I joined YELP just to leave this review. Angel & the guys @ SD&I are the best -- responsive,…read moreinformed, capable, responsible, and fair. Working with Angel and the crew was a fantastic experience. Completely exceeded my expectations. I am the guy who small businesses like SD&I dread. I research online reviews and try to test product to the point I become paralyzed with indecision. I talk myself into and out of multiple different options and designs. Throughout my process, Angel was patient with me, appropriately consultative, and helped me get to the outcome he knew I wanted even before I could see it. When my wife and I decided to finish our basement, we had an opportunity to wire the basement and main floor of our house with a clean and integrated look. As much as possible, we wanted all wires hidden behind walls and clunky equipment concealed. For the living room Angel recommended a 2.1 system with capability to drive the subtle and nuanced sound from a turntable as well as the booming explosions from a 4K action flick. In the basement, we went with a 5.1 system that also balanced musicality with the power for a dramatic viewing experience. As required, the wiring was concealed and tucked away for a supremely clean and tight appearance. Throughout the design, product selection, and installation process, Angel was there to guide things along. He consulted, recommended, and sold me various pieces, but integrated existing product I had on hand as well as the Anthem MRX 520 receiver I insisted upon getting brand new for the living room. Attention to detail was exceptional -- although my existing speakers required bi-wired connections, the new speakers I purchased did not, and Angel and his crew nailed the installation perfectly. Attention to detail was also reflected in the recommendations for speaker cable featuring great access and prices to very nice Audioquest speaker and HDMI cables. I'm so glad he convinced me to go with the JL Audio Gotham Subwoofer -- I knew it would shake the house during movies, but I didn't realize it had the subtlety to enhance a John Coltraine's, A Love Supreme on vinyl. Testing out the final product was the best part of the process. Angel and his crew spent a while with me dialing in the room correction software and receiver adjustment process. My musical taste is a bit eccentric and I think the guys from SD&I were a bit underwhelmed with the initial test tracks I selected. When I finally played Keep Your Name by Dirty Projectors, the house came down... This review is way overdue, but Angel, his wife, and the crew at SD&I deserve it. Whether you're completely new to the world of AV and just want a proper hookup for a new TV & speakers/soundbar or you're a moderate hobbyist like me, and want to geek out over sound or picture, Angel and SD&I will have you covered. I recommend them without reservation.

Buyer Beware!! Service update (Tee W.)…read more I am extremely disappointed with the service I received from StarTech. Several years ago, I invested nearly $8K in a home security system and home theater installation. Recently, with a business trip coming up in two weeks, I discovered my security cameras were offline...a recurring issue since installation. Although I've always been willing to pay their $100-$150 service fee to get their cameras back working, this time the experience was unacceptable. The representative I spoke with was not only rude but extremely unprofessional, repeatedly lying about submitting my "urgent" service request. Despite following up for three days straight, I received no response. She even went so far as to hang up on me after I introduced myself, only to avoid answering when I immediately called back. Her behavior was erratic and unacceptable, so I asked her to have the owner return my call. I finally received a call back from the owner, Eric, who accused me of being rude to his staff and refused to service the cameras he had installed. Instead of acknowledging my years of business with them as an easy going, paying customer, he dismissed me outright and told me to find someone else. As a result, I was forced to leave my home unsecured for weeks until I was able to find a new technician who installed a more reliable system that hasn't had a single issue since. I regret trusting Eric and his team to handle the job. I strongly caution anyone considering this company. They will happily take your money, but they do not value their customers or stand behind their equipment or work.

Well first the elephant in the room. I hired Rob to set up my home theater. Well i.had to fire him…read morebecause my 80 year old mom asked him to move a couch for her and he didn't help her. When I asked why he couldn't help her he told me "it isn't part of his scope of work" I would've done it when I got home but that just left a bad taste in my mouth. We had a contract for $7500 while I supplied ALL the parts minus a eufy door bell and a flood light. You DISTRSPECT my mom you get fired! He does good work. He worked hard to get my huge Atmos speakers in. My theater room wired were all hidden and run properly. The equipment was set up neatly in the AV cabinet. The Eufy flood lights work well. Couldn't figure out the Eufy door bell but blames the wifi but he said he'd swap out. Couldn't figure out how to turn on the amplifiers because there was no remote. He said he'd research it. I asked chatGPT and figured it out in.less than a minute. Couldn't trigger the floor rising screen to go up when the receiver was turned on. Was hired to optimize my wifi and couldn't figure it out but said he'd come back. So he's not the cream of the crop at his art but he died things in a neat and tidy way. Also he damaged the base of my floor rising screen and the culprit was my wood trim. (See pics) Also he's money hungry. He will nickel and dime you to death. You pay a lot of money but everything has to be on his schedule. What time he arrives and leaves are set by him. Won't stay a little late for a face to face but has no issues bugging you at work so he can leave at his convenience. Honestly for the price he charged you can get better. If he was cheaper I say take your chance. First pic is the base they damaged. Second pic is what they hit to damage the screen base. Found another issue. When he raised my $4000 ALR screen he let it hit the ceiling and creases the top right corner. See pic. Now I have to replace it because it's very distracting and everyone points it out. Also ruined the paint around my in wall speaker by not cleaning the dry wall dust properly. With him it's hurry hurry hurry so he can go to the next money job.

Professional, friendly, excellent customer service, quality work and good value for the services…read moreoffered. Stephen helped me mount a TV in a small bedroom for my elderly father, on short notice, over the holidays. His communication to arrange the appointment was excellent and flexible. I knew what I wanted but asked for his guidance on how to go about it. He was friendly, pleasant and helpful on all fronts. I quickly I had an appointment and felt confident about how things would turn out. On the day, he called ahead to let me know his ETA and showed up on-time. Once he arrived we confirmed the job details and he got right to it. I asked him if he minded me watching and asking questions to learn, but I admit, as a highly skilled professional tech guy myself, I wanted to find out what experience Steven had and how well he understood the tech behind the services he offers. My motivation for that is simple: - I live out of state from my folks - good service is hard to find - not everyone is trustworthy - even pro tech folk need help with tech - I know tons of folks who need tech help Stephen answered all my questions with ease and I discovered he has great technical skills and experience beyond the services he offers. I even learned a few tricks about how to make aspects of what he did easier and more successful. I also really enjoyed talking with him about tech and even about life. I was left with a feeling that not only is he smart and qualified, but also that I'd enjoy working with him on any type of tech project because he had such great aptitude and attitude about all. He was efficient, handled small challenges with confidence and completed the job with ease...all while teaching me how he did it. I highly recommend Carter IT and will be sending him as many referrals as I can.

His eyes were also very experienced with the level-ness of the mount. I doubted him and I paid for it with a slightly-slanted sound-bar (but he fixed it with his magic somehow). Service/response-time (2/2): His response time was incredibly quick when he's aware. When busy, he might need some reminding. Nevertheless, incredibly fast responses, amazing hospitality for scheduling provision and incredibly pleasant to converse with. Price (0.5/1): Objectively, I think Steven's price is on the slightly-high side. However, to get someone professional, amiable, fast, and considerate? I would say it was worth it.
