I was very happy to find that TruHearing gave discounts to Blue Cross customers. They set up an appointment with a local hearing place here in Houston. I went there for my testing and they ordered my hearing aids from TruHearing. They are wonderful! When I first got them in my ears, I could suddenly hear people talking in the waiting room that I wasn't even aware of before. When we ordered two hearing aids at $1000 each for my mother recently they arrived defective, the tubes are facing the opposite of each ear and the hearing aid dispenser ignored this when fitting them into her ear. I am disappointed and will be returning them at the audiology office but because the aids are from Tru Hearing you must pay $125 to do that! I liked the technology but don't like the cheap looking awkward hearing aids! read more

Very bad experience. They spent a lot of time checking out my ears. Told them I have tiny ear canals. After two visits and a lot of time they ordered the aids. After a month they called me to come back to get them. I went and the fitting rep spent a long time trying to get them to fit. She kept going out of the room to converse with the manager. Finally I asked what was wrong. The manager told me the aids did not fit, and I would have to get Custom ones made. I was upset with them after spending all that time and telling them my ear canals were small from the git go. I left without any hearing aids after they put me through all that. What kind of idiots are working there that can't tell from the first appt. that they don't have anything to fit your ears? Then they told my insurance company that I wouldn't take them after the mgr. told me they did not fit and I would have to get custom ones. My Insurance Co. only uses True Hearing so I will do Without. I will never go to these Idiots again. Don't waste you time and money. I think they're overcharging anyway. Be VERY VERY careful. Make sure your contract and ALL terms are in writing!!! Two years ago we were looking for hearing aids for my daughter and TruHearing was recommended by Blue Cross Blue Shield. We were given a local office location (owned by TruHearing) and the audiologist we met with was amazing. Long story short..... we purchased the hearing aids AFTER the audiologist. At pick-up she went over everything again and for 2 years we had zero problems. However, during the last mold re-make visit she told us TruHearing was restructuring and were being sold as a private owned TruHearing provider. The fees went through the roof! 4-5 times the price of our agreed fees. The staff at the providers AND TruHearing corportate said this is the way it is and too bad. (But they were not that nice about it) Since we have a TruHearing brand product we are stuck paying their new fees and their new screw-you attitude. read more

At first, I thought TruHearing prices were too good to be true. It turns out their prices are for real. They do have fantastic prices. If you do not have insurance, or your insurance provider considers TruHearing 'in network', TruHearing is for you. I encourage people who need hearing aids to contact TruHearing. And TruHearing paired me with a really great, local audiologist. She's a keeper. Why only four stars? The epic journey of misunderstandings, incorrect information and delays between both TruHearing, myself and my insurance company has dragged my new hearing aid process out for three months longer than expected. I will testify that TruHearing has been true to their word, they have sent two checks back to my insurance where it will be in limbo for thirty days. And in the end, they worked hard to illuminate their process and, I'm sure, they'll tighten up their return policy. I have nothing but praise for the one woman in TruHearing's insurance department that worked steadily on sending the checks back to my insurance company, unbeknownst to me up until the end of my epic journey. I had tried a hearing aid from another manufacturer more than 10 years ago. It was the in the ear style aid and not very comfortable to wear and did not wear because it was unsightly - IMHO. I just put it away and didn't use it. My hearing loss got progressively worse and audiologist confirmed the loss. Audiologist recommended the Phonak Behind the Ear aid. While it took several visit to get the adjustments set to my world. After 6 months I'm finally getting used to wearing it and find myself wearing it for longer time periods. At the beginning of this year I got my new hearing aids. All problems are solved immediatly and my audiologist is awesome. When I had to send one in for repair they were out of the office at the senior center when I could pick it up and he brought it with him so I could get it. I even got the compilot for my telephone use both at work and with my cell phone. Best investment I ever made. read more

Visited the Truhearing office in Littleton, Colorado. Truhearing was great. I am 52 years old and did not want to get hearing aids as I thought they made you look like those "old people" you use to look at when you were younger. They put my mind at ease, were extremely nice and the price (through Blue Cross) was - well at a price you could not afford not to try them. This is my second review for Tru Hearing this year (2014) I was in transition during Nov/Dec, otherwise this would have been posted before year-end. The first review described how their rep: Sherolyn, was such a tremendous help in getting me to a good hear aid specialist and how Tru Hearing was such a great resource for not only getting to a good specialist, but also in working with my insurance company so that I could afford an excellent-quality hearing aid! After stumbling around the internet and trying to find a doctor or an audiologist -- and finding a couple of terrible people in the industry, my insurance recommended I contact TruHearing, which I did. That made all the difference! They referred me to a wonderful audiologist - honest, knowledgeable, patient and experienced! Tru Hearing also assured me that I'd have 45 days to turn the hearing aid back if I didn't like it -- and get another one! They supplied me with batteries! They have a warranty program that lets me purchase another aid, should mine become lost, damaged etc. at an extremely reduced price. I was so confident about buying my first hearing aid through them -- they made all the difference. And Sherolyn was with me the through the entire process. Answering questions etc. Wonderful. Then, out of the blue, we were relocated to another state (from Calif to Hawaii) and I discovered that they have doctors/audiologists here too -- for any adjustments, etc. And on top of it -- a package that went to our old address and was forwarded to our new one, was sent by them, with a battery tester and an offer for batteries at a great price! You really cannot go wrong by using this company. I really searched and researched before finding them -- then my search ended because I'd finally found a great company. I have been wearing hearing aids for 15 years. When I found that my health insurance would pay part of the cost, I switched to Family Hearing Services in Chantilly, VA (part of TruHearing). I never had the same level of service or care from the other hearing professionals. Pinky Pradeep Khatri, Au.D., CCC-A, is very thorough and explained the various options I had. She tested my hearing before I got the new hearing aids and twice afterwards, because she had made adjustments to them. I've had my hearing aids purchased from TruHearing about 1 year ago. They really do not seem much better than the 'sound amplifiers' I was using that cost $1000. Since BC/BS upped the amount they would pay for hearing aids, I went to TruHearing and told them I wanted to stay within the range that BC/BS would pay (after I was told they would cost $3000+). They fitted me with one of the 40 styles that were covered by BC/BS and I had to go back and have them tested when they came in from the factory. The 'audiologist' made a couple of remarks that made me a little self-conscious and I have tried not going back if I can help it. I am no longer able to drive and the place is 25+ miles away from me. I have the 'over-the-ear' style which has a black rubber part that fits down into my ear canal. It also has a white piece in the black rubber part that needs to be replaced ever so often. I have a hard time getting them out of the hearing aids; but, even harder trying to replace them off the orange sticks I got for doing this. I had to return one because they could 'see it' but could not retrieve it and it took over 3 weeks to get it back. The next time I had to return one to the factory (because it started having a lot of static), it also took over 3 weeks to get it back. I really do not think they are much better than the 'sound amplifiers' I had been using - does not seem to really filter out conversations over other background noises. Next time I will go to an 'audiologist' who owns and operates his own shop, even if I have to pay up front whatever he charges. I have a couple of choices and one told me I really did not need any hearing aids; the other one tested me and submitted a bill to my insurance company and I had to call them and tell them that I 'did not receive any hearing aids' from that MD (they got their money back - I have an EOB showing me when it was returned to them). This upset me with him, because he had not said that I even needed any hearing aids. About the only time I can tell that they are working is when I take them out of my ears at night - and my hearing is not like it is when I have them in. They do work, as I can tell especially when my granddaughter is talking to me and not looking at me so I can read her lips. I had to have the volume of mine decreased as they gave me headaches; but, now that I am use to them, I want to have them up the volume some; but, if TruHearing is restructuring and they are going to charge me, I won't do it - I'll just live with them until they stop working for me and decide what to do then. read more

I saved thousands of dollars using a truhearing approved audiologist. There were no gimmicks. If I had gone back to my old audiologist I estimate I would have spent $4,500 more for the same product. I see that some of the reviews are negative. Our experience was all good. We got hearing aids and now buy batteries from truhearing. The batteries are cheaper than we can get elsewhere and delivered right to us. The hearing aids have been great. We did have to go through truhearing to get the appointment which was a bit awkward - had to reschedule because of calendar conflicts. Other than that, I can't say we have had any problems. read more

Went to a local audiologist and was told I needed hearing aids. I was not happy with the price. Blue Cross suggested TruHearing. They sent me to the same audiologist and I saved about 1/3 of the cost, but I don't get the life time free office visits. I can live with that. TruHearing has worked for me. read more

I love what Truhearing has done for me. The audiologist was friendly and so very patient as he took all the time I needed to understand everything. When I came to get my hearing aides, once again he was patient and thorough in making sure I understood everything about them. My daughter was so impressed that she wanted her granddaughter with hearing problems to also come see them. Two years ago I had contacted an audiologist for a new set of hearing aids and was recommended for a pair costing approximately $5200. Before finalizing the purchase, I saw the ad for TruHearing & contacted the company. They were very helpful, and used the same audiologist that I had seen. They asked about my FEHB insurance & informed me that I was eligible for $1000 from my insurance company that I was not aware of. The membership fee was waived because I also had vision insurance. They coordinated benefits with the audiologist and insurance company for a savings of approximately $3000. I also received a goodly supply of batteries. It was a win-win situation all around. TruHearing was recommended by my local provider in Pennsylvania. I called them and explained that my insurance would not over hearing aids. They took my insurance info and said they would get back to me. They called back and said that my insurance had a $2000 coverage and they set me up to get new hearing aids. Two months later my insurance refused a bill from TruHearing for $6000. (I had already paid $2000 out of my pocket) Never heard of $8000 hearing aids! TruHearing kept calling me and telling me to talk to my insurance company. I told them that they were supposed to do that before setting up this sale. They claim my insurance company told them one thing then changed. Since I had told them prior to the sale that my insurance company would not cover it I tend to think their salesman lied. Now I have to return my hearing aids and buy them somewhere else! I fully expect a refund from TruHearing but I am not holding my breath. I will not deal with them again and I urge you to be very careful. They are scamming.... They highly overcharged. read more

If you want to live in a tin can get aTruHearing brand hearing aid. Have only had it for 21/2mos. recommended by Bl Crs/Bl Shld. Price was an issue. Felt rushed through by audiologist to sign final agreement. It is back in for service again. Diagnosis ear wax. My M.D says no ear wax. Can't hears speech because of static and other issues with aid. Use previous hearing aid because I can hear more with it. read more

Had my hearing tested at a local audiologist and was told I had mid range issues. Their choices of equipment seemed expensive. Not long after we received a Blue Cross partnership with TruHearing. The next visit was to a TruHearing location in Winchester VA. The benefit was a really good deal. Get 3 adjustment visits in the first year. One of the pieces has a short and had to be replaced. I can live with that. TruHearing is working for me. The staff at that location was very helpful and attentive to my adjustment needs. read more

Tru Hearing personnel in my city were very nice to deal with. This was my first attempt at seeing an audiologist for my hearing and I was given information on my insurance coverage and the different types of hearing aids available. Since I am a first time hearing aid user, I have nothing to judge the different aids, but the ones I chose are not doing the trick for me. I still have a hard time hearing human voices that are muffled and quiet. I have been back twice now to adjust my aids, and will go back my third visit today. We shall see if my issues will be resolved. read more

Excellent prices, but if you get a lemon you are stuck with paying $65 a throw for each visit to the provider in an attempt to make the hearing aids work -- this can add up and you keep on paying regardless of whether the visit was successful. read more

Never Again! Three years ago I bought hearing aids for 4 thousand dollars from Truheariing and have been extremely disappointed in the quality of them and the service I've received. They have been back for repair 6 times. Even when they work, the volume is not what it was when I first got them and when I try to get them to increase the volume they tell me that it's my fault for having an excessive ear wax problem, which of course they didn't mention when they sold them to me. I have chronic congestion which caused me to buy hearing aids in the first place. When they go bad, they go completely dead and to get them fixed I have to drive back to their offices which they keep closing. I am now on the 3rd office and they keep getting further and further away from me. The latest repair has already taken 4 weeks and even though they are back from the factory, I have to wait another 3 weeks for the "doctor" to be back in the office in order to pick them up. The warranty is going to expire by then, so even if they do this for free, the next time I'll have to pay an exorbitant repair fee, plus a doctor visit fee. I may just take the loss and get new ones from Sam's or Costco. I'll get a better price, and now that I know better, I'll get aids that are more appropriate for me, and I'll get a stable company that isn't going to keep closing local offices. read more

Hearing aids vary wildly in price. I'm a patient at the House Ear Clinic in LA and several years ago they recommended I try a Widex Mind/Passion for my hearing loss, which is much more pronounced at some frequencies than others. That means the loss must be equalized. For seven years, the Mind/Passion hearing aids were fine, but they simply started to wear out, and I was told the new Widex Unique was a big improvement. I could have paid $6200 for a pair from my local DC audiologist (you buy where you live so they can be fixed, adjusted, etc;) or purchased through Hearing Planet for $5000. I learned about TruHearing, and my local audiologist coordinated my purchase for $3990 (tax included). So I saved over $2000. There's a three year guarantee, and my Amex Platinum gives me an extra year. Got 'em in a week, had to adjust them once, and it's been all good since then. These hearing aids are much better than what I had, and my life is back in Technicolor once again. read more

Don't buy hearing aides from TrueHearing!!! I got mine through my insurance co. as TrueHearing was a reccomended provider. The process of getting hearing aides was easy and fast, and the new aids worked much better than my old ones. The problem was the hearing aids was not fitted with earbuds and tended to fall out very easy. I lost both right and lefty aides, but was very fortunate to find them. Also the wire to the left aide is too short and tends to let the aid fall out easily. I went to a local healthcare company where my wife got the same brand of hearing aid for about the same cost. My wife's aides came with 3 years of service, cleaning and so on. The audiologist told me my hearing aides needed earbuds, which were installed for $35. The new wire costs $125. I called TrueHearing and asked if they provided the same 3 year post sale care and I was informed I could have all the service I wanted if I paid for it. Wow. How come my insurance co. lets Truhearing provide such limited service, when the local healthcare provider can do so much more for the same money. I will never go through TrueHearing for hearing aids again, and no one else should do the same. They simply grab the money and run. The fitting of the aids was poor and inexcusable. I wish I had never used them. But, since my insurance promoted their services, I thought how could I go wrong. Well, lots went wrong. I'm stuck with a pair of hearing aids that I am going to have to pay for cleaning, earbud replacement and wire replacement, which from another provider I could have gotten as a part of the package deal. read more
