VMC's response makes very little sense. I understand that respite stays are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, which is why I specifically asked about availability in the coming months. Your response suggests a lack of understanding of what a respite stay is and the purpose it serves. Families who rely on respite care often need to plan well in advance. While I am not asking you to guarantee availability, I am asking whether there is any upcoming anticipated availability so I can be the "first to be served" and can make informed plans. read more

I toured here just the other day with Tasha. She was so helpful & knowledgeable. I love that she really cared about my Dad & asked what he liked & what I wanted for him. No just a sales pitch but really asked about him as person. I really loved the backyards & how they all touch and converge. Feels like it's more open and free. My dad can take his dog on a walk and visit other houses. The houses are big but there was not much decoration. Kind of felt empty. No little Nick Nacks or cushions & pillows in the bay windows. Nothing to make it feel homey. Everything was clean just maybe too modern. There was not much going on in the first house, just a tv program on, no music & nothing else happening but the second house had an activity and it seemed livelier. But only 3 people were doing the craft. I really loved the friendly staff. I met some directors. Jamie directs the care was super funny & had such a great spirit. I would like my Dad to move here this summer. I know that Tasha and the other staff really work hands on and believe in their place. I love the communication we got and the open door policy. I feel like it's a great fit for someone like my dad who still wants to have some freedom but be safe. read more

My Dad lived here for 6 or 7 years prior to his death there. Truth is, they didn't watch him closely at all and he fell in his room, broke his hip, and died 4 days later there. We weren't the only family that this happened to either. Management staffs the houses at 'bare minimum' level and the actual care that your loved one gets is minimal. This place is a corporate profit center at your loved one's expense. You are better off caring for your own family member than boarding them here. IF YOU LOVE YOUR PERSON, PLEASE DO NOT PLACE THEM AT PACIFICA. This was absolutely the worst decision of my life and it cost my father his life. It is all smoke and mirrors. It is a pig wearing lipstick. They house residents and do not care for them. My father was left dirty, the care providers forced their will on him rather than talk to him and help him understand what they were doing, he lost 32 lbs in 38 days and they told the drs he was doing fine and eating well. The administration was dismissive when issues were brought. My father and family were treated as nuisances. Please do NOT place your family here. I cannot bring my dad back, and he died because of the poor treatment and dismissed concerns. The care of your loved one ends when you write your first check. read more

Lovely and wonderful staff. Caring and lots of activities and events.

We had my father here for 7 days. Before his placement, the office staff (Savannah and Krystal) were very responsive and "caring"...obviously to get the contract signed and have our payment. Within 5 days, my father fell and was sent by ambulance to the Kaiser ER with a contusion on his forehead. No one ever clarified how he fell. Two days later, he was hospitalized and has not returned. For 10 days, no one from this "care" facility has cared to call and check on my dad's health. My dad is now going into Hospice. While Pacifica stated they have Hospice care to Kaiser, they inferred to us that he will not be a candidate to return. My mom went to get his belongings today, even though we have a paid room. We wanted his things safe. While he was there, another resident would walk into his room and sleep on his bed daily! They just called Kaiser to say he has "moved out", then said the conversation was over when we asked for a refund of days not used if they say he is out. Overall, if you want this poor care for your family member, go to Pacifica in Vacaville. They are responsive and caring until they don't need to be anymore! Shameful!!! Note! Do not place your loved one in this facility. My neighbor has been there for a few years and the care continues to decline. Most of the staff try to do their job but the morale is just getting worse. They are paid minimum wages and no raises are given for excellent performance and longevity. The turnover is so high due to working conditions and the need for staff to work 2 jobs to support their families. There is not enough staffing in the cottages to monitor residents who are increasingly confused and unsteady on their feet. The State Dept. of Licensing has been out there numerous times in response due to staffing and safety family complaints. All Pacifica cares about is corporate profits, not resident and staff safety and support. The employees at Walmart earn more than their staff who care for your loved ones. read more

The staff and administrators at Pacifica Senior Living are wonderful! During this COVID-19 crisis they have continued to ensure that our loved ones health happiness and safety is priority number one! While I wish my mom would never have developed dementia, after much research we chose this memory care facility and they have been wonderful! Such caring individuals and very helpful throughout this process. Turnover is a challenge in this industry, but Melody Allmond the ED, the staff in Pappas House including Carmen and Aida, are very knowledgeable and caring. read more

My mother Dorothy has been at Pacifica Vacaville for over 2 years now. It was such a difficult decision to move her from my home and care to Pappas house. It is one of the 5 cottages at Pacifica. The guilt was overwhelming at first, but then I realized she's really happy there. The caregivers at Pappas treat the residents like their own family! Dorothy has been deaf her entire life and I was concerned that she would have trouble communicating with the staff but they go out of their way to speak slowly so she can read their lips. Dorothy and her room never smells (even though she's incontinent now do to her dementia) she is always dressed nice and smiling! I LOVE HER CAREGIVERS!! Carmen, Maryann, Ida, Lilly, Neela and her med-techs. I just read a yelp review about someone passing and the family didn't like the way Josephine handled the refund. I must say this really surprises me. I had to deal with a late fee( it was my fault that I forgot to pay until after the due date) Josephine couldn't have been nicer and corrected the problem for me. She is a really sweet person. You'll see if you ever meet her! When Pacifica took over for Courtside cottages there have been some issues but there is a new director there Val and I feel that she's going to make the cottages great again. Every place will have some issues but when you have great caregivers that's what counts! Thanks for making this difficult time of dementia bearable. read more

DO NOT PLACE YOUR LOVED ONE THERE! There is not enough staff per house to safely take care of the residents. My dad was steady on his feet and didn't use any walker or cane, but yet he had " un observed falls" landing him in the hospital several times in 9 months. He died yesterday from 2 broken ribs, skin tears on his arms, scrapes on his knees, a large bump on the base of his head, and a broken nose resulting in a nosebleed that never stopped. Ummm, something terrible is going on there! Appropriate action and reports have been made. THEN, my sister and I went to talk to THE MANAGER, BRYCE SAXTON. HE IS A SORRY SOB! He came out of his office with a smirk on his face never said he was sorry for our loss--Nothing! The last thing out of his mouth was " anything else?" No compassion for anything. This place is amazing. They care for their residents. I visit other location prior to Pacifica and nothing can compare to them. Their residents look happy clean. THIS PLACE SMEELLS GOOD. Several places I visit there was a strong smell of pee but this place smell clean. read more

I moved my mother to this facility in 2006 after looking at many other places. This was at the time the answer to my prayers to keep my mother safe and sound as Alzhiemers had entered our lives. I have always felt that it is the staff that makes all the difference in the world no matter what facility you place a loved one in. Combined with a staff that have always made me feel like they treat my mother as if she were their own parent, and the homey feel of each house , it is the closet thing to a family home I think one could find in this area. I feel my mom is safe, and loved at Courtside Cottages. read more

The caring staff is good. However, the office administration is not. My mother passed away on 3-20. The caring staff told us they would take care of Mom's things and not to worry about them that they would donate them. We went to the office on 3-22 to look into a refund for the remainder of the month that had already been paid. Told Josephine, who runs the office what the staff had told us. She said she would back date the refund to the 21st. We get the refund -- you guessed it. When we asked Josephine about it, she told us that she did not promise anything. We questioned her - but never heard back from her. First lied to us and then just ignored us. What a way to do business. And customer service - well. Think twice before you put your loved one here. And to top it off - they lost my mother's antique rocking chair -- and would not reimburse us for losing it! read more

My mom has lived at Courtside Cottages since the first day it opened in June 2003. When she first came to Courtside Cottages she was in the early/middle stage of dementia. This has been a long journey for both of us. I say "us" because we are all affected by our loved one's dementia. Through it all the staff and caregivers have been there step by step with us and without all their help, care, and support we would not have made it this far. I know she is getting the best care possible and that she is loved by all her caregivers. read more

If you care at all for the person you are thinking of placing into a full care facility, DO NOT LET THEM STAY ONE DAY AT COURTSIDE COTTAGES. The executive director, Joy Carter only cares about the bottom line and not the patients or the staff. If you visit Courtside, pay attention to two things; notice that not one patient is wearing glasses or hearing aids (both of which are important stimulus for dementia patients); also, notice that not one patient is involved in any kind of activities (walking, arts and crafts, etc.). All Courtside wants to do is medicate the patients so heavily, they do not have to take care of them and their is no quality of life. Michelle, the LVN, was over medicating my father until my mother and I caught the error. We have removed my father and if your loved one is staying at Courtside, I highly recommend you do the same. I feel very sorry for the people who are staying there now. read more
