Koch Park is awesome and one of the best parks around the playground is all nice and nearly updated and there's so many different stations for the kids to play depending on age. There's ample space in Apple parking and if you want to take a break from the playground and there's plenty of trails that walk around the river you can make some loops and more. There's also plenty of covered areas for birthday parties barbecues, or just get together which you can reserve at the beginning of the year they fill up fast. read more

River kayak & SUP rental | great picnic spot Cook park is a family friendly park. It's huge too. Many can walk around, bring their own boats/kayaks/SUP to launch off the ramp, fish on the river, or have a picnic. It's beautiful here, but it's also very popular over the summer months when folks want to use this place to launch off the ramp. Parking is hard to find. At this spot, you can rent through the Tualatin Riverkeepers. They provided life vests and the kayak of our choice. It was great paddling out on the water with my kid. We stayed pretty close by, so the water was really calm and beginner friendly. We didn't venture past the freeway underpass, we went to the right side from the boat launch. Some parts are so shallow you hit some rocks. This park also offers soccer fields and an updated inclusive family playground. Highly recommend coming here. read more

Cool Park is huge! It's 79 acres of trails, river access, sports fields, picnic areas, playgrounds, gardens, and more. I recently visited with friends who have new stand up paddle boards. It's nice that the park is so nearby to the city of Portland and has plenty of parking to make it easy to unload SUPs, kayaks, and inner tubes. If you don't have your own you can rent some but it's a little pricey in my opinion (~$35-45 for two hours). The water is flat, easy to paddle on, plenty of space to go up and down the river, and has shady areas you can rest in. What would have earned it five stars? Less kids, clearer water, real bathrooms not just a portapotty. Dogs must be on leash, but not everyone follows this rule. Overall a good option for lots of activities, the main highlight is being able to get on a river just about a 20 minute drive from home. read more

Specifically for paddle boarding, this park is a great spot to put in. You can go upstream and downstream from the main launch for a couple miles in each direction. The water is slow moving and glassy in parts. That also means the water can be a little smelly and stagnant in certain areas - definitely not something I would want to swim in. But it's a great time on a board with only one shallow area that requires some nimble navigation to get through (this is near the railroad and walking bridges to the east). Overall, a very fun and convenient spot to paddle! read more

BOAT LAUNCH ONLY REVIEW: This is a really nice boat launch and park. We specially we use it for the boat launch to Kayak the Tualatin River. The river is great slow flat water to paddle along and enjoy the wildlife and nice scenery. I could spend hours out here. Lots of tall trees to help keep the river cool, summer time the sun will hit from up high in the afternoon. If you don't have your own kayak or Canoe the Tualatin River Keepers have a rental shop here $35 to $45 I believe are the prices. It can get busy down at the boat launch with park events so parking can be limited so plan to go early on weekends to ensure you can park near the launch. Very clean park and we'll maintained, restrooms always a plus when clean and stocked . read more

Playground review: It's ok, but could use some work. It's becoming a bit aged, the swing were missing, and the sliding contraption also was gone. But my 5 year old enjoyed it nonetheless and we spent at least 20 minutes there. read more

Wonderful park! The toys are the best, even adults can play! There is a creek, canoe rental, soccer fields, basketball courts, pond with ducks, several bathrooms, garbage cans on site so you don't have to pack out your own, bbqs are in great shape, so many picnic tables, covered areas for parties. I love it here, there are tons of trees so even in the heat of the day you won't fry! Update, we were there for 7 hours, there were easily 200 people in the park and not once did any park staff check or clean any of the bathrooms, most had no toilet paper and those that had any left were peed on.....yes, you read that right. Beautiful park, bathrooms are disgusting, they don't even have soap. Bring your own toilet paper, hand soap, seat covers (not joking) and some Lysol wipes. Somebody came around and emptied all the park garbages twice though just never touched the bathrooms. read more

Awesome park with great trails! Love the summer activities offered including kayak rentals and great places for dogs to jump in to cool off in the river! Do be-careful of the Floria blooms on hot summer days for people and pets. Just a suggestions parks with River access should post levels at access points for those that aren't aware of the danger. read more

Kayak up the river two months ago. The problem was the water was high from the rain the past two weeks. It took us an hour just to get a half mile. Going back only took 10 min. I was told to take another access to the river and paddle to cooks park and then float back. The water was reported to be easier in down river location. Armed with water and some fun drinks, my pal "Sledge" and I launched our city kayaks and went on a super thrilling and relaxing kayak chat--- man, has that been the highlight of my vacation in my erstwhile home. So many on the wide waterway-- Upstream on the Tualatin River is toward Newberg, and downstream, toward the I5. Many places to stop and lunch, inlet for exploring, one rope swing spotted. Here duos rent for $2X, and a single kayak is about $35 for a few hours. High school boys man that operation at the park. The weather could not have been any more ideal. We said it until we were blue in h face. I return to CA, made golden and fully tanned--- by Oregon?! Yep-- 'tis so true. read more

A beautiful park with many trails, various picnic shelters, and activities (soccer field, baseball field, play area, boat deck). Plenty of parking though the boat ramp area can get crowded. The butterfly garden is nice that leads to various areas, all the way to another park and dog park too The picnic shelter we were at had everything needed. Couple things to note is the restrooms. No soap which was a surprise and wish it was available. Also, wish there were more maps or layouts of the park as it was a bit hard to find the picnic area read more

The largest park in Tigard, Cook Park has a baseball/soccer field, a volleyball court, a kid's playground, several shaded picnic and cookout areas, a winding walking path through the river bottom, and easy access to a boat dock on the Tualatin River. It's a great place to relax and spend an afternoon. read more

A couple years ago, Tualatin and Tigard decided to meet in the middle... of the Tualatin River that is. They built the Tualatin River Ped Bridge to connect Cook Park in Tigard with Tualatin Community Park and now both communities can enjoy the gorgeous natural area on both sides of the river. Cook Park spans 79 acres along the Tualatin River. It is best known for hosting the Festival of Balloons http://www.tigardballoon.org/ every June. The park is a mix of wetlands, open areas, sports fields, playgrounds and trails. We've also used the boat launch for our canoe and kayaks. Our family likes to start in Tualatin and bike over the bridge to Cook Park. Along the way we always pass a ton of walkers (usually with dogs and/or kids in tow) and other cyclists. There are benches and shelters if you want to stop along the way and a nice mix of open and canopied areas that protect you from the sun in the summer and wind and rain in the winter. I take my kid here to play at the play structures. They have multiple spots. From a little kid area, to a large area and another spot near a bbq area. Great place for a family picnic. Many restrooms that are accessible. I love the walking and running trails around the area. Great place to take your dogs (on leash) an just enjoy. read more

What a lovely park. My first time here. My friend and I mostly drove through and walked a bit - but it was damn cold yesterday. The park is BIG - bigger than I think or it looks. My friend tells me they have concerts and events in summer under the tent or bandstand or whatever. There's baseball fields, a volleyball field and others I think. Bike path, lovely paths by the water. This is also the spot where they rent kayaks and canoes in summertime. Next year, I'm on it like a bonnet! Awesome place to take the kiddos! As well as a perfect spot for picnics and family get-togethers, I love the playgrounds at this park - one is central & HUGE with lots of big-kid stuff, while the other is smaller & secluded (take a left when you enter the park, before the previous playground) with plenty for toddlers to play on. My kid has fun at both and we often take a long walk before/after playing. The trails are superbly maintained. We see lots of birds and squirrels, and ducks in the river from the bridge. Sometimes, we even stop to watch the commuter MAX running along the trail, which is awesome for my kiddo - she loves trains! We've also been to the Tigard Balloon Festival held at Cook Park every summer, which is fun. Check it out and enjoy! read more

I've been to cook park dozens and dozens of times, and I have to say, it's really a cool place to hang out. There's a nice playground, dock area (floods every now and then), many places to have a picnic, many tables, it connects to many places. Places nearby: Bridgeport village, Tualatin skate park, Tigard highschool, and the Tigard neighborhood behind Durham road. There's a nice/serene place to walk on a trail. There's a butterfly garden and wetlife area. Not only that, once a year it's host to the Balloon Festival. Great food, great rides, and great music. read more

Great picnic park! Lots of shaded grassy areas as well as picnic tables. Two large play structures, one just for 2-5 y/o children. This is great if you have kids with a larger age difference, mine are 1 & 8. The only reason I gave Cook Park 4 out of 5, not 5, is that a water feature for the kids during the summer would complete the package. My boys and I will be spending a lot of time at this park this summer. read more

A really awesome park. Lots of areas to go. A main concrete pathway that wraps around park. Smaller off path trails to get lost on. Plenty of picnic space and kid play areas. My only knock is that there isn't a set off leash area for my dog. I realize it's within reasonable walking distance to a mediocre Tualatin dog park, but a park of this size should offer a bigger area for fido and friends to run without upsetting others. if you don't have a dog this park would be perfect. If you do have a dog, it's still a really nice place to walk him, but on leash. read more

This is a great park for doing portrait shoots. There's the river your model can wade in, low trees for posing against, a dock, picnic tables, and rustic looking fences. It's easily accessible, has many versatile areas for backgrounds, and is quite large so there's many places to pose your portrait subjects. read more
