This park has extensive walking trails, both paved and unpaved with lots of variety in the elevation which makes for a great workout with inclines and downhills. There are tons of trees but also lots of open space so you can experience the sun and also have plenty of shade. With benches and other built-in seating (retaining walls) throughout the park, there are so many places to take a break, enjoy the sights and sounds of nature or meditate. There is also a play area for the kids as well as picnic areas and a nice wood burning fireplace, and rest rooms nearby. There are also tennis courts and parking is plentiful. On this visit we ventured off to the left of the main trail and did some serious hiking up the hill, which we surprisingly discovered backs up to a nearby neighborhood. It felt like we were truly away in the woods even though civilization is so close by! This park is a true example of why I love Oregon so much. Nature is so accessible and part of the community, not separate or hard to get to. It's magical that you can literally cross the street from your house and be surrounded by beautiful trees and wildlife.

I'm so glad I did! What struck me first and most about this park was how clean and well maintained it is. They have a delightful sand box with water feature that, I'm sure, will keep the kids busy all day. They also have a very unique and creative rope contraption to climb on (I don't know what the cool kids call it). And there's a skate park, basketball court, baseball diamond, and tennis court to keep everyone happy. We were there on Friday night and the tennis court was filled with folks playing Pickle Ball. So cool to see so many people outside and active on a beautiful summer evening. Finally, there's a wide, well maintained walking path along the river that is delightful. It's so awesome to find a public place like this. We all need more of this!

The paved paths aren't long, but wander around the school fields and the park, turning into a raised plastic-ish walking surface. Slightly entertaining ...yet slightly annoying as I ended up a tad messy. No biggie though, winding paths and trails are always greatly appreciated. There are trees to climb and stumps but not a lot for elementary aged kids. And the parking. Forget it. There are maybe 8 spaces. But both my elementary aged kids (6 and 8) found it a bit boring and for little ones.

With few exceptions, everyone adheres to the, clearly posted, on-leash rule. There are 2 doggy clean-up bag dispensers and dog-owners are extremely mindful about keeping the park super clean. The overall vibe is really pleasant and people of all ages enjoy this place - including lots of teens. If you, or someone you know, has mobility issues, there are wooden benches located on most of the walking paths. On any given day, you'll see people pausing to rest a bit or just enjoying a visit with friends. There is a sheltered structure located in the middle of the park. Always lots of people walking their dogs. There is a lovely picnic area with several tables and chairs under a vine covered pergola. For coverage from the rain or sun, there is a large A-frame structure next to it that also has lots of tables, chairs and even a fireplace. You can reserve this area for gatherings through Lake Oswego. We came her to celebrate Mother's Day and a friends birthday, needing to be outside since the two guests of honor recently had Covid. Even though they were three weeks out, we didn't want to take chances so held our celebration here. There was plenty of space for us to be together yet separate. Lots of garbage cans everywhere making it easy to clean up afterwards. In the summer Foothills Park is part of the Concerts in the Park series which I absolutely love!
