As much as I want to give this place a 4 or 5 star review because of alllllll the things I've heard about and read about, I have to give this place one star for now. We have tried to come here twice. The first time, the place was closed for a week, according to the sign on the door. (It wasn't posted on yelp). Today, the hours on Yelp said that it would open at 12. We arrive at 12 and there is a sign that says, "We will open at 12:30." We are hungry and thirsty so we are going elsewhere. The reviews of the product itself (boba) sound amazing!!! My friend who went to vcu raves about this spot. My boyfriend and I have been so excited to try it, but have been let down twice! The other folks who have reviewed this place weren't lying when they said, This place just makes up their own hours and pretty much opens whenever. Kinda unprofessional right. Fresh chewy yummy boba!!! And to our surprise, most of the milk teas are dairy free!!! That made me (vegan) and my bf (lactose intolerant) very happy. Boba on folks! This spot = heaven. I'll admit that I'm by no means a bubble tea connoisseur or anything, but this is the best I've ever had. I'm blown away by the amount of flavors they have to choose from, and each one I've tried has been really tasty. My favorite is rose milk tea, but I'm also a big fan of the honey milk tea (with boba, of course!). I keep wanting to try some of the crazy other flavors, but I'm so loyal to these two I never really give myself a chance to! They also have a small selection of snack-type food, as well as different kinds of noodles, but I feel like it's all a little too expensive to consider buying. The setup is simple, with a couple couches thrown around and playing cards on the table. Whenever I visit, there are always at least a couple VCU students hanging out, sipping their teas. One of the better boba places in Richmond and this is where I come when I need my fix. They sell different varieties or bubble tea/slush/tea/etc and have lots of different flavors to choose from. Every time I have been there I have left satisfied. Parking can be a little difficult depending on the day/time you go, but for a lot of people in the city this is a walkable distance. read more

Best bubble tea I've had outside of NY/Cali. The boba is always perfectly chewy, never overly soft, or (God forbid) hard/dense in the middle. They have a huge variety. I haven't tried most of the flavors, but you can't go wrong with the classic Royal Milk Tea with boba. Jasmine Milk tea is also excellent. A couple (pretty important) gripes - they are ALWAYS out of jelly. What is the dealio?! If you can't keep it in stock, take it off the menu! Maybe I should blame Taiwan's exporters? Also, the prices have been creeping up. My small size Royal Milk Tea with boba was a whopping $4.35! This place hasn't changed a bit. I came here my freshman year of college and its still the same owner... I'm sure the playing cards are still the same ones from back then also! Anyway, owners are funny and will let you sample certain flavors. I always go with one of my usuals, Taro or Thai milk teas with Boba. I don't think they do extra boba anymore. Worse bubble tea place I've been to. An unfriendly lady took our order of three drinks and told us to wait 15 minutes without any explanation until we asked her. She said the bubbles are being cooked. Okay, fine but should have told us before we even placed the order. So I ordered the taro milk tea (my usual at bubble tea joints) which was on the top of their popular drinks list. It did not look right and surely it did not taste right either. It was just unbearable, I'm not sure if it was even taro flavor, just super sweet powdered-water and ice. I also had my friends to try it and they couldn't drink it either. I ended up throwing it away. One of my friends also threw away his almond milk tea. I certainly won't be coming back here when I'm in the area. When it comes to boba, this is one of the best places for it. I tried various places in the west coast and this really compares to them. I live in Virginia Beach, and I honestly made a trip to come here just for this and go back home without going anywhere else many times! I love the chill out atmosphere, I loved the banana milk tea and at first I didn't taste the tea(good thing) and then I started tasting it, it was very good also. This place has a nostalgic feeling of an old, traditional boba shop in the 90's with no extras needed to make it stand out. The drinks are very flavorful and don't taste like they're made from concentrate. The owner is really nice and seems like he's been doing this for awhile. The drinks are pretty good, however, the reason why they are only receiving three stars is because the service is wasn't great. We weren't greeted, and it didn't seem like they wanted my business. Bubble Tea, one of the finest export from Taiwan. My first exposure for bubble tea was actually from Maria's bakery in DC. so in comparison, this is just as good, especially being one of the very few places you can get this around Richmond. To be honest, i've never had it while i was in Taiwan, but I'm sure I'll get another chance soon and then i'll be able to make a more critical comparison with the 'real thing'. but standing on its own, i have no problem saying it's the best in town and just as good as the ones in DC and Virginia Beach. They have lots of flavors and will mix and match them for you. If two flavors don't go together, they will just just say so!!! I have been here once and tried mixing lychee and rose flavors and it turned out to be pretty good. My friends tried Taro ( was great) and almond ( not so good.. too much almond essence). Being from southern california where boba is very popular, I came here expecting overpriced, subpar "bubble tea", as it's called on the east coast. And I wasn't far off from my expectations; the drink was overpriced (over 4 dollars for just a normal cup), and definitley does not compare to anything on the west coast. Decent boba place with some great flavors! However, they do not use real fruits. They use powders and for some flavors, it tastes artificial so I steer away from getting their smoothies and certain milk tea flavors. I do admit it's only because I am accustomed to having real fruit in my bubble tea! Their taro milk tea is one of their popular drinks. However from my experience, they use a lot of powder. There is residue and grainy texture towards the end of your drink. If you want to steer away from the super powdery stuff, their flavored teas are great! They don't put a lot of powder in the fruity ones. I love getting the passion fruit green tea. And for milk tea, I'm a big fan of their jasmine milk tea and Thai iced tea. Overall, a great boba place for Richmond! But I really only go here because it's the only one around close to campus. I found TT Lounge through yelp and visited when I was in Richmond. The menu was crazy long and the owner was really nice. He asked if it was my first visit to TT Lounge (it was), and gave me free samples of their most popular flavors - taro and almond milk tea. Both were delicious but I had already made up my mind to get mocha green tea when I saw it on the menu since I had never seen it elsewhere. The bf got lychee because he likes sticking with flavors he knows and likes. The lychee was so sweet and while I would have preferred a stronger mocha flavor to mine, the mocha green tea was still really tasty. The boba was slightly sweet and had a good chew to it which is just the way I like it. I can see why TT Lounge is so popular but I wish they used real fruit instead of powders. Then again, they probably have so many flavors because they use powders! read more

Pretty good, most of the time. Been coming here for about 10 years and have not really had an issue. Taro and royal milk tea are the best, in my opinion. Just the right sweetness. DO NOT order the Hibiscus flavor. It is SICKENINGLY sweet and artificial tasting. Think fruity soda with a cup of sugar added. No BS. After discovering boba a few years ago, I was eager to try this place out seeing as how they specialize in the drink and have lots of flavors. I was not disappointed. Both times I have gone, the owner has been the one to serve me, and he has been very nice. When I told him it was my first time there, he gave me instructions on how to poke the straw through, gave me a to-go bag filled with ice to keep my drinks cold, and told me to ask for samples next time. Very helpful! I was impressed! As for the flavors, I have tried green apple, mango, honeydew, royal milk and taro. Green apple and mango were way too sugary and artificial tasting for me. Royal milk was ok and I wasn't a fan of the taro at all. But the honeydew is absolutely perfect! My favorite is the honeydew slush with boba. The flavor is perfect and the ice is blended very well. The boba is the best I have ever had - great flavor and perfect texture. The inside of this place is very cute too, with comfy chairs and couches as well as board games. Hit or miss. It's so frustrating how they change their hours (open late) and you only find out by going to the store and reading a handwritten sign on the door. This happened several times and it's such a turn off. Their boba is average. I've had better but for Rva, this is the only choice. I recommend the Taro, coconut milk tea, mango slushee, or lychee slushee. Their thai milk tea tasted way too artificial for me to order again. Best bubble tea in the area in my opinion, with a consistently friendly owner. The environment is playfully casual, with lounge seating and board games for hanging out. Their milk teas (my favorite kind) are smooth and creamy. Taro and green tea are really good and my go to flavors, although I've had many others depending on my mood! Their tapioca balls are a good chewy texture which is a plus. Although this place is great, and as previously mentioned probably the best in the area, one negative is that the quality, variety, and ingredient options are much more limited than equivalent places in other regions (say, southern California). As bubble tea continues to increase in popularity, I think that a wise move would be for TT's to really step up their game to anticipate the likely competition.
