I don't often come to this place because I find it to be too expensive for a single serving of noodles and milk tea, which usually costs around $20. Instead, I prefer to go to Yunang Rice Noodle where the lunch is cheaper. Before COVID, I used to only come here to order a milk tea, but if I had to choose between the two, I would say the house style vermicelli are better than the Gui Lin style.

    Pork noodle in soup

Went here for dinner on a week day for some quick grub and because the wife really wanted some rice noodles. We ordered the stir fried rice noodles (#12) and the pork noodle in soup and the special of the day chili fragrant chicken. While it was a satisfying meal i felt that Tsui Wah was more of a cha can ting that serves rice noodles as opposed to a Gui Lin restaurant. My stir fries noodles were a little too greasy, and flavor was very simple of soy sauce and salt but what really surprised me was the little pieces of pickled cabbage which actually cut the grease a bit (highly appreciated). The wife's rice noodles were nothing special but the plus was that it was actually flavored as opposed to some of the other rice noodle places which we have visited. The disappointing fact was that other than vinegar and black bean sauce, there wasn't much additional flavor. Lastly the chicken was simple dark meat deep fried and then stir fried in some chili sauce which while juicy was lacking the spice factor. Overall for the price and the portion a very value meal, but not a place i come regularly just because of the flavor and the oiliness

You can find Gui Lin Style of almost anything at Tsui Wah! Curiously if you google Gui Lin cuisine, it is known for the use of spices, especially chili. Gui Lin Style noodle that serves here are not spicy at all!! Beef Vermicelli in Soup Gui Lan Style ($6.95) has this brownish meat broth based and garnished with fresh tomato cubes, cilantro, green onion and preserved vegetables. The chili oil as condiments on the table did make my noodles tasted a lot better! The order was quite sizable and comforting on a cold winter night! Try not to sit in the front of the restaurant, as you can feel this drift whenever customers come in and out of the restaurant. Cash only!

Chicken rice noodle soup, Gui Lin style

Tried their most popular Gui Lin style rice noodles, the chicken one. I'm not a fan of rice noodle soup, so all rice noodles taste similar to me. But I like them putting that pickle-tasted vegetables into the soup, which leveled up the flavor. The portion was huge.

I ordered the minced pork rice noodle in soup (house style). It's good. The soup itself is a bit sour and it has marinated bamboo shoot. It is what I expected. I like it. My husband order fried Rice noodles with minced pork (GUI Lin style). Hmmm, a bit oily. We were expected the GUI Lin style rice noodles like the one I had, not the thin ones. We also ordered fried chicken. It was not good. I would definitely come back for the rice noodles soup. I am giving it a 4 stars alll because of the rice noodle soup and the very good price.

Love their lamb noodle soup. Comfort food for me on a cold day. Broths are very flavourful. Deep fried items need work. Workers are nice and theres tv to watch while you eat.

Gwai Lum Beef Brisket Noodle, $10.42 plus tip..

I would say 2.5 stars rounding down to a 2.. meaning I would prefer to not revisit This place is known for their gwai lum soup noodle broth. Although I am not familiar with this taste, I would say it's unique and worth giving a try! It does taste pretty good! The noodles and beef brisket it came with I am very familiar with and would say the noodles were ok, nothing special, portioned pretty big.. so, the eighth size for me and too much for a girl. The beef brisket needed more work, it was chewy, super chewy! Giving it a 2 star rating because the beef brisket noodle was $10.45 plus tips, The best wonton places like Wonton Chai or Jim chi Kee sell their famous best in the gta wonton noodles for $4.99 and $5.99. Having said that, this place is way over priced, even if they are the best in the gta.

    #5 Beef Brisket

This place is great! I always get the number 5 which is the beef brisket, and it's delicious. Maybe it's because I live so close by, i'm just used to coming here.. but i'm always craving it. I love how they put the pickled veges in there. It's the best part about it. The parking is okay. Quite a bit of parking, I never have issues with it. It's a fairly small restaurant, but they're never fully packed. The good thing is that the food comes extremely quick and the portions are huge, but it is sliiightly pricey.

I came here many years ago when i first came to Toronto. Coming back now, nothing has changed, which in this case, is a good thing. Pros: Food is well done, specially anything stir fried Lots of items to choose from Cons: Main menu all in Chinese Tsui Wah is just plain old school. I went to place over 10 years ago and it doesn't look like it's changed at all. Small things like the signs and menus have been updated but it's very much the same place it was all those years ago. Tsui Wah looks exactly like what HK diner would look like in the late 90's. Everything from the decor and furniture. I normally don't like that sorta thing, but because their food has stayed the same, I'm good with it. As soon as you walk in, you get a sense of that "wok hei" that Chinese people are so familiar with. When you get a whiff of that, you know the stir fried stuff is going to be good. I ordered the fried rice noodle with beef and my GF ordered the BBQ pork Gui Lin noodles. This place specializes in Gui Lin cuisine. They have an entire sub menu dedicated to it. In my opinion, fried rice noodle with beef is an excellent benchmark for stir fry dishes at a restaurant. It's a simple dish to make, but a hard one to master sorta deal. If a place does this dish well, it will pretty much do well on other stir fry dishes. The beef noodle here was excellent, one of the better ones in the city. The noodles has some bite, but were not overly saturated with oil as well. There weren't too many onions, but it was still very aromatic. My GF's noodles were great as well. They were able to not make it spicy for our little one's benefit which was nice of them. The food here is still as good as it was when I first came. I mentioned this before in past reviews and I'll do it again. There is no excuse for having only Chinese menus when you're a business here in Canada. The menus have been updated but the main menu still lists everything in Chinese. I don't care if you're base clientele can read it, you're menus have to have English, plain and simple. My only real gripe about this place. Tsui Wah is the definition of old school. I feel like I'm back in HK for a bit when I'm here. The decor is severely outdated but the food more than makes up for it. I just hope they get an English menu soon. All in all, a wonderful place to grab a bite to eat.

The food here is very generous. We ordered the 4-person set with two side pots. Tomato Braised Beef Brisket and Chicken Stewed with Mushrooms and the portions were huge. Both pots arrived steaming hot and filled to the brim, clearly meant for sharing. The braised beef was rich and hearty, while the chicken pot was comforting and full of flavor, making it perfect for group dining or cold weather meals. Combined with the rustic, traditional décor, it really feels like authentic Northeast Chinese comfort food. The food and atmosphere were excellent, though the service was a bit lacking. I wanted to try Peking Duck and got clued into J&Y as one of the best options to try which did not disappoint. The Peking Duck was so tender, so flavorful and so wonderfully succulent. Scallions, cucumber, hoisin sauce completed each wrap which highlighted the duck. Definitely the best traditional Peking Duck preparation I've had in a very very long time. The remains of the duck were used for make a duck fried rice and duck soup, again both were amazing. It takes a certain skill to make fried rice cleanly without an excessive oily coating on each grain of rice. This was one of the best fried rices I've ever had! No gratuitous mushy frozen peas needlessly added either. Well seasoned fried pork ribs and veggies completed the courses I had, everything was truly wonderful and I hope to revisit again.

When they provided with a table it was right next to an exterior door, with people going in and out. The was a cold draft, we even had to tell the hostess/manager, if they could provide a divider to divert the draft from hitting our table. We ordered 9 dim sum dishes, one be Roasted Pig Mixed Cold Jellyfish, which was $23.80. I had the idea that it would be a fair portion. When it came, I was shocked, it was only 6 pieces of Roasted Pig. When I spoke with the manager about the portion size, he commented "for that price it is fair". There was not apologies and walked away, nor was it written on the menu. If I had known it was only 6 pieces (size of your index and middle finger put together). I would not have ordered it. If you want to have Roasted Pig, you can get better deals else where. Also, ordered Marinated Chicken Feet for $13.98, when it came to table, it was also a disappointment, part of the chicken feet was dark in colour, not even sure if it was even edible or not. Another dim sum dish that I have order was the steamed chicken with fish maw. The chicken was okay, but there was only two small pieces of fish maw, (the size of each piece was 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch). The order 6 dim sum dishes that was order was mediocre, tasted better from other Dim Sum restaurant. When I received the bill for the meal it came out to be $119.50, they even had included the tip. They didn't even give me an option weather a tip was even worthy. I will definitely not be returning to this place. I definitely do not recommend anyone to come to this restaurant. I would consider blacklisting this restaurant. It's simply deceiving customers.

The individual New Century slow boiled soup is hardest to share but secure some empty bowls and you can divide the hefty portion. In the winter, there's a silkiness to the piping hot consommé that sooths a dry throat and has an umami essence infused with abalone, ginseng, and pork. There's plenty to choose from in the house signature combo platter including roasted duck, soy sauce chicken, BBQ pork, pork slices, and seaweed salad. Saving my stomach for the later dishes, I had a taste of the duck (a good start with crispy skin) and BBQ pork (satisfactory and well flavoured). With the generous portion of chicken in the combo platter, the slow cooked chicken with abalone broth seemed like overkill. I've never been a huge fan of this dish that's served cold since I prefer chicken hot. Still, I understand it's the jelly layer between the skin and meat that people enjoy. And to be fair, the chicken was tender, and New Century certainly didn't skimp on the ginger and scallion oil. For those who tend to fill-up before the "main dishes", the stars of the combo arrive mid-meal. The stir-fried Vancouver crabs with silver fish in HK style spicy sauce needs to be eaten at arrival as the crunchy coating is best straight from the fryer. And despite not looking spicy, the dish has a light heat that permeates in the background. Additionally, the crab was fresh and meaty, cooked well so it remained delicately flakey. The amount of sweet and sticky sauce used in the stir-fried lobsters with scallion in Maggie sauce was well balanced, lightly covering the crustaceans. Both lobsters were substantial; even after eating many pieces, we still had plenty of leftovers. This is a long review head to Gastro World for the rest.
