33rdDoes anyone NOT love this place? It's truly the coolest! I'm so glad they've been able to stick it out over all these years despite uncaring landlords and evil developers giving their best shots at taking this beloved and very much needed community epicenter away from us. Incredibly diverse selection of new and used titles and subjects, plus consistently awesome community events and performances of art and music. Treat yourself! read more

LOVED this store, I think we could have spent all day perusing the extensive shelves. The gal at the register was very friendly and helpful, we felt welcome and left with an armful of books. There was an especially good selection of children's books. A must-stop! read more

Cozy and big with the great smell of books. Very nice staff. Nice selection of books and some vinyl records for sale too! Great finds! read more

So glad we stumbled upon this place! We had brunch across the street from the store, and saw the table and rack of used books outside for only a dollar! I definitely was able to add to my collection at such an affordable cost! Inside too, there's a great selection of used books. The staff is friendly and really knowledgeable. After the cashier learned I was from Seattle, they recommended some local, non-tourist places around the area to check out. This is the kind of bookstore that you can tell the community supports and treasures. read more

This local bookstore Rocks! Books & more Books, Author Readings, Poetry Slams, and (actually my favorite) is the Truly Amazing music that comes through this place. It has a cozy feel, & musicians love the acoustics. I guess the curved wooden ceiling and all them books are a plus. read more

What a great used and new bookstore. I walked a mile to get to this store and I was not disappointed. Great section of local writers for children. read more

Big space with decent selection of books- I didn't really understand the vibe but maybe it's because I don't quite have Eugene pegged-lots of Oregon specific gardening books and great vegetarian cookbook selection. The selection of political books is also pretty fantastic. I picked up a copy of Kerouac's Subterranean and the man at the checkout gave me a brief history of his writing frenzy that led to the creation of the book. I like literary people- they make me happy. There is a big space in the back that was occupied by what appeared to be a hippie book club. read more

This place is awesome! As a business owner and someone who has worked in law enforcement, I appreciate their hospitality and sincerity. I was looking for a certain high demand books and was offered the best customer service possible. The courteous staff member took my info and offered to contact me upon receiving their inventory. I like the quaintness of this unique book store, I will even return to check out their music venue. read more

Great little local store. Very old school. They have a lot of metaphysical books and local stuff. They'll order things if they don't have them too. Great atmosphere. read more

Good bookstore: very organized, inexpensive, both new and used books, two separate large rooms full of selection.

Visiting Tsunami is almost like going back in time. A time when people spoke to you with a sincerity that let you know immediately you were a valued fellow human being. Not just because you are potentially going to buy something from them. Because they, too, share in your love of books. I attended a poetry reading here recently and it was so much more than that. It was like an entire community coming together to support each other. There were so many cakes and pies and cookies and drinks, so many people laughing and sharing their stories. During the reading, everyone listened intently as those on the stage shared their words. Tsunami is a little far out for someone who depends upon their feet for transportation, but compared to the way I am treated at other bookstores around town, it's worth the walk. read more

Everything you would want in a bookstore. Perfect for bookstore lovers or just curious to see what's inside. Lots of used to chose from, nice quaint places to sit, Art, records, and other merchandise. It's a really nice vibe and easy to get lost inside for an hour. Definitely check out this hidden Eugene gem. read more

Nice store and they have space for community events here, my first visit was for a local author releasing and signing her book. I believe they discount 10% off new books. They're at risk of closing so please give them your business, you won't be sorry! read more

This is the kind of place that keeps culture alive. Come browse, buy a book, chat with friendly people, maybe find yourself in an interesting discussion. If I was President of the World, I'd give bookstores like this tax-free status. There's interesting original art on the walls, beautiful hunks of sanded lumber all over the place, concerts, readings, off-beat books. Tsunami is a gem and Eugene is lucky to have it. GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR MONEY! They are the good guys! read more

I have received excellent service every time I've shopped at this book store. According to the rest of my family, they have too. The staff is very knowledgeable about what they carry and are quick to order it for you if they don't have it. There is a wide variety of books (new and used) at reasonable prices. I also like that there are many great events that take place at the book store. It is also a pleasant environment. Thank you Tsunami for great variety and service! read more

My family was visiting for the Truffle Festival, but I had nothing to do with my spare time, so I decided to visit several book stores in the area. This was by far my favorite one!! The sections were a bit spread out across the store, but they were clearly labeled, so it was easy to find what I was looking for. The atmosphere is very comfortable and there are lots of places to sit and read if you want. Very excited to come back next time I'm in Eugene! :) read more

This bookstore is the Eugene equivalent of City Lights in SF -- a cultural hub for the literati, and a safe haven for poets. If you live in Eugene/Spfd you owe it to yourself to meet the proprietor, Scott. He is the friendliest bookstore owner in town (perhaps in the state). The rare book room is fun to search through, and there are periodic good sales with discounts across the board. I visit all the bookshops in town, but this is the one that feels most important to the community. read more

My favorite book store! Welcoming and informative staff - they even have a staff recommended shelf, which is oh-so nice. The variety is incredible and the community events are great. read more

I just played a concert at Tsunami Books and found it to be one of the BEST venues I've played in my 40 years as a touring recording artist. it turns out, stacks of books are the BEST for acoustic treatment of a room! And both the stage and the audience space are so roomy and comfortable. Scott has created a fantastic space for book, music and poetry lovers. I'm utterly charmed and can't wait to go back and hunt through the stacks. Highly recommended!! This is such a rare and wonderful find. read more

This is one of those places where you can certainly make a quick stop for a good book, but I prefer to stay and browse the shelves for hidden gems. The owner is very knowledgeable and so supportive of the community, especially the arts. You'll find some very high caliber writers and musicians reading and performing here, and then he also makes room for young artists as well, hosting recitals, showcases, and poetry slams by kids. This is clearly a place that's run by someone who loves what he's doing, and eager to share his love of books and the arts with others! read more

This bookstore is my absolute favorite place to spend time in Eugene. Its friendly atmosphere and excellent out-of-print selection draws me to spend more money than I can afford time and time again. I can spend hours there, writing, reading and drinking free tea (oh, yes, their free tea!) not to mention all of the readings, meetings and concerts that are held there. This bookstore is a hub of culture in so many ways. It deserves all the support it can get from everyone in Eugene. read more

Quirky and fun is how I would describe this store. Nice arrangement and fair prices are only the beginning. Not only a book store Scott, the owner, is also active in the community. He has scheduled events and features local authors. The staff is kind and helpful and never too busy to take care of customers. Imagine that! And a bargain cart in the front just like the old time booksellers. Drop on by and have a look around.Even if you don't find anything you will be glad you did. This is the kind of store that made bookstores a great place to visit once upon a time. read more
