Strictly Septics - Sink hole uncovered during Chuck's work that he backfilled with dirt rather than stone and rock.

We had already left because we live far away and had a small time window. He did the inspection without us there. The septic had a problem, but instead of failing it and letting us know, he made a deal with the homeowner to fix it for them. When we tried to call him, he did not answer for days. When he finally did, he was rude and said since we were not paying him anymore, he did not need to answer us. He never gave us the inspection report. The work he did on the septic was poor. He used cheap (rock-filled) soil. We had to spend another $1,000 to fix it. Save yourself the stress and do not use them for septic inspections.

Rather than back filling the sink hole with rock and making sure the ground was stable, he backfilled it with dirt which collapsed at the first big rain. He placed the Dbox at the edge of the sink hole, with the distribution pipe going across the sink hole. When the ground gave way, the system cracked and broke. When contacted, Chuck claimed this was not his responsibility. When I harrassed him enough, he came out and said the hole was not big deal, the system was fine and he'd fill it, which he never did. Got bids from two other companies both of whom said he failed to backfill the sinkhole properly before installing the system and that the pipes and dbox cracked. We paid the new company to do it right. Chuck Sweed is dishonest, does not stand by his work nor does he care about the customer. Avoid this company like the plague!

When we were in the process of getting our home ready to sell, one of the things we had to…read moredo--according to our realtor--was to get our septic tank inspected. But, as this was our parents' house, and they had since passed away, we weren't sure what the status of the septic tank was. We also didn't know where to find the access point, and myriad other factors involved with this sort of thing. So we called around. The first few companies we reached out to, who we scheduled appointments with to come out and inspect the property, simply didn't show up. The first company we called made multiple appointments and ghosted every one of them. I really need to find out the name of THAT company and write a review for them. But anyway... So we reached out to American Septic, which makes a surprisingly concerted effort at installing eco-friendly, green septic solutions. It's actually very impressive, and I would use them based purely on this ethical stance. But in our case it didn't even come to that. John, one of the company's founders, made a lengthy trip out to our house, even though what we were still trying to do was simply locate the access point. Usually that is handled by a separate company, so what John did was a courtesy and unexpected. What John did was walk around our property and work with us to find the source of our septic system, but after some discussion, and considering where our property was in relation to the town/village, we determined that we didn't have a septic tank, but were connected to the village sewer system. Since we don't live in this house we didn't realize this, but after some discussion it began to make sense. So despite the fact that he didn't have to, John had driven out to our house to check our septic situation, and in general was a very nice, casually and conversational person. Second, as it turned out we didn't even have a septic system to contend with, and despite this, John stuck around to share some of his wisdom and knowledge with us, and giving us some insights as to how his company runs his business, and the green initiatives I mentioned before. On top of it all, I would have been happy to compensate him for his wasted time, but he wouldn't hear of it. He mentioned that a lot of his competition would surely have billed us for the wasted trip but that it wasn't in his nature to do such a thing. I can't predict what your future situation might involve, but I actually wish I had business to give him! In fact, this event happened in the summer, but I've only gotten around to writing this review now. In any case, based on John's principles, his excellent demeanor, and the fact that he showed up(!) I wouldn't hesitate to give them my business should the need ever arise. Highly recommended company.

PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS SCAM ARTIST…read more Please be aware that this septic company is also listed as Truly Green Septic. I called to request a septic inspection as the outlet pipe was diagnosed as being cracked and compacted by an initial inspector. The reason I wanted a second inspection was due to the owner of the home I was trying to buy bringing another septic guy to claim there were no issues. I was still interested in the home and was hoping a second inspection would prove the issue. When I called I spoke with the Owner John Sloboda. He claimed he could do the inspection and would arrive that day. He was fully aware the issue was the outlet pipe being in need of a camera snake inspection. He asked me to dig the holes to expose the outlet opening as well as by the distribution box so he could have access. He said he was old and didn't have anyone to bring that day- so he couldn't dig- so he would only charge $300. When he arrived I asked him where his camera snake was. He claimed he doesn't need a camera snake to conduct an inspection. He just "knows" what is wrong by looking at things. I said he needed a snake to do an inspection on a pipe that is 40' long and buried. The pipe has cracks and compression well away from its beginning or end. He led me to believe he would be checking the inside of a pipe at the time we scheduled the visit. He said, "But I don't own a camera snake, so how could you believe I was coming with one?" This scammer then put on a pouty face like a sneaky child trying to get away with something while making you feel guilty for trying to cheat HIM! He then led me on a song and dance about how the septic tank itself was bad and he proceeded to try to show me different models that he could sell me. There is no such thing as a septic inspection done without a camera snake. Stay Away.

Despite not performing a real inspection, providing no written report, and giving only a vague, non-conclusive verbal explanation, he still charged the full quoted fee of $500 and dismissed my concerns by saying that this is just the nature of the business and that his camera cost $10,000 and he works in feces. Very unprofessional conduct, and I will never use or recommend this company to anyone. To make matters worse, a different company came out afterward, quickly found the actual problem, marked out the repair area, and promptly provided a clear repair estimate--exactly what I was expecting the first time

On top of that they told me my septic was bad and I needed replaced and said they could do the job. It turns out they installed the septic without a rock bed and the septic sank. It costs me another 8k to fix the septic that had sunk because of poor install. When asking him to stand up for his work he won't take the fault even though he knows he did a shitty job. Please don't hire them unless you want a forever head ache I fillings complain on better business bureau and I am going have my lawyer fight them in court.

He said he would send more details in a full report, and we'd receive it 2 days later. 2 days later came and went. I had to call him 5x before he finally picked up 3 days later. Later that night he sent me a 7 sentence report with a doodle of the property, and said he'd send more once he figure out an issue with his software. I made the mistake of paying him before he sent over the full report, because it's been more than 2 weeks since he sent me his doodle and I never heard from him again - though I've sent him multiple emails, texts, and Facebook messages since. Since I didn't have enough details about the septic, I hired someone else to do another inspection. They charged $50 less, gave us many more important details about the system in person, and provided us with an 11 page in-depth report on the same day of inspection. They also texted me back right away whenever I had a question. It was like night and day dealing with these two different companies. It's possible Orange County Septic Services is the right company for certain jobs, but I can't recommend them for septic inspections.

I pretty well knew my leechfield was probably shot. The next morning I called three places to get some rough estimates and timelines as to when they could come out to do the work. Orange County Septic Services came in below the other estimates and was able to get out there the very next day. Sold! After they had dug the system up they showed me why I was having the problem, outflow pipe full of roots, and then explained how they were going to fix everything. Did all the work and tested before they filled it all back in. Ended up knocking out the whole job in a couple of hours. Great experience from start to finish.
