I took my family here after a friend suggested this place. I love how even in a small group, they will give you a private room. They also take phone reservations which is great for a busy weekend morning. The dim sum selection is limited but lots of lunch items available after 11am. The food is good, some dishes better than others but overall it hit the spot. There is a 1.5 hour sitting limit which I was worried about but we did not feel rush given the food came out so fast. The service was really good as well. This place gives upscale vibes without the hefty price tag. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be back!
A super fancy private rooms only Chinese restaurant that has minimum spend per room. The decor inside is nice and service was good. It's a litera maze in there if you get lost. However, the food wasn't up to par with what they were trying to offer. Nothing really stood out to our party of 12 while we were dining here, and the food wasn't as high quality as you'd expect it to be at such a nice restaurant. Here's some dishes we got and what I thought: Braised Dongpo Pork Belly with Abalone and Lemongrass 4/5 - One of the better dishes for sure. Tender pork belly in a decadent sauce. It's fatty and pairs nice if you have a bowl of white rice. Huadiao wine Marinated Golden Chicken 3/5 - Nothing special. It's served as a cold appetizer Clay Pot Farmhouse Chicken with Basil 2/5 - It was okay. It's three cup chicken in Chinese. Nothing special and not so memorable. Auspicious Giant Squid 3/5 - it's a boiled squid, chopped up and served ontop of chili oil. An okay appetizer dishes. Stir Fried Rice with Minced Beef, Foie Gras, and Green Onion 4/5 - Another one of the better dishes. Mainly because of the fried foie gras that pairs well with the beef chunks. Stir Fried Crab Leg Meat with Egg White 3/5 - A good dish to eat with rice. Imperial lamb chops 2/5 - Super dry because it was fried. Came with crinkle fries. Overall, this restaurant was not my cup of tea. Quite disappointing for what they were trying to offer. Nothing really stood out to us and probably would wait for them to change up their menu before dining here again.
Premium but a little restrictive. Back here for dinner and it was an overall decent experience. Food was premium. We almost always order sweet and sour pork at every chinese restaurant but their take on this dish is very unique. Instead of a pile of fried pork covered in sauce, we got 8 pieces of large nugget sized pieces of pork that were battered like fish and chips and internally was wrapped in bacon. It was a unique take. I don't prefer this but appreciate the effort. Snow pea leaves is also another staple of ours and they make that well. As was their lobster fried with salted egg yolk. They have an eel with vegetable dish which is as ok. They also had a fried chicken dish that was way too salty. Free dessert included the best chinese cookie I ever had as well as an osamanthus dessert. Service was good when they were around. Our shell plates were replaced often. However there were times when no one could be found when we needed something. Like when getting the bill. Biggest annoyance was that they had a limited menu due to Chinese New Year but didn't tell us and still gave us the menu. This led to multiple rounds of them checking with us whirl we tried to figure out what to order because we didn't want to order their special CNY set menu that didn't have what we wanted and looked like it was priced up due to the cultural holiday. Private room that we had was decorative. The walls were paper thin so we could easily hear our neighbours who were really loud.
Went for dim sum. Had a 1pm reservation, but took a while to actually get seated. I think 15-30 mins. Really nice venue. Private rooms, each with their own washroom. Table is hugeeeeee with such a nice zen centerpiece. Feels like I'm in China. The deep fried radish cake is good and so is the glutinous fried rice. The har gow is nice. Wouldn't get "the greatest bun on earth" though. Everything else we tried is standard. Room was very warm, but can have attendant bring it down a little. Chairs need cleaning.
Very good dim sum spot. They are still in a soft opening stage although it's been open for a while now. For seating, you either have private booths (much preferable) or you will be in a larger room at the back which is ok, but kinda feels less special. The food is quite good. Maybe not S tier, but I would say 8/10 in quality. The service is ok. They also have large private dining rooms which I assume are for dinner reservations with large groups.
Beautiful interiors with almost everyone having a private dining area. You feel the fancy in this place as you walk the maze of hallways to get to your spot. The food though, is a bit of a letdown. Not bad, just not different despite the interesting names. And for those prices, you definitely expect elevated and new tastes. This place is streaming with people so I may be the minority here. But it's a pass for me.
NEW Super Luxurious Chinese restaurant, Luna Private Banquets 金樽覽月 just dropped where Frankie's Tomatto used to be! The restaurant is made up of individual private rooms inside, with a minimum spending per room for dinner as follows: 16-20 people, min. $2288 10-12 people, min. $1288 6-8 people, min. $888 Our group of friends had a chance to try out some recommended items, and the manager supersized 1.5x for some of the dishes, so everyone gets to try all items. Items we really enjoyed: - Plum Juice Jelly Cherry Tomatoes - Crystal Pork Terrine - Jumbo Tiger Shrimp with Salted Egg York (Golden Sand Style) - Golden Fried Rice with Eel - Fujian "Lor Mee" Braised Noodles
Finally gotten the chance to try out this place that finally took over from Frankie's Tomatoes old spot. I came here with my family for Thanksgiving lunch. When I walked in I was like wow! This is not Frankie's at all. Very posh looking. Ambiance is very fine and exquisite. I was led to a private room and there's an actual washroom within the party room, talk about design thinking/thoughtfulness. The food is decent and quite technical. And some of the ingredients used were quite tasty and refined. However I find the flavour a bit rich for my flavour profile. Overall the service is very good.
Good was pretty good. They have some typical Chinese dishes that they change the style for like the sweet and sour pork. It ends up being closer to a chicken ball with pork than the original take. The lobster is done perfect. Rooms are well set up and service is good. Can get loud despite the private rooms as they are sectioned off by a partition rather than walls.
Just had dinner in their VIP room and as usually it was a great experience! The food was good and service was great as usual. Obviously the price is not "great" (not cheap) but at least they consistently deliver and you will not be embarrassed taking guests there!
This is an absolute amazing new restaurant! Nicely decorated with modern luxurious decor. Each table is in it's private room with privacy to enjoy your meal with your family and can chit chat freely with privacy. Seats are comfortable. Whether you come in 2, 4, 6 or more, you still get your own privately divided room. The food is cooked perfectly and fresh. The flavour is on point. Not overly salted yet you feel the taste is just right where you feel healthy and clean every bite. Tried their dim sums and I would definitely come back to try more of their dishes. I enjoyed every dish. The supervisor advised that their dinner is also worth trying. I over heard the people waiting in line said they had to call 2 weeks in advance to get a reservation. Be sure to call ahead to make reservations.
My family wanted to try this new place and it was during their soft opening. They have a lot of things to work out. The food was hit and miss. For example the beef had cheese inside which is interesting but we believe the cheese tasted like kraft singles. The spare ribs had an odd flavor we believe it was type Of pumpkin they had added to it that threw it off. The staple condiment of mustard was completely a surprise because it tasted like French's yellow mustard. With regards to the service, the staff does need some training, they are inexperience; however, they are nice and we can see they were trying. Hopefully they can get their kinks out during the soft opening
My party of 8 had dinner during their soft opening and opted for the 8 person meal ($888). There is much room for improvement in terms of service and flavour of the food. The appetizers, eel fried rice, steamed fish, and Fujian noodle were the best dishes of the night. The other dishes were mediocre, repetitive in ingredients, and were not served hot. As for service, they really need to train their staff to be more attentive, to split the food for their guests, to change out the plates etc etc that you would expect for a private banquet. While the rooms were intimate and nice, it was difficult to flag down the staff. There is also a washroom which was convenient. Overall, not bad for a soft opening but I would wait for them to sort out the kinks before coming back again.

Dining at Luna Private Banquets is an experience of contrasting extremes. If your metric for a great meal is massive, overflowing plates, you might find yourself underwhelmed here. The portion sizes lean distinctly small and dainty, focusing heavily on delicate presentation and standard, bite-sized dim sum rather than hearty abundance. However, any critique regarding the plate size completely melts away the moment you step out of the common area and into your reservation. The whole private room vibe is absolutely crazy. Luna completely discards the traditional, chaotic, wide-open layout of standard dining halls in favour of a stunning, maze-like "closed design". Each of the enclosed private spaces feels like an exclusive, high-end sanctuary. The sleek, soundproof rooms come loaded with upscale Tang-dynasty-inspired decor, automated lazy Susans, and even high-tech smart toilets in the en-suite washrooms. It completely blocks out the outside world, delivering an intimate, VIP-level energy that is perfect for late-night celebrations. You aren't just paying for the food; you are paying for unmatched privacy and a spectacular atmosphere that you won't find anywhere else in the city read more
High end, beautifully renovated restaurant with many private rooms. I love the space and the service was excellent as well. We came here for dimsum on the weekend, and they allowed reservation. Extra points for that. Their dimsum dishes are generally very good, with a bit of flare and twist. Everything was beautifully presented. This place would be among my top candidates for my next dimsum craving. *The pink rice rolls with deep fried doughs inside is not recommended as the fried dough was tough and rice roll was a bit thick. read more

FOOD: It was ok. I can't believe that the shrimp used in the lotus leaf rice was just frozen shrimp and not the large prawn. At the very least, they should have butterflied it. Golden palace butterflies their shrimp And It's not the frozen type. Also, at least they have some yu choy: the same dish at Luna was very subpar - no vegu, no garlic, and frozen shrimp used. Not worth the price. SERVICE: It was alright. Staff was nice. Hardly anyone spoke cantonese which was funny considering this is cantonese dimsum. I didn't like how stuffy it was in the rooms. Good concept but they NEED to fix their speakers. Another room was have a party or celebration and we heard the entire speech crystal clear. Imagine if there were a wedding and a wake going on at the same time. I'm guessing they can't do 2 functions simultaneously. ATMOSPHERE: Supposedly very high end and private but no button in the rooms means we had to wait for a staff to pop in for any kind of service. It was also very stuffy. RIP to the staff who need to literally run around everywhere. If they're going to be high end, they need to upgrade their HVAC and install service buttons like how they do in Korean restaurants. This did not feel as high end as I expected it to feel considering their advertising. I won't be returning. read more

July 2, 2025 marks the soft opening of Luna Private Banquet. From the time opening the door, the service is amazing. I went back out and saw them opening the door welcoming customers with a friendly smile. The venue is so big and comfortable, with individual rooms where you can have privacy with friends and family. The har gwa is by far in my opinion the best in Toronto. The right size and not too soft. The Luna soup dumpling, the soup was amazing. The Thai style crispy vegetarian chicken was very tasty! I will definitely be back to try other dim sum items and dinner! read more
Came here for Dim Sum with my family on a Sunday Morning. The restaurant is quite nice, each "table" gets its own room. The staff are well presented, dressed very nicely. The food is on the pricey side, but well worth it if you want to enjoy Dim Sum without the chaotic hustle of a traditional Dim Sum restaurant. read more
This place wants to be high end. The decor is nice and everybody gets a private room. But That's all I have to say that's good. First the price of the food is kinda on the low end, that had me worried and rightly so as all the dishes were at best average and maybe even below average As was the Cantonese chow mein, it was below average and comparable to the Mandarin restaurants. It didn't taste authentically Chinese. The noodles underneath the toppings were soaked with sauce and there was no crispy noodles that make a chow mein. Secondly, we made reservations and arrived promptly on time but still had to wait over 50 minutes. Now, I understand if the table that was reserved needed to be cleared but I saw literally 3 groups of guests go in that had the same number of people as us. I guess favouritism for your friends is alive and well at this restaurant But In my opinion, there is no room for that type of behaviour anywhere especially in today's time period. Nevertheless, I won't be back anyways. Service was fast and the decor is nice which is why I upped it to 2 stars Otherwise 1 star for the food And 1 star for the fairness or unfairness at the front. Don't bother coming here unless you know them well, then maybe you will get seated with or without a reservation. No thanks for me I will take my business elsewhere. read more
This is a swanky new Chinese restaurant located at the old Frankie Tomato space. Extensive renovations have made the space unrecognizable from those buffet days. Upon entering you will see a main reception desk and unlike most other Chinese restaurants you won't be able to see the tables as each table is enclosed by 3 partitions making conversation much easier but you do feel enclosed from a more traditional dining experience. The environment seems almost futuristic. Staff walk by frequently so service was actually okay. Prices for food is very much at the higher end. There is no early dim sum prices (ie order before 11 am). We were there for dim sum and it was just okay. Nothing remarkable. The har gow order comes with 5 as opposed to the regular 4. They have a steamed beef ball that had cheese in the middle with a bit of truffle(?) on top? Was meh. I would be curious to see what a dinner experience would be like but first impressions were 'wow' for the environment but 'meh' for the food...at least it was for the dim sum. read more

Made a reservation for 11 am on a Sunday for 11 people. We had a private room with a sitting area and washroom. It look like this restaurant has mostly private rooms. There is a 2 hour time limit for dim sum. The service was got and very attentive as we had a person dedicated to our room. Our food orders came extremely fast. This is to ensure that you finish before the time limit. The dim sum was good. The har gow and siu mai were good as the skin was thin and springy and the typical dim sum dishes were all good. The truffle spring rolls and the seafood tart were excellent. The one item which was not great was that our server spoke mandarin and we spoke Cantonese. Despite us speaking in English to him, he continued to speak to us in mandarin. The other thing was that our server came to push us out 15 minutes before the 2 hour limit. This left a negative mark on this experience. read more

Tried this place for the first time today with my senior parents. We all loved the food and the service was friendly. We will definitely go back again for the food. The seating was also very comfortable and the table is large so you don't have to worry about not enough space for the food. There are individual rooms for the guests to dine in. This is great for private discussions and spending time with your family without busy distractions of a usual chinese restaurant. There's a washroom for men and women on each side of the restaurant. It's a one person washroom for each, but it's clean. read more
