Baddest steak and cheese sandwich ever! Definitely give it a try. Don't forget the mozzarella sticks they fire!

When I come here it is usually for the steak and cheese sub with Tubby's sauce, always a winner in my book.

Walking in, there was very limited seating and about an hour wait, which clearly showed how popular this spot is. Thankfully, the hostess told us about their basement bar area where you can grab drinks and snacks while waiting. The downstairs area had such a cool speakeasy vibe dark ambiance, vinyl music playing, and honestly the perfect date night atmosphere. The drinks were REALLY good, and you can also order appetizers down there. Once we made it upstairs, we grabbed bar seating and talked to a few people around us who all said this was their favorite spot. Our bartender was amazing -- super attentive, explained the menu well, and gave great recommendations. We ordered the wings (perfectly seasoned and so good) and the chicken sandwich with buffalo added for a little spice... absolutely delicious. I also tried the pistachio martini, and wow definitely one of my favorite drinks I've had in a while. Overall, such a great experience from the atmosphere to the food and service. I'll definitely be back, and I've already been telling all my friends about this place!

Then someone politely said y'all must be looking for downstairs. Sure were! As it turned out, we were escorted downstairs to what people refer to as the Vinyl Room. Left in the capable hands of Edith H, our server, we thoroughly enjoyed the beverages, food and overall experience. My cappuccino was perfectly executed - frothy and hot. The large portion of Smoked Salmon Scramble was delicious - fluffy eggs, large chunks of salmon and melted creamed cheese goodness with buttered English Muffin. My companion declared the Lump Cake Crab Benedict the BEST EVER. NOTE: a 20% Gratuity is automatically added to the bill. Edith was kind enough to encircle the charge when she handed us the check. Just one more wonderful thing about her and the excellent service we received. Parking is complimentary with plenty of spaces just behind the building. Total bill was reasonable, considering the quality of the service and tip worked into the check at just under $70.

I will definitely return.

How the mighty have fallen. What a shame. I can no longer say Red Coat has one of the best burgers…read morein the area. I can't even say they have a good burger. Wow. Ordered takeout for dinner. Waited a few minutes, but was ready around the time I requested. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger (with Piedmontese beef) and had fries and onion rings. I'll start with the good. The fries were very good. Crispy and salted, they definitely hit the spot. The onion rings were the best I've had. Hearty batter with a perfect crunch. Absolutely delightful and I could have eaten a million of them. Onto the burger. First of all, there was no bacon. If you're charging over $3 for bacon, gotta make sure it makes it on the burger. I also ordered the bun toasted; it was not. Good start. The patty had zero flavor. No seasoning could be detected. The only redeeming part was the burnt onion which I added. They really were burnt but had nice flavor. I'd give the burger a D rating. For $25, it really was a giant disappointment and eff you. Can't say I'm wanting to return. Such a shame. What used to be one of my favorites is now a lowlight. 2 stars because of the sides.

My meal...magically battered onion rings and mushrooms followed by one of the finest burgers I've ever swallowed. 8 oz of flavorful medium rare juicy bliss on a fantastic bun topped with lettuce tomato pickle and cole slaw joy. Truly heaven and I remembered to eat it slowly. Thank you Redcoat for transporting me back to a simpler time when everyone agreed.

I am happy to post this review since August is National Black Business Month, a time to celebrate…read moreand support Black-owned businesses and entrepreneurs in the United States. Good food is found at Jay Birds Bar & Grille located in Lathrup Village! So much so I dined here twice in one month with two different parties. Ironically, Brianna was our server both times. It's time to give her a raise for her hard work in serving. I had the catfish fillets, green beans and garlic mashed potatoes on my first visit and fried chicken wings and fries on the second visit. The food was well prepared with portions for sharing or a second meal at home. Note: Due to their limited seating, there is a 90-minute seating limit during busy times. Seating includes bar seating, pub tables and booth. Seating is not ideal for parties larger than 4. On my second visit, we had a party of 7 that we settled for two booths.

Until someone at the table next to us lit a joint, we truly enjoyed the outdoor space. My brother, however, warned me that the food was just meh and I find I will have to agree with him. The protein/meats were good. My problem was with the sides. I got the rice pilaf and green beans and I feel like it was false advertisement. The rice pilaf was just yellow rice. The green beans were canned, although the menu pic showed fresh. Both of them lacked flare or seasoning. I noticed the person we ate with ate all of his catfish but barely touched his sides (potatoes au gratin and corn) as well. Now my husband got the mashed potatoes and brussels. He raved about them. I grabbed a little of both to take home so hoping when I eat them for lunch tomorrow I'm as impressed with those as he was. Maybe they are the show stoppers?!? So the final factor is always whether or not it would return and I will say yes, there were several cocktails on the menu I really want to try. And it is conveniently located. I will try what our server recommended, the wings, and just keep it there.

Little difficulty with folks who aren't as tech savvy as there are not servers or menus but if you don't want a typical restaurant experience where you have to wait for everyone to arrive (you know you have those friends that are always late for everything!) to order this is your jam. Food has always been good and their drink selection is as diverse as you're going to find in the craft beer scene today. A hostess who takes your money and gives you a bracelet, automated beer, and you use your phone to order from the kitchen, they text you and you go get your food. I wondered many times how they could serve alcohol and not monitor how much people were drinking? So I asked. The host is in the front said at the end of 32 oz is your bracelet will not work and you need to come up and see me to reset it. I guess that's how they would monitor whether or not someone could get another 32 oz? I'm surprised not more places have copied their business layout. With the new generation, this would be the place to go, you barely have to speak to anyone except for the people you're with.
