Trying Try Coffee for the first time in a half-year. They are situated in Ward Center ( which may very well end up like Ward Warehouse ) where there is a dedicated parking garage. About the parking garage: it is a trial navigating and parking inside as it has a very low ceiling and turns that have a difficult sight line. Then it is trying and taxing just to get into the shopping center...from stairs leading to a sub-level to elevators that try your patience. Then you take a creaky elevator. The trifecta from Hell. They have the usual cafe offerings; espresso bar drinks to pour overs. I believe I've had an espresso, iced matcha, and a cortado...a nice trio, as I recall. It is situated within a co-working space. There is a cool, scenic lanai for lunch meetings and coffee trysts. I tried visiting the other day but they close a it early at 1:30p.
Refreshing beverage at Ward Centre in Honolulu, Hawaii... Located on the third level, Try Coffee is an interesting shop. There's a shared workspace area that seems to be for members. Regular customers can sit outside on the patio. I needed air-conditioning, so I sat near the barista/cashier. The barista was very good! When I ordered a non-dairy matcha Latte, she gave me to option of oat or soy milk and asked if I needed sweetener... yes, please! She then asked if I wanted it hot or iced... iced, please She also asked if my order was for here or "to go". I asked if there was a restroom nearby... yes! Okay, I can stay then! My matcha Latte was just right! It wasn't too bitter nor too sweet! I'll be back if I'm in the area again because it was an efficient system with free parking and great menu selections!
Finally giving it a try... On this lazy Sunday morning I like a place to relax and just catch up on things and with some places that are filled to capacity I thought to finally go up to Try Coffee and see what I've been missing out on. Located in Ward Center on the second level above the Rodger Dunn Golf sharing space with Box Jelly is where you'll find them but if you're using the elevator to get up here be sure to go up to level three as the levels are for parking and not the shopping area. The vibe here is just so nice and welcoming as I look through the many items on the menu which majority is coffee they do have great tea selections as well as you know I had to give their Matcha Latte a try with Oatmilk and Soy as their alternative choices it was Soy and did find it okay as it was nice and light. Lots of seating area all are outdoors with a slight roof to shade some of the seating which I did manage to find and enjoyed the nice Hawaiian breeze and is nice that I was able to bring outdoor foods to enjoy as well and did so with my Ajitama that I just picked up down the street. It's a shame that they do close early weekends is 3pm and weekdays 1pm as I could see myself getting a lot done since it's such a chill outdoorsy spot not a lot of talking as many are working as well it's sort of a simplistic vibe and nothing better on this Sunday afternoon. Thank you!
My coffee buddy Yelp Elite extraordinaire aka Prolific Yelp Elite and recently an All Star designation friend and I met at Try Coffee located at Ward Center. If you park in the structure go up to level 3 A and walk to your far right to find this venue. Their banana bread slice heated up is worth making a stop here, perfectly made with a toasted crispy outer edge, yum! Thankyou for treating me to a large Matcha Latte, Jackie K. Beautiful deep green color with a barista's pretty design added on top was brought to our table with a full on chessboard and pieces already on it. We enjoyed catching up exactly two hours when the speaker began blasting music a few feet from my ear at 12 noon. That was the signal to say au revoir .
I love TryCoffee. TK and Ariel, the dream team or TryCoffee are great. Every morning there's the same bunch of coffee regulars. There is a wonderful selection of pour overs which doesn't last very long on their shelf but that means u get to try another coffee roaster all the time and that they usually don't order a lot and have a rather large following. I belong to the monthly subscription. At least then I'm guaranteed some great coffee selections even some higher end brews. This place gets so busy that at times they run out of coffee for pour overs. But it's ok...I honestly wish they would have more food options though. At least there is Talis bagels downstairs, holy grails, and Whole Foods across the street. It will be one sad day once ward center closes down and try coffee has to find a new home. Hopefully they can find a space close by.
Hands down, the best coffee on Oahu. If you're staying in Waikiki, take the 12-minute Uber or walk the 40 minutes it'll take to get there. I guarantee it's good. A couple things you have to keep in mind. Try Coffee is about coffee, not drinks. If you want that lilikoi puff float with sweet and condensed macadamia nut nonsense, then do not come here. That is not coffee. That is sugar. And you're better off at the hotel coffee shop than a place of quality. TK is the owner and is super nice. He's been in the industry for a while and he knows his coffee. If you're nice enough and has time, he'll have a conversation with you and give you a great experience. Daniel is also solid. He makes a great flat white and has been in the food industry for a long time. The rest of the team is just as solid. Super nice and incredibly knowledgeable. Try Coffee has built a staff you don't often find on island. They have rotating beans from coffee shops all over the world. TK had me try one of the most expensive coffees I never thought I would experience from Hydrangea Coffee Roasters based out in Berkeley, CA. It was funky and bright with floral and pineapple notes, along with a slight cognac undertone. Basically, it was a cup that was so complex it made me question my existence. And I can thank Try Coffee for that experience. The outdoor seating is nice, but here in Hawaii it can be brutal, so try to get something with shade. There are a lot of seating options. It's cute. Outdoors. They have plants and they have pop-up shades. It also shares the space with a shared workspace, so a lot of people are having meetings, working, and just hanging out. I've never felt these groups have interrupted my experience, which is what I'm looking for in a coffee shop. Overall, I give Try Coffee 7/5 stars. Anyone that says different can buy me a cup of coffee here and we can discuss your arguments otherwise. You won't win though *wink*
I had no idea there was a coffee shop here lol it is hidden above fat cheeks. They are a cute place with a huge space to chill and hangout in. The balcony area is sooo spacious. The coffee menu was alright for me, not that much choices to choose from or any signature drinks. You basically put together what you want lol I got an Mac nut coconut iced latte. The drink was good. The service was good. Very friendly.
Not the most well known coffee shop in the area. Might be worth the effort if you want to get some quality quiet time. Try Coffee is situated in share work space at the end of the second floor of the Ward Center. It's open to all but mostly serve the members of the work space. The nice thing of it all is that they have an open air seating area on the balcony.
Checked this place out as a part of my search for the perfect wfh coffee shops. I'm hesitantly giving it a 4/5 and might not come back:( Main reason being there is no wifi and closes quite early (1PM) + Space: The space for the coffee shop is outside patio only, which I didn't mind because the space is very pretty and nice on a good sunny day. There are 1-2 charging plugs. Parking is free at the structure for the building. As mentioned, there is no wifi. The barista is nice. + Drink: I got the Iced Latte and it was 4/5. Slightly watered down taste but the coffee itself is good. Reasonably priced at $6.5. My friend said her black coffee was good.
On the hunt for the best matcha on island and this isn't even close. Matcha tastes similar to the culinary grade Ito En from Costco. Ironically I did not try the coffee, but as for the matcha, wouldn't recommend. The barista was very nice though. 5 stars for him.
My hubby and I were in the mood to try something new so we Yelped it and came across this place. Because it was early Saturday morning, it was not a problem finding parking. The barista was sweet but I was not overly excited about the menu selection. My better half ordered a Red Eye and I had a mocha with a toasted slice of banana bread. I don't know what I was expecting but having a bag of Miracle Grow plant soil next to the table and other tables with potting-in-progress was okay, I guess. Since it appeared that the barista was the only person working, I really didn't expect much - she was quite busy filling orders. I've got to say that I really enjoyed the slight crunchiness of the banana bread. My hubby and I agreed that the coffee was nothing to write home about. Although my hubby is a dark roast fan, he said that the coffee tasted burnt. As a light roast person, I'm glad that I asked for a mocha - I don't think that could have finished my small drink. Honestly, was a share office space, it seems convenient and great idea to have the coffee bar. But, if you are looking for a more coffee cafe experience I'm sure that there are other choices.
The coffee taste out of ordinary, strong aroma, and I ordered cold brew coffee. TK barista has an amazing knowledge of coffee. I love talking about coffee. Great location, beautiful ambience.
Great coffee spot tucked inside the Ala Moana Boulevard mall, their views are amazing. Ambience is amazing with plants inside and outside too, if it's plants and coffee--feels like I'm in heaven, this one hits right at that spot. Loved my coffee too, I island brewed bean latte and enjoyed my cuppa. There's lot of seating inside too, but sitting on their deck is the best way to look at the views. Spotted a green lizard too, can't say it's beautiful but the colors on it were amazing.

Cool place run by box jelly (they offer membership to their coworking spaces). This little coffee place is cute. Very limited menu, but the outside seating area is awesome! I'm surprised more people weren't here on a Saturday afternoon. The outside space has plenty of tables, plants, succulents. There is a nice view of the fancy/expensive ward village towers. It's a cool place to hang out and get coffee. OMG the DOG! The most adorable fluffy chowchow greeted us at the door. The coffee was good, and they use pono potions for the flavored sugar syrups, which is awesome. I have some at home :) I'd be back, especially if I'm shopping around ward and don't need to park in the lot here. read more

Loved the ambience of the place, as you can see in the pictures , the place is beautiful. The service is great! I do however wish they had more options for drinks and also that they had food. Other than that everything else was fine (: read more

Found this gem on yelp and decided to go try it. The cafe is located in Ward Center where there is free parking. I think a lot of cafes on the island are quite small so I was very surprised at how large this cafe was. It looked like you could spend a decent amount of hours here to study without getting kicked out. The ambiance is quiet and peaceful. I particular enjoyed that they also had outdoor seating. I ordered a matcha latte and it was pretty standard. The matcha flavor is present but I wished it was more pronounced. My partner ordered the coffee and it was pretty good but also not the best. In conclusion, I think this would be a great place to catch up with friends and do work at. read more

Loved this spot! Wanted a calm spot to read and enjoy a coffee. Loved the vibe- tons of spaces to work. I sat outside and had a hot latte. It was delicious and actually super beautiful! The spot was quiet and calm and had a nice playlist that didn't distract but you could still enjoy. read more

I've been wanting to ~try~ this place out for a while hehe. They have a pretty simple coffee menu, but have a few syrup flavorings to spice up any drink :) I got an iced vanilla latte with oatmilk ~ It wasn't very strong; I think the oatmilk really overpowered the espresso imo, but still good. Maybe i'll ask for an extra shot next time? hmmm I came on a Friday morning around 11 am & it was pretty chill & quiet with lots of tables open. I loved sitting outdoors on the patio - every seat is in the shade ~ great atmosphere & views! They also bring your drink out to you which is nice! read more

The cortado I had was very good and it came out quick! I chose this spot to try for my random week day off work to read since the photos of the outdoor seating looked so nice. I was unlucky and the only open table had the sun shining hard when the clouds moved and the table was very wobbly so you couldn't lean on it. The place was packed by college study groups and people having meetings. I'd like to come back and try their other coffee drinks and hopefully get a better seat! read more
Located above Roger dunn. Where Inferno pizza used to be, next to Ryan's. Second floor of Ward Centre. Lots of parking. Nice, relaxing place with a view of Merriman. People were already doing conputer work at 8 am. Local version of Starbucks in that aspect. Local cafe with a small coffee menu. Got the iced cold brew with vanilla syrup and an iced mocha. Tasted good. Coffee and service was excellent. read more

I have been in Honolulu for two weeks and have tried a different coffee shop almost every day that I have been here. Try Coffee is by far the best coffee I have had. The baristas are very knowledgeable and friendly. I would definitely recommend Try Coffee if you consider yourself a coffee snob and aren't a huge fan of the darker roasts. The space is really great as well. Lot's of comfortable seating. read more

It's the cute dogs for me!!! What a plus that it's pet-friendly because you get to meet such cutie pies while sipping on your coffee and sammiches. The view and friendly staff are also a great factor. It's fairly easy to find: park on the 3rd level of Ward Center and it's on the opposite end of where Little Sheep used to be (I believe the sign is Box Jelly?) The place is surprisingly pretty spacious and a great place to study but there is a downside -- I believe you have to pay to use their tables on the weekdays? I'm not sure what the exact logistics are but all I know is that on weekends tables are free to the public so come by then! They do fill up fast so I recommend coming early like opening time read more

My fav coffee shop on the island. Great baristas, perfect atmosphere, and the best dang coffee. I try to come here on my weekends off to enjoy a cup on the outdoor seating. You're surrounded by plants and butterflies. It's just such a peaceful little spot in the heart of Ward. The indoor seating also has tasteful decor and paintings. Definitely a better spot for the rainy days, since the outdoor seating doesn't have good cover (especially if it's windy). Their cold brew is amazing! One of my favs - def a must for coffee lovers. I also love to order my cappuccino from them - they make it perfectly every time. I've seen their IG stories where they showcase what coffee beans they're loving/trying out for their manual brews. The owner is really passionate about coffee and it definitely shows. They also give great coffee recommendations depending on your taste! This is the main coffee shop I choose to spend my time at. Good for a peaceful morning, catching up with a friend, or to get some work done. read more

Wanted to get some writing done, but couldn't handle being pent up in my apartment any longer. So I ventured here to scope out the situation. Try Coffee is inside of the new Box Jelly. Plenty of free parking available in the building structure. This is a great place to get some work done while enjoying a lovely cup of coffee. There is a good amount of outdoor seating which is great in the current pandemic, and they have a bunch of greenery everywhere which softens what might otherwise be just a view of glass buildings. They have really created a friendly environment, there were even butterflies flitting about as I did my work. Really. All the employees were also very friendly. I just got the manual brew coffee. It was smooth, and well balanced. I will definitely be back! read more

I'm obsessed! Located on top of Roger Dunn, the cutest coffee shop! The trick is to park on level three so you can walk across straight into the mall and make a right into BoxJelly aka Try Coffee. There's a sign that says, "Try Coffee @ BoxJelly." You can't miss it! Well a select few might... I got their latte which was well balanced. I wish I experimented a little bit and went with the Honey Butter Latte, but I wasn't feeling too adventurous this morning. Next time for sure! On weekends apparently the BoxJelly location is open to the coffee shop so you can sit anywhere inside. I came on a weekday so I was only allowed seating outside which was adorable. While I loved the outdoor seating and plantiful views, it got HOT. The only downfall along with no WIFI. You can get a day pass to BoxJelly and get WIFI that way, but I was only going to be there for an hour before BoxJelly opened so that wasn't an option for me. Still, the views, vibes, and lovely coffee made for an excellent experience and I look forward to my next trip to Try Coffee! :) read more

This place is a hidden gem and a great coffee shop. There is lots of seating indoors and outdoors which provides a great peaceful environment for studying or just relaxing and having a cup of coffee. The coffee itself is delicious. The barista asked us what type of coffee (sweet or bitter) we prefer and then came up with different options to try that I didn't see on the menu. I got the lavender latte with oat milk. (LOVE lavender flavored things). The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about their coffee. The food selection is pretty limited to scones or a few pastries. But I would definitely recommend this place if you just want a caffeine pick-me-up and a nice place to sit without all the noise of your typical coffee shops. Also the bathrooms inside were very clean and unique. That's always a plus! We enjoyed this place so much that we actually came back the very next day. Definitely a new go to place! read more

Discovered this cute lil coffee shop inside Ward Center on the 3rd floor. This is where the old Brew Moon used to be. Definitely a hidden gem!! The baristas especially Jarin were very friendly and helpful, had a great time talking with them. Ordered a matcha latte and it was poured beautifully. Instagram story worthy for sure, can't wait to try more of their drinks. The vibes are immaculate and it was very enjoyable sitting outside on the patio. The prices are very moderate and reasonably priced. Check them out! read more
This little gem of a cafe has quickly become my favorite spot! Each time I've visited, I've ordered the Barista's choice and it has yet to disappoint. Today it was...Garlic Chicken. Yes...as in Garlic Mochiko Chicken but as weird as it sounds, the concoction was a molecular gastronomy trick (trip?) for the senses. Apparently honey & ginger + coffee does a number on our synapses and the result? An intriguing brain trip! I sure hope the talented baristas keep upping their game since this place has got to be one of the coolest spots to go and enjoy a cuppa. Oh, and if your tastes lean more toward the traditional, their regular coffee is also fantastic. They will ask for your preference then pair you with the perfect cuppa. Almost forgot to mention the scones! Perfectly buttery and amazing...today it was kabocha bacon or rosemary sundried tomato & mushroom. read more
Finally a much much needed legit coffee shop has decided to open up in Ward Village. It is called Try Coffee! Try coffee is located on 2nd floor of Ward Center overlooking Ward Village Auahi Street. Try coffee shares an amazing outdoor space with Box Jelly (membership based co-working spaces). Lattes are amazing. Top quality with a creative latte art. Variety of different coffee selection are available daily (usually 3-4) which makes a great option for their strong and flavorful pour over coffee. Menu is small but they have recently partnered up with Piggy Smalls to offer limited variety of small grubs (currently pastries, salads and sandwiches). Owner/barista is super friendly and definitely knows his stuff. Lots of free parking spots is available in Ward Center parking structure. read more

Located on the 2nd floor of Ward Village (next to where Ryan's used to be) this is our favorite spot for espresso. I've been hooked on the honey butter latte. They use grass-fed butter and local honey... omg. So, so good. Definitely ask about their rotating "barista's choice" for example, today it was macadamia nut honey flavor. They also serve several flavors of Droplet, a stress-balancing juice. I tried the "Pretty Happy" one that tastes like passion fruit and vanilla bean. The space outside the cafe is open to the public, there is seating in the sun or in the shade. Even if you sit in the sunny tables, they have 2 cool-air gizmos to keep you from burning up! The inside tables and long tables outside are reserved for members who rent office space here. Love this idea. Many people bring their adorable doggos in. I've seen a pug, a mini greyhound and a ridiculously adorable blue colored Frenchie. Lots of plants all around, and it's relatively quiet for being in the heart of Honolulu. Highly recommend this cafe. read more

This coffee spot located in the heart of ward is the ideal study / work spot. They offer simple cafe-style drinks with a limited menu. I got the iced matcha latte and my boyfriend got the iced latte. Both drinks were simple and reasonably priced. They have indoor and outdoor seating; however, the doors to the outdoor seating area was wide open so the space felt bigger and more inclusive. Whether you are a student looking for a quiet cafe to study at, or an employee looking to get out of the office for some fresh air and coffee, Try coffee is the place to go. read more

Saw this new coffee shop up at Ward, very quiet on a Saturday morning. We tried our standards across all the coffee shops - a single shot espresso with a kiss of foam (aka macchiato) & a cappuccino. Also ordered a U'lu cacao nib cookie. Cookie was delish, very nutty & fruity taste, just the right amount of sweetness. Coffee unfortunately even though art latte was nice was bitter and acidic. That's too bad, the atmosphere is very nice to sit and enjoy the morning. Service was good but coffee is just lacking. read more

Located on the second floor of Ward Village. The parking structure is a bit of a crunch, but it wasn't too bad. The view is incredible and the interior is really nice! You can sit indoors or outdoors, your choice. Wasn't in the mood for a hot coffee so we got an iced oat milk latte. Simple, but still really good. The bread pudding was nice a touch. After eating, you just return your dishes in this black tray and go about your day. Really nice spot to study, work, or talk stories :) read more
