I was unlucky and the only open table had the sun shining hard when the clouds moved and the table was very wobbly so you couldn't lean on it. Located on the 2nd floor of Ward Center, inside The Box Jelly (a coworking space), this hidden gem is the perfect spot to get away from your house or if you need a little change of scenery. Found this gem on yelp and decided to go try it. The cafe is located in Ward Center where there is free parking. I think a lot of cafes on the island are quite small so I was very surprised at how large this cafe was. It looked like you could spend a decent amount of hours here to study without getting kicked out. The ambiance is quiet and peaceful. I particular enjoyed that they also had outdoor seating. I ordered a matcha latte and it was pretty standard. The matcha flavor is present but I wished it was more pronounced. My partner ordered the coffee and it was pretty good but also not the best. Coffee tried. Result, failure. I noticed a few Yelpers post photos and checking in to Try Coffee, and that got me interested. Well, perhaps I'll try again. Try Coffee is located inside Box Jelly, an office/work space for rent place. It's in Ward Village, above the new Roger Dunn Golf Shop. It's not easy to find and get to. Try Coffee is on the second floor. You will see signs hanging from the side above from the parking entrance across Merriman's. There are many 30 minute parking stalls downstairs, so you don't need to drive around and around up the parking structure. From the ground floor parking, you can walk to the middle and take the elevator or escalator up, but I discovered a couple of hidden staircases right before you enter the parking structure. When you arrive, you're asked to stop and scan a QR code to enter your info, but it didn't seem like anyone did that before coming in while I was there. Silly me for following directions and being a caring citizen. The coffee choices at the moment are Papau New Guinea, Peru, and two types of Ethiopia. I chose pour over Papau New Guinea. But it didn't matter what I chose because the coffee was not prepared well at all. It was very weak and under extracted. Not sure if it was due to the coffee grounds being to large or water wasn't hot enough or just not brewed for long enough, but in short, the coffee was sour and watery. Not a good way to start the day! Another issue I had was with the plastic lid, the spout melted a little from the heat and changed shaped to where I couldn't open it correctly and be able to drink from it. Also, the spout was an incredibly small hole that's not suitable for drinking anyway. I hope they switch to something more....user friendly. Other than that, Try Coffee is a nice place to sit and enjoy your drink. It's very open and spacious, and it's open balcony has nice views of all the new condos and future condos in the Ward area. Everywhere is clean and neat. The barista was very friendly, personable, and informative. Very nice guy! He said he'll bring in new, different coffee beans every so often, so it wouldn't be the same coffee from the same regions all the time. Overall, I might be a coffee-snob, but the difference between a well-brewed and a not well-brewed coffee is huge! The coffee missed the mark, and the lid was very subpar, but the service was excellent, the place and environment were comfortable and enjoyable. Definitely a nice place to sit and relax for a bit and enjoy the views of all the condos, and think that not too long ago, none of them existed. I might try Try Coffee again, but perhaps ask to brew it longer or make it stronger. read more

Cool place run by box jelly (they offer membership to their coworking spaces). This little coffee place is cute. Very limited menu, but the outside seating area is awesome! I'm surprised more people weren't here on a Saturday afternoon. The outside space has plenty of tables, plants, succulents. There is a nice view of the fancy/expensive ward village towers. It's a cool place to hang out and get coffee. OMG the DOG! The most adorable fluffy chowchow greeted us at the door. The coffee was good, and they use pono potions for the flavored sugar syrups, which is awesome. I tried their 12oz ice matcha latte with skim milk, not sweetened. Very reasonable price compare to some other coffee shops. But I won't come back. The drink was alright, but I wish the matcha taste could be stronger, used more matcha powder and matcha to milk ratio should be either 1:1 or 1.5:1. But the quality of matcha powder they use is not the good one, there is no bitterness in it. Probably similar to Starbucks kind? Service was alright, there are lots of regulars because baristas acknowledge them by names. I was paying cash and grabbing coins, then cashier probably think I am slow so she went to make coffee instead and no coming back to collect the cash, then when another barista saw me and ask if I order already. Try I have such a soft spot for try coffee because it is so comforting and personable. The barista remembered my name when bringing my order (no table numbers or anything just faces to remember) as well as on my way out, which means so much in today's "coffee shop culture". Not to mention the honey latte was such good quality and decent price for the size in today's economy. The counter to order is in a shared space with box jelly, but the outdoor seating is partially covered which allows for the perfect breeze on a nice day. The view and friendly staff are also a great factor. It's fairly easy to find: park on the 3rd level of Ward Center and it's on the opposite end of where Little Sheep used to be (I believe the sign is Box Jelly?) The place is surprisingly pretty spacious and a great place to study but there is a downside -- I believe you have to pay to use their tables on the weekdays? I'm not sure what the exact logistics are but all I know is that on weekends tables are free to the public so come by then! This is a coffee shop that is in a shared work space called "Box Jelly" which is a coworking, event, private office space for rent, I think it requires a membership. This is a clean, well lit open place filled with a beautiful mix of plants that are well cared for. There are offices indoor and open tables outdoors that offers a great view and fresh air. When you think cafe this place check all the boxes, has a hipster vibe. Everyone is super nice and personable! Great service. Back to the coffee, unlike other places that need to cover their bad coffee with tons of sweeteners and variety of flavor Try coffee provides you one of the best in espresso, cold brew and my favorite pour over. Good prices to go along with great coffee. Range from $3.25 to $5.00 with ADD on's available including Spirulina, super foods and mushroom extract. There are fun flavors to pick from as well, my daughter favors the Lavendar Oatmilk latte while my cousin picks the matcha latte. One of the best coffee shops in all of Honolulu! starting off with the service- the first time I went there was a lady working the front coffee bar register. she was giving off a mean vibe and had face that showed she was not happy to be there helping out customers, so I left. Second time coming 10/10 service- the nice 2 gentlemen working the coffee bar were absolutely helpful and amazing, they gave us some recommendations and brought out the drinks to our table The ambiance is very nice, you get a nice view and with the amazing weather you'll be very relaxed. This place is amazing whether you're there to do some work or catch up with friends! Plenty of free parking available in the building structure. This is a great place to get some work done while enjoying a lovely cup of coffee. There is a good amount of outdoor seating which is great in the current pandemic, and they have a bunch of greenery everywhere which softens what might otherwise be just a view of glass buildings. They have really created a friendly environment, there were even butterflies flitting about as I did my work. Really. All the employees were also very friendly. I just got the manual brew coffee. I'm obsessed! Located on top of Roger Dunn, the cutest coffee shop! The trick is to park on level three so you can walk across straight into the mall and make a right into BoxJelly aka Try Coffee. There's a sign that says, "Try Coffee @ BoxJelly." You can't miss it! Well a select few might... I got their latte which was well balanced. I wish I experimented a little bit and went with the Honey Butter Latte, but I wasn't feeling too adventurous this morning. Next time for sure! On weekends apparently the BoxJelly location is open to the coffee shop so you can sit anywhere inside. I came on a weekday so I was only allowed seating outside which was adorable. While I loved the outdoor seating and plantiful views, it got HOT. The only downfall along with no WIFI. You can get a day pass to BoxJelly and get WIFI that way, but I was only going to be there for an hour before BoxJelly opened so that wasn't an option for me. This place is a hidden gem and a great coffee shop. There is lots of seating indoors and outdoors which provides a great peaceful environment for studying or just relaxing and having a cup of coffee. The coffee itself is delicious. The barista asked us what type of coffee (sweet or bitter) we prefer and then came up with different options to try that I didn't see on the menu. I got the lavender latte with oat milk. (LOVE lavender flavored things). The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about their coffee. The food selection is pretty limited to scones or a few pastries. But I would definitely recommend this place if you just want a caffeine pick-me-up and a nice place to sit without all the noise of your typical coffee shops. Also the bathrooms inside were very clean and unique. That's always a plus! We enjoyed this place so much that we actually came back the very next day. Definitely a new go to place! read more

This little gem of a cafe has quickly become my favorite spot! Each time I've visited, I've ordered the Barista's choice and it has yet to disappoint. Today it was...Garlic Chicken. They use grass-fed butter and local honey... omg. So, so good. Definitely ask about their rotating "barista's choice" for example, today it was macadamia nut honey flavor. They also serve several flavors of Droplet, a stress-balancing juice. I tried the "Pretty Happy" one that tastes like passion fruit and vanilla bean. The space outside the cafe is open to the public, there is seating in the sun or in the shade. Even if you sit in the sunny tables, they have 2 cool-air gizmos to keep you from burning up! The inside tables and long tables outside are reserved for members who rent office space here. Love this idea. Many people bring their adorable doggos in. I've seen a pug, a mini greyhound and a ridiculously adorable blue colored Frenchie. Lots of plants all around, and it's relatively quiet for being in the heart of Honolulu. Located on the second floor of Ward Village. The parking structure is a bit of a crunch, but it wasn't too bad. The view is incredible and the interior is really nice!
