The owner always offers to order it but I go to a indie book seller to be able to touch and peruse books not just order what I want. The place is good sized but not large, I will do my best to find the topics they do best here because, unfortunately, they are not the same as mine. read more

This local bookstore Rocks! Books & more Books, Author Readings, Poetry Slams, and (actually my favorite) is the Truly Amazing music that comes through this place. It has a cozy feel, & musicians love the acoustics. I guess the curved wooden ceiling and all them books are a plus. read more

So glad we stumbled upon this place! We had brunch across the street from the store, and saw the table and rack of used books outside for only a dollar! I definitely was able to add to my collection at such an affordable cost! Inside too, there's a great selection of used books. The staff is friendly and really knowledgeable. After the cashier learned I was from Seattle, they recommended some local, non-tourist places around the area to check out. Visiting Tsunami is almost like going back in time. A time when people spoke to you with a sincerity that let you know immediately you were a valued fellow human being. Not just because you are potentially going to buy something from them. Because they, too, share in your love of books. I attended a poetry reading here recently and it was so much more than that. It was like an entire community coming together to support each other. There were so many cakes and pies and cookies and drinks, so many people laughing and sharing their stories. During the reading, everyone listened intently as those on the stage shared their words. Tsunami is a little far out for someone who depends upon their feet for transportation, but compared to the way I am treated at other bookstores around town, it's worth the walk. read more

Big space with decent selection of books- I didn't really understand the vibe but maybe it's because I don't quite have Eugene pegged-lots of Oregon specific gardening books and great vegetarian cookbook selection. The selection of political books is also pretty fantastic. I picked up a copy of Kerouac's Subterranean and the man at the checkout gave me a brief history of his writing frenzy that led to the creation of the book. I like literary people- they make me happy. There is a big space in the back that was occupied by what appeared to be a hippie book club. read more

Since moving to Eugene I have been to ALL the used book stores and this is by far my favorite ... The owner is nice and helpful and so are al his staff . The books he has are great and he has subjects on all books . Prices are extremely reasonable ! Usually I leave Barnes and nobles paying 30.00 for 1 book so it's nice to come here and leave with 5 books for the same price . :) read more

My family was visiting for the Truffle Festival, but I had nothing to do with my spare time, so I decided to visit several book stores in the area. This was by far my favorite one!! The sections were a bit spread out across the store, but they were clearly labeled, so it was easy to find what I was looking for. The atmosphere is very comfortable and there are lots of places to sit and read if you want. Very excited to come back next time I'm in Eugene! :) read more

Its on south main street in town & specializes in old beat, hippy, gardening, & local published books. Good low prices on used & new books, selections is improving more now. I have received excellent service every time I've shopped at this book store. According to the rest of my family, they have too. The staff is very knowledgeable about what they carry and are quick to order it for you if they don't have it. There is a wide variety of books (new and used) at reasonable prices. This bookstore is the Eugene equivalent of City Lights in SF -- a cultural hub for the literati, and a safe haven for poets. If you live in Eugene/Spfd you owe it to yourself to meet the proprietor, Scott. He is the friendliest bookstore owner in town (perhaps in the state). The rare book room is fun to search through, and there are periodic good sales with discounts across the board. I visit all the bookshops in town, but this is the one that feels most important to the community. read more

I just played a concert at Tsunami Books and found it to be one of the BEST venues I've played in my 40 years as a touring recording artist. it turns out, stacks of books are the BEST for acoustic treatment of a room! And both the stage and the audience space are so roomy and comfortable. Scott has created a fantastic space for book, music and poetry lovers. This is one of those places where you can certainly make a quick stop for a good book, but I prefer to stay and browse the shelves for hidden gems. The owner is very knowledgeable and so supportive of the community, especially the arts. You'll find some very high caliber writers and musicians reading and performing here, and then he also makes room for young artists as well, hosting recitals, showcases, and poetry slams by kids. This bookstore is my absolute favorite place to spend time in Eugene. Its friendly atmosphere and excellent out-of-print selection draws me to spend more money than I can afford time and time again. I can spend hours there, writing, reading and drinking free tea (oh, yes, their free tea!) not to mention all of the readings, meetings and concerts that are held there.
