Location, location, location. The Truman Hotel is located just off Duvall Street. For those first timers to Key West Duvall St. is where 90% of the Key West action is at. Parking is included with your stay. While the hotel is within walking distance of the fun, there's a quiet pool courtyard area that's really peaceful. You can forget you are so close to the hustle and bustle. The rooms are a bit small, but the beds are comfortable. If Covid concerns are your thing the hotel staff is taking it seriously. Only one of us was allowed in the office at check in. The hotel advertised a light continental breakfast, but there was none. Presumably Covid. A quaint comfortable hotel in a great spot.

When I was looking for a place to stay in Key West during a busy season, this seemed like the most affordable, good quality option relatively close to all the nightlife and shops - but it was much nicer than I expected! First, the staff were professional and the people who worked the poolside bar for free breakfast and free happy hour were super friendly. (Remember to tip them!) Next, the courtyard vibe with the pool in the center created a really awesome oasis away from the fun chaos on Duval street (see picture). That said, it was super convenient having restaurants and a CVS a stone's throw away, and then getting to the heart of all the action in a short walk. Will definitely return to Key West and the Truman Hotel again!

Called the manager several times and left several messages for Barbara and her alternate Zachary. No response

We stayed in room 212 the second week of July 2021. Great location and the staff are nice. The room quality however is devastating. I have tried reaching out to the management several times but no response. So I don't have any choice but to write this review. I have called the main number 305 296 6700 several times and left several messages with Barbara and Zachary. No response. There were ants in the room that swarmed small drops of infant formula. Their fix was to spray pesticide while we were in the room. I told them please don't do so since we have a baby in the room The light switch leading to the room doesn't work. They did not fix it during our stay. It turns on just fine but does not turn off. Finally the coffee machine was a plastic cuisine art. It didn't work either. They replaced it within an hour but still a bad look for a luxury hotel. The front desk is one person. He or she is nice. They try and help but are hand tied because their manager is never on site - one even said that Barbara was on vacation and they do not know when she will be back. All in all, not worth $300/night you will pay to stay here. I would equate this to a Motel 6 or Red Roof in with nicer linens. I would not have minded if it cost $100-$200 but for a room that costs about a $2000 a week you'd expect a much better experience. Don't stay here and pay full price. I might consider staying here if you get a deal and don't mind a few bugs.

This was the best place out of our hotel experiences in Florida. Newly renovated, the apartments feel sparkling clean and have high ceilings giving a sense of spaciousness. Each apartment has an outside private veranda with furniture adding a homey touch. The pool is heated for an awesome evening swim. Adequate and extra towels towels in the closet, every detail has been thought through and added plus, breakfast is included.

So close to the action but you'd never know from inside this peaceful sanctuary. Rooms were updated and clean with modern features. The pool was heavenly surrounded by palms. We enjoyed it both evenings of our short stay because it was just so inviting and relaxing. We had a perfect stay. Plenty of parking in the garage under the building. We'll definitely return.

Love it, it's my 2nd visit No bar tho And no wine and cheese happy hour :( Close to Duval

Awesome new hotel. Stayed here for two nights over Easter break. Beautiful and hip courtyard with pool. Paid $219+tax, two double beds. Cons: Not much "life" at the hotel, didn't really see or interact with other guests. No hot tub. Pros: Free parking. Great pool and lounge chairs. New rooms, amazing shower. Front desk woman was very helpful with suggestions.

We had such a lovely time at the Truman. We were a little apprehensive about staying so close to Duval with our (albeit fun-loving) toddler and 10 month old, but the Truman's location and attention to detail placed them in the top 5 hotels we've ever visited! It was the perfect distance to walk to local restaurants, shops, museums, and even our sunset cruise. Their morning breakfast of cereal, fruit, and pastries was more than enough to get us by until our afternoon adventure. The pool was spotless and the interior lounges were tropical and oasis-like. But the real winner here was the room! Vaulted ceilings, wood floors, fresh new rugs and bedding, and a spacious balcony complemented the built in desk and wet bar area and two-showerhead (read: heavenly!) bathroom. I can't believe we found such a gem! Check them out and add them to your list or you'll be missing out! 702 is the best room with the best view!

My family has a place in KW, so I've never stayed in a hotel here. Our place(a rental) is booked throughout the summer, but bf and I wanted to do our birthday weekend in KW. The Truman is new and seemed cool. I pretty much agree with previous reviews. Check in was easy as was parking(that was a selling point for me). Location makes walking everywhere easy breezy. Comfy modern rooms which remind me a bit if W hotel rooms. Don't lose your key card-you need it to operate the lights and AC. We didn't do the pool, but the area is really pretty and seemed like folks were digging it. That's the scoop.

    Pool area was very relaxing!

We wish we had checked out and stayed at Marquesa hotel instead. But everyone was at the same hotel for the weekend so we stuck it out. For the price point, ones expectations are commensurate and this place was not even in the same universe as other hotels charging the same rate. The hotel is right on the water but in key west, the same can also be said for a gas station. Right away you know there's a problem because the elevator to reception smells like rotting seaweed (sargassum). The reception area seems like a guest room that was adapted and its small and dark and doesn't work. Then you get to the guest rooms from the year 1985 with chair railing and crown molding that has never seen a magic eraser in its life. Covered in 40 years of dust and who knows what else. The blinds have never been dusted or replaced in 40 years. Are you getting the picture? The head board had mystery smears on it. Floors were filthy with 40 years of accumulated dust. We dared not step one toe into the murky pool. We watched as guests sat there for hours, drink after drink, and never got out. Not even to use the bathroom? Ewwww. Every day the streets flood with high tide and poor civil planning so coming and going from the hotel means wading in ankle deep water and probably sewage, which is probably why the elevator smells so terribly. No wonder all the associates there seem so sad. I would be too if I worked there. I was sad for the resources and time spent here that I wont get back.

It was late night and there was not much available. Miraculously, this place ended up our final destination after 4 of us were on our phones for literally at least an hour. We ended getting to the place nearly 10:30 pm. The staff was AMAZING!! The place was beautiful with a location right in view of the water. The rooms we got were impeccable. Crisp white sheets, fluffy white towels, plenty of bottled water in the mini fridge. Poolside, they offered cool individually wrapped facial towels, sunblock, sunglasses wiping cloths, and much more. Their restaurant was ocean facing and very nice. We ate breakfast there 2 days in a row and it was wonderful. The only issue was our beautiful view was blocked by cruise ships on both days. The ships were there until nearly 4 pm... that part was definitely not good planning for the view. But for watching sunsets after they were gone... ohhh my goodness. All in all, a fabulous place, sensational customer service and respect. But do expect it to be on the pricier side... well worth every penny.

On top of that the room is almost closet sized with an exposed shower and sink which makes it feel very humid in the room. The shower also hadn't been cleaned with a piece of old soap stuck to the floor and bug crawling under the pillow when i moved it.. I brought it to the attention of the man working the front desk who first told me it was a queen. The GM came on later that evening and admitted that it wasn't a queen and offered us a slightly larger rom but same size bed. We ultimately had to leave the hotel at 1:30 in the morning with our infant because we could not continue staying in those conditions. The bedroom was also large, with a large closet and a VERY comfortable bed in a room that darkened to allow us to sleep in one day. Both rooms had TV's if you wanted to unwind with different show types. The bathroom was gorgeous with separated dual vanities so no spousal battles getting ready, a separate water closet (also helps avoid battles :) ) , and a huge shower with a great dual shower head fixture including rain shower. Given the propensity for high temperatures in FL, the AC in this place was great and ceiling fans kept the room as cold as you wanted. The pool areas were little botanical wonders full of great foliage, comfortable lounge chairs and just gorgeous serene surroundings. There were usually only a few adults there so it was a quite paradise to go read a book in the shade, lay out in the sun, swim or just relax. I'm not much of a pool guy, but even I enjoyed our time at this one. The lobby area is really cool with a refreshed vintage house and vintage furniture and decor. We ate at the cafe one day for breakfast and got great service and a pretty good meal.
