The atmosphere is family-friendly. They are open to suggestions - I have a 40+ professional nursing career:) I am grateful for the individualized approach and the quick response to any changes they notice, so I can take action and get the care needed. The small population at 5 Acers means nothing goes unnoticed for long. This unique environment is a true blessing for our family.

Your fliers were put out on Facebook at the perfect time, and gave wonder for details about times. When I arrived there with my 12-year-old, and seven-year-old, we were welcomed by wonder woman and other staff members with fresh made popcorn, drinks, and directions on how visit all the residents. It was wonderful to see the residents sitting outside with baskets full of candy as we walked by. They all met us with warm smiles and welcomes and I know they enjoyed us there as much as we enjoyed visiting. I grabbed a business card and have plans to take my children back to volunteer in the near future. Rather than just taking on Halloween, my children both saw people Who would not be able to see trick-or-treaters smiling and happy to See us. Can't wait to see you all soon and maybe stop by at Christmas to sing some songs... It might be a bit off key though!

Great to work with an organization that enables all of the involved care-givers and key family members to present a unified team during those tough moments that require calm and an integrated plan. Management is poor and discrimination is a thing. I stayed with my mom 24/7 and some of the staff were cruel with me while others were angels. My mom's mobility required 2 persons which I was one of them doing it with complete love. However, I was mistreated by management through passive aggression including verbal insults. The center refused to allow my mom additional days of therapy because the nurse director "did not like me and my sick mom".

I googled Hospice and came across MD Choice that had some good reviews. I had no idea who I was calling but there had to have been some divine intervention pushing me to this call and this company. After a few questions I received a call from Dr De Leon who was the most compassionate and caring doctor I have come across. He sensed my immediate need, came straight out to the house, assessed my mother and went himself to the pharmacy to pick up the needed medications. He knew the urgency and took it upon himself to do all the footwork. He obtained the needed comfort medication, stabilized my mother and allowed my mother to pass peacefully all within a matter of hours from making that initial call. When she did pass that evening, he again, arranged for everything from the pronouncing to the calls according to the pre-arrangements. Without MD Choice and the connection with Dr De Leon, I don't know how I would have been able to handle the situation. His immediate response on a Sunday, his Taking control of the situation and quick actions made such a difference in the final few hours my mother had. If you find yourself in a situation like this and needing someone to help in this time, I highly recommend MD Choice and Dr De Leon. I am forever grateful to MD Choice and Dr De Leon for acting so quickly and with such caring and love in this terrible time of need. Cheryl, the RN Case Manager, in particular, was a godsend. It was a huge relief to be able to rely on them so thoroughly from day one. They delivered everything we needed within hours of getting the paperwork done; and both Cheryl and an aide were there for the last few hours my brother was alive--providing support and care. My dad is able to get himself in his wheelchair to go tot he bathroom or get a snack out of the refrigerator. Most of the time he is happy resting in bed. The one time he fell my sister was at home. He didn't realize his legs would simply give out under him. Hence the wheelchair now. It seems like spite investigating my sister and it's causing stress for my father. The whole thing could have been prevented but she seems to want to have a p----ing match with my sister. So unprofessional So now my dad is trying to find another option through his primary physician. Not what he needs to be doing. He should be peacefully resting right now! They can't just offer peaceful resolutions?? So disappointing The nurses are wonderful. But Ernestine has been hassling my sister from the beginning. About 6 weeks ago.

They got along great and she would read to Mom and had a guitar and she played for her. They had a really good thing going on and it was really comforting to my mom... If you have ever had to go through the process of finding suitable care for a loved one then you already know what a nightmare that can be. Their are facility owners who highly exaggerate their level of care, unqualified staff and unsuitable living conditions not to mention abuse. After several disastrous and dangerous attempts at placements for my Great Aunt and Mother, God blessed our family with Genesis Care Home for The Elderly in Vallejo. My Great Aunt was in her late 90's and my Mother suffered from Vascular Dementia. We had removed them from an unsuitable care facility and moved them right into Genesis Care Home after just one meeting with Sharon, the owner. After what my Mom and Aunt had been through, I was very direct in telling Sharon what level of care we were looking for and Sharon was equally honest and forthcoming about the level of care she provided and her philosophy on the care for the elderly. Let me start with the word Compassion. No matter how disoriented, difficult or delusional my mother or aunt became, the entire staff always remained compassionate, respectful and loving. The staff came into their rooms with a smile and spent many hours just laughing and talking with them. They took the time to ask them questions about their lives and treated them like family. My Mom even gave them each nicknames. We are a very large family who would drop by all the time unannounced and always Mom and Auntie were clean, bathed and very well fed. The food that was prepared for them was spectacular....and I'm a retired Caterer! Anytime of the day, the residents can help themselves to snacks or fresh fruit. During the Holidays and their birthdays the spread they put out is unbelievable and all family members are not only welcomed but encouraged to stay and join in. Genesis actually took the time to find out what my Moms favorite foods and T.V. programs were and made sure both were provided. The staff regularly took the time to call and express their concerns over medications, behavioral changes or their general happiness and comfort so as a team, we could make whatever adjustments were necessary to make their daily lives better. Both my Aunt and Mom have passed now, but I will continue to stop by for a visit to Genesis Care Home, to visit this very special place, and this group of phenomenal ladies.
