-made baklavas (including the phyllo dough and apple-maple syrup!) for dessert. You will most likely not be disappointed by this venue, a refreshing shot of the cosmopolitan in the Upper Valley! read more

It's my pleasure to write this review, the server and owner were extremely courteous and helpful when recommending dishes and making sure everything was okay. My friend was limping from a sprained ankle and they gave us a fresh ice pack for him to use! The food, also, was quite good. I stopped here on a long drive from Montreal to Boston, and it was the only restaurant in town it seemed that served non-American fare. Check it out! read more

My first experience wasn't the greatest but I'm all for the Upper Valley getting some more color, culture, and flair sooo... 4 stars! Didn't realize how popping this new hot spot would be at 8PM on a Friday night so came with 2 friends and without a reservation for dinner. We probably only waited 15 minutes to be seated, not bad. I was happy to see a couple vegetarian entrees to choose from. Unfortunately rice was a staple in the dishes we ordered and our server neglected to inform us that they had run out for the day. The dishes came with a little side salad instead and when I asked about the rice to another server, he apologized that we weren't forewarned. I had ordered what essentially was a veggie stew and felt like I needed something to pick it up. The server offered to bring us a complimentary freshly baked lavash bread, and thank goodness he did! That stuff is delicious. The flavors are good, the portions could be bigger. I did feel dishes were a little overpriced but that's nothing new in the UV. The service was also pretty slow, maybe the servers are new? Regardless of the few hiccups, I'll be back to give the new Tuckerbox another shot. read more

I have no idea how the food is. I tried to order to pick up and was placed on hold for over 10 minutes after being told I would have to wait for 45 minutes. I hung up and called again. It is now 45 minutes after my initial attempt and my call goes straight to voicemail. I can't leave a message as the voicemail is full. Good luck. read more

Great food in the small cute town of white river. I stumbled upon this restaurant about a year ago and whenever I am in the area I make sure I get my fix. The dinner kabobs are great all of them from surf and turf to the chicken. The meze plate is also a must! read more

The food and spices used here are wonderful. It is a gem in Vermont. I felt like I was transported to the Middle East.

Too expensive. Ordered babaghanooj, it was served without a pita bread. Had to pay an extra $3 for the pita. Babaghanooj serving was very small, yet, I was charged $8 for it. read more

Happiest accident on our New England trip. We pulled into Vermont from Maine at 9:30. When we travel we deliberately avoid chains in favour of locally owned flavor (which Yelp had made much easier to find) Being from Las Vegas we aren't accustomed to the words "we're closed," but that's exactly what we got from a nearby place. We stopped at The Tuckerbox and given the name we were expecting a heap of American comfort food. Instead, we found something we can't get even in the culinary Mecca of Las Vegas-authentic Turkish Food. We were greeted by an exceptionally friendly staff and owner. We ordered several items to share to sample the menu. Everything was delicious, right down to the authentic Turkish Coffee and rice pudding. read more

The food is fantastic though, and I will say it was worth it. However, because the portions are very small, and the price proportionately high I can't patronize this exquisite eatery as often as I'd like. ---- Incidentally, I read Raven L. review, and though I actually believe her, I can say that in my case the allergy caveats were honored. I'm highly allergic to mushrooms, and can attest not a spore was detected in my meal. My hubby is gluten free since childhood and the bread was dutifully packed separately. ___ Not sure where the disconnect was with Raven L. s order, but I hear you kid sister... allergy limitations must be honored, and double/ treble checked before sending the food out the kitchen door. read more

Did not get to eat DINNER here, yet, BUT Impressed by response to our disappointment at their not getting or responding to our Yelp message requesting reservation. We arrived and learned they did not look at yelp messages, only reviews despite the messaging capability in yelp. Restaurant very busy, and while polite, sort of fumbled the situation. But later responded via yel/email and now will check. Have been to Tuckerbox happily many times before generally for coffee or lunch but before current dinner offerings, which several friends have praised. So we are still looking forward to it. Positive remarks for turning around a negative situation. read more

While passing through Vermont I came across the Tuckerbox on Yelp. All of the reviews were spot on! This is a very hip coffee bar and sandwich shop. At the moment there are 16 people in here for lunch, and all of them are using some kind of Apple device. I had a delicious Americano with a grilled cheese sandwich. I asked if they would add a slice of ham to the sandwich to make it a croque monsieur, and they did. The sandwich bread was homemade and fresh -thick and fluffy. Definitely a good choice! read more

Tuckerbox has always been a staple of downtown White River. It serves the local businesses with delicious gourmet coffees, teas and lattes. They are now serving amazing Turkish cuisine for dinner meals. We had a feast of a cold appetizer, hot appetizer and a kabob meal. We thoroughly enjoyed every bite of our meal! We chose a Turkish Syra for wine, it was amazingly smooth and delicious. The desserts were equally as enjoyable. Beyond the delicious food was the warm, comfortable atmosphere and the outstanding server (May). She was friendly, helpful and genuinely kind. We would highly recommend the new and improved Tuckerbox. Visit anytime of day, you're sure to enjoy your experience and tasty treats! read more

I thought it was a coffee shop from the window, but it turned out to be Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine! My boyfriend and I connected and are having a great, unique meal! The people are 10/10 friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend that you come here for a nice, unique meal! read more

What an awesome surprise to find in white river! Great food. solid, down to earth service and a welcoming atmosphere. Clearly they had been there a long time and had the science of their craft down. But it wasn't so automated that it lost the human element or the Vermont "just people" charm. read more

Excellent sandwiches & coffee. An artsy kind of vibe. We went in around 3 pm and they were already out of food - none of the kabobs were available. We had the lavash bread, phyllo cheese rolls, falafel zucchini fritters and the lentil soup. All delicious! Only wish I had the opportunity to try more stuff. read more

The Turkish food spun out of the small but adequate kitchen was sublime. We really loved the zuccini pancakes and the lavash. My man loved his Turkish coffee. This place was jam packed with single diners sipping coffee, working on their laptops. The hipster staff were really great. What a find! read more

Been here a number of times before covid and still. Have brought guesses each time. Our last time was disappointing. Servings smaller and kebabs over cooked. Hope it's just temporary. read more

Tbox is really the best coffeeshop in the Upper Valley. Having just moved from San Francisco to New Hampshire, I was going through serious withdrawal from all the gourmet coffees I used to have at my fingertips -- but luckily, my office is across the tracks from this little gem. Sometimes I go in and pretend I live in a city again, with the rustic decor, exposed brick, and artsy people who often frequent this place. BTW, Reed makes the BEST lattes. read more

I love this coffee shop. Very cute place with good food and coffee. Kind of reminds me of Friends - a great place to go and catch up with a friend over coffee (as compared to Dirt Cowboy which can get a bit cramped). As my friends say, WRJ is the Brooklyn of the UV, so the place has a nice artsy feel which I love! :-) Also, not sure what other reviewers were talking about re: rude staff. Everyone I interacted with was friendly. (Maybe this 'crabby patty' quit?) read more

Make a reservation for dinner! Excellent service, delicious food. I will certainly be returning and recommending that everyone I know makes time for dinner here. Great cafe during the day as well. If you want to try something new, get the kunefe for dessert. I say this because most people are familiar with baklava and order that instead.. They are very busy so call a few hours ahead to make a reservation read more

I went here with my family as we we visiting my daughter. I am not familiar with the area but as usual, Yelp comes through with great recommendations. The manager was very helpfully and even though they had reservations, he went out of his way to accommodate us. We were served immediately and we ordered an appetizer plate with hummus, Mediterranean salsa, baba ganoush and Mediterranean yogurt. We also ordered falafels with Lavash bread. Everything was excellent. We order various kebabs which are their main entrees. I had lamb, my wife had beef, my kids had chicken and my mother-in-law had a mix of lamb and beef. It was impressively seasoned and cooked to perfection, some of the best Middle Eastern food I have had. I am very particular about good food and this place getting a five star is high marks. I highly recommend the lamb and beef dishes, the salads with the meals help make the entrée perfect. My only suggestion would be the restaurant offer more lavash bread and/or the Mediterranean yogurt with the meal. I will definitely come back to this establishment when I am in town and I HIGHLY recommend the business. read more

Delicious food. The marinaded stake basically melts in your mouth. I don't recommend going for a romantic dinner because it's not a quiet atmosphere. The place is usually packed with people and it's very loud, good crowd though. Service is great too. read more

Mixed review based mainly on service: Last night, I had great kabobs. The service was attentive and quick without anyone hovering. I had a discount voucher from my hotel, so I tried them again for breakfast this morning. The menu looked good but I never had a chance to try anything. After being seated at the bar, I received a cup of coffee and a menu. I was then ignored for 15 minutes. I used voucher to cover the coffee and left. Great Turkish coffee and food, nice ambiance and friendly staff.

An everyday stop for coffee, but also a wonderful place for lunch or dinner if you have a little time.
