Decided to spend some time today with my kids at this park. The playground is awesome and the sandbox is very creative. There's fields, a skate park, covered areas for picnicking, and to top it all off a River runs through it. When I got here I drove straight in and found parking right next to the play area. The play area itself is large and starts on one side with swings and a picnic area that goes along the river to a large sandbox with a water feature that works in the summertime. It's a really creative water feature. Basically water comes out of the top of a river structure made out of rocks cascades down some fake waterfalls and then streams into the sandbox. There's a iron seal sitting next to it. I think it supposed to emulate the Tuallitan river which runs by about 30 yards away. Other part of the playground are made to look like a RailRoad. There's a railroad Trussell that is part of the history of this town. They make the sidewalk into a fake train track with cute little imaginative play train cars and a ticket booth. They even have little signs that say railroad crossing on the sidewalk. Cute. The playground has a large handicap swing equipped to handle adults. It has a circular View area overlooking the river that I imagine it would be nice to read a book in. There are several large structures with lots of picnic tables in them. There are bathrooms. There is even a outdoor grill area to cook some hotdogs or hamburgers on. Next to the playground is a large ball park. On the other side of the ball park is a basketball court, next to that is a very elaborate skate park but it looks like BMX riders enjoy. There's also tennis courts and a handball wall. I know there's a community center in here and that they do things for seniors like meals on wheels. There was a sign near the entrance today that said 'seniors being served today'. Though this park is very modern there are lots of mature shade trees. Beautiful evergreens that are true to the nature of the area. There are signs scattered about for the Tualatin river walk. Apparently you can walk over the river to Cook's park or you could walk under the railroad Tressel to the other side of this park where there is a dog park. I like that they keep the dog park separated from the children's area. Very practical. This park has a lot of great elements. I like the history that scattered about and the way that they incorporated it into the children's play area. If you live in the area you should definitely come and take a stroll.

Basketball court with skate park in background

Convenient park with just about everything. There's a basketball court (see photo) that has a set of regular size hoops and then some lowered ones for white dudes who can't jump and want to pretend they can. I was there after work and it was dominated by a bunch of highschool hipster flunkies with tight jeans and beanies on in the 80 degree weather. There's a nice play area for kids if you have those. (see photo) Baseball field. There's a trail along the river in the woods (see photo), but has a pretty strong rapey vibe. There's a skatepark here too. Half of them can be found in the woods smokin' trees and playing whack music in the forest area. I recommend talking a walk on the paved path next to the dog park (see photo) that leads to a nice footbridge over the river. This also leads to Cook's park for another .5 mile stroll past a preserved prairie with birds chirping and flowers around. Basically, this park covers all the age groups. For ninos there's an expansive playground, for tweens there's hoops and skating, for soccer moms there a field and dog park, and for everyone there's nice bike/walk paths.

Great place to hike itch your dog. Dog park itself is big and well kept. Bike riding, walking or whatever on the many trails. Takes you right to the river also

There's ample space in Apple parking and if you want to take a break from the playground and there's plenty of trails that walk around the river you can make some loops and more. There's also plenty of covered areas for birthday parties barbecues, or just get together which you can reserve at the beginning of the year they fill up fast.

Many can walk around, bring their own boats/kayaks/SUP to launch off the ramp, fish on the river, or have a picnic. It's beautiful here, but it's also very popular over the summer months when folks want to use this place to launch off the ramp. Parking is hard to find. At this spot, you can rent through the Tualatin Riverkeepers. They provided life vests and the kayak of our choice. It was great paddling out on the water with my kid. We stayed pretty close by, so the water was really calm and beginner friendly. We didn't venture past the freeway underpass, we went to the right side from the boat launch. Some parts are so shallow you hit some rocks. This park also offers soccer fields and an updated inclusive family playground. Highly recommend coming here.

There's plenty of parking, a patio area with picnic tables, and a small pavilion to stand outside while staying out of the weather. The park consists of a small wooded hill the parking lot is on, and a wide open field that ranges from a fence bordering River Grove Elementary, and reaching south down towards the Tualatin River. It's a peaceful quiet spot to feel in touch with nature on a nice day. Why is it only rated three stars then? Honestly, there's not a lot here. Aside from the open field, a couple of benches, and a motivational peace pole, that's it. There's no local playground or many other features that make Pilkington Park stand out from its other competitors across the city. The park doesn't even have proper bathrooms, and it feels as though the city reserved the space and started building a park, only to give up halfway with a minimalist response. While not the greatest park, it certainly is a good park, and is well worth the time to visit.

The grass was mowed and there isn't anything to hide your dog from sight, but the downside for us was that meant there wasn't anywhere for our pup to hide when she was ganged up on by bigger dogs. If your dog is comfortable with that, this is a great open area for them :)

The play area has a large and small, rentable, covered picnic structure. In the lower area, there are sports fields, a structure with advanced features for teens. Tennis and wall ball, basket ball and a walking trail to the river. There are nice, clean restrooms here. The details are great here, even the picnic tables have built in chess boards. The water feature is super cool, it runs through the middle of the sand box and out of a watering trough complete with concrete pig statue. I like this park a lot. It's a non crowded hidden gem, probably because it was built in 2000, so it's still new and modern in park terms. Come check it out...

The beach area is covered with lots of trees from large trees, there is plenty of room to picnic (grills available), a snack bar, restrooms, playground and lake access. This beach is closed to everyone except those that live within the boundaries of a Lake Grove School District. Fortunately I have friends who live on the canal and I'm invited out often for boat rides and to anchor and swim in the swimming hole by this beach. Water is surprisingly warmer than I ever predict, but still a cool and refreshing 77 which feels awesome on a hot summer day. This summer, 2020, we enjoyed many pop-up concerts where the band performed on a barge. Missing all the concert and movies in the park, this was a welcomed way to enjoy summer while being socially distanced. My favorite day is July 4th when the town of Lake O lights fireworks over the lake. This is open to anyone, but obviously it's super crowded so if you plan on watching from the beach, get there super early! We watch from the boat, anchoring and tying up with other boats, and then enjoy the magnificent display of fireworks and their reflection on the water while sipping wine, enjoying snacks and great conversation. It's one of my favorite nights of the year! Sadly, the fireworks were cancelled in 2020, along with most everything, but I still spent several heavenly days and evenings on the lake.
