This is no George Rogers park up the road, but still a nice walk somewhat along the Willamette River. It's not as long of a path as George Rogers, but scenic from ground level, whereas GR is a higher up view of the Willamette and longer. My only complaint is that the grass is not maintained. It's so super high that on warmer summer days, the risk of seeing snakes hiding in there is too high.

Plus walking paths through several acres of rolling hills with wonderful views immersed in nature. The splash pads are open again (until 7pm) and the kids were certainly joying them. The play structures are both stunning and interactive, even a look-out tower with a telescope that views a constellation ceiling. Very cool. Slides, step rocks, climbing structures, picnic tables in the open and shade, lots of benches, even water bowls for dogs - clearly a lot of thought went into the design and build of Spring Garden Park. It's close to Multnomah Village which is how I discovered it after visiting the food truck area and wanting someplace serene to enjoy my meal. Park right on SW Spring, just be mindful of not blocking the neighbors driveways as it's in a residential area. Close to SW Barbur.

We went on a sunny day and it wasn't over crowded. -1 star for personal reasons: my daughter is young (19 mo) and was able to swing on the baby seat swing, however, she was not confident to try the older play structure. The structure seems more appropriate for 2.5 and older. It has a pretty cool rock climber for older kids. My experience makes me wonder if there are parks in Portland that are more inclusive for all children and their abilities? I hope that Portland Parks and Recreation would be willing to rethink how they can be more inclusive when designing a park. I will be the first to admit I know nothing about building a park, but If I did I would want everyone to feel included.

So nostalgic! Every time I swim in Lake Oswego I'm transported back to my childhood with long…read moresummer days spent swimming in the lake, jumping off the dock and playing on the sandy beach. The beach area is covered with lots of trees from large trees, there is plenty of room to picnic (grills available), a snack bar, restrooms, playground and lake access. This beach is closed to everyone except those that live within the boundaries of a Lake Grove School District. Fortunately I have friends who live on the canal and I'm invited out often for boat rides and to anchor and swim in the swimming hole by this beach. Water is surprisingly warmer than I ever predict, but still a cool and refreshing 77 which feels awesome on a hot summer day. This summer, 2020, we enjoyed many pop-up concerts where the band performed on a barge. Missing all the concert and movies in the park, this was a welcomed way to enjoy summer while being socially distanced. My favorite day is July 4th when the town of Lake O lights fireworks over the lake. This is open to anyone, but obviously it's super crowded so if you plan on watching from the beach, get there super early! We watch from the boat, anchoring and tying up with other boats, and then enjoy the magnificent display of fireworks and their reflection on the water while sipping wine, enjoying snacks and great conversation. It's one of my favorite nights of the year! Sadly, the fireworks were cancelled in 2020, along with most everything, but I still spent several heavenly days and evenings on the lake.

Great park!! Definitely coming back!…read more The park is split into two areas for tots and older kids - There are two baby swings, a double slide, 4 ways to climb to the slide, a tunnel and a steering wheel for the tots. There is a bigger slide 4 ways to climb to it including a climbing bridge instead of a waking bridge, monkey bars, and a sliding raid and one platform swing. The park is covered in bark for the playgrounds but surrounded by grass, shaded by trees and well maintained. There is poison oak in the trees at the edge of the grass area so I wouldn't wonder beyond the grass unless on a path. There are restrooms across the parking area from the park and plenty of parking - for a Wednesday anyway. Just a sliver of a bigger recreation area and a fantastic pit stop for littles. Not too far from I-5 if needed and well hidden so not a ton of traffic around. Although close to roads (so watch littles close) it is fenced on the street side and open on the parking side. There are waking trails, 4 picnic tables, open grass area, 3 benches available and a dual level fountain.

River kayak & SUP rental | great picnic spot…read more Cook park is a family friendly park. It's huge too. Many can walk around, bring their own boats/kayaks/SUP to launch off the ramp, fish on the river, or have a picnic. It's beautiful here, but it's also very popular over the summer months when folks want to use this place to launch off the ramp. Parking is hard to find. At this spot, you can rent through the Tualatin Riverkeepers. They provided life vests and the kayak of our choice. It was great paddling out on the water with my kid. We stayed pretty close by, so the water was really calm and beginner friendly. We didn't venture past the freeway underpass, we went to the right side from the boat launch. Some parts are so shallow you hit some rocks. This park also offers soccer fields and an updated inclusive family playground. Highly recommend coming here.

This is it! I finally found it!!…read more I have spent the last two years asking myself why there aren't any covered playgrounds in Portland, and where I am supposed to take my energetic little kid to play on rainy days. West Lake Park is the answer. The playground is covered, with equipment for both toddlers and big kids. There is a bathroom about thirty feet from the play structure, hallelujah! The picnic area is also amazing. There are 4 covered tables with a buffet counter lining a wall, and along this counter there are 3 outlets, meaning you can set up your crock pot, and plug it in. There is additional table or two near the covered 4, if you're looking to get a large group together and it isn't raining. There is also a huge, well kept, athletic field joined with the play ground, that is open for running on. There are water fountains too. This is the best laid out park I've ever been to. If you're looking to host a party, this is where you should do it!
