After the audiology intern completed the hearing test she said she didn't have time to fit me for hearing aids even though when I made the appointment I had told the scheduler that I was coming for a hearing test and hearing aids I waited in the waiting room until the intern saw her next client and then she fitted me for the hearing aids. Since I didn't have coverage for the hearing aids she said the price for highest technology was $6100. I opted for next level down at $5100 and I would have to pay at that time. When I went to pay at the front desk I was told that I could pay when I picked the hearing aids up and that Dr. Curtis sometimes gets better prices. A few days later I discovered that my insurance DOES have a hearing aid discount plan (through AARP). AND that Rocky Mountain Hearing and Balance are one of the AARP providers. Bottom line, I could have gotten the hearing aids for about $3600 instead of $6100 but they failed to let me know about this - even though they were aware of my insurance benefits. After purchasing top level technology hearing aids from a licensed audiologist for a couple of thousand dollars less at the University of Utah I emailed Rocky Mountain Hearing and Balance to let them know why I did not return to pick up the hearing aids from them. They failed to acknowledge or respond. ***addendum - A few weeks later, after taking the time to investigate the issues and speak with staff, Chris Curtis responded to my email with a thoughtful, kind apology. If I hadn't already purchased hearing aids from the University of Utah I would have returned to this practice. The staff are warm and friendly and seem to genuinely like working there. I have changed my rating from one star to four despite the problems I had, which as it turns out were unintentional.

The audiologist I saw (and highly recommend) was Mary Horn. I think there are several others but I loved Mary. I was fitted for my first hearing aid "ReSound" brand. It syncs with my iPhone and I love the app and also being able to listen to books, music, phone calls directly through my hearing aids. It has changed and improved my life more than I can express.

These hearing aids are so much better then those sold in big box chain stores, which has no doctor of audiology present, and sell a standard hearing aid. Those were difficult to hear in a noisy area. My hearing aids are the state of the art programmed by a "doctor" for my particular hearing loss. I love these hearing aids in that they recharge in a charging base every night or, if I choose I could use batteries. I prefer when I travel to use batteries so I don't have to pack the small charging base. What I love about these hearing aids is if I am in a noisy room I can hear perfectly.! The way these hearing aids are designed is it cuts out back ground noise and focuses on the voices. I was in a gymnasium full of people yet I could hear perfectly the person I was having a conversation with. If you need a hearing aid they give a free 30 day trial. You can compare for your self. I love the clarity of sound. I love that I can adjust the sound through my cell phone. In addition I can listen to pod casts, music or radio through my ear piece.
