I called TruHearing last year when I decided to look into getting new hearing aids. They gave me…read morethe name of an audiologist in my area (Cosmetic Hearing Solutions in Annandale, VA) and helped me get an appointment set up. Once I went to the audiologist, it was basically not a lot different from previous similar visits: she did a hearing test, we discussed options, she adjusted my existing hearing aids in the meantime, and ordered new ones. There was a slight mishap when the new hearing aids arrived: the wrong one had accidentally been ordered; I'm not sure who was at fault. However, they let me know as soon as they realized the mistake, and rushed the correct order (at no extra cost to me) as I was going on vacation soon and wanted to have them before I left. The cost to me was probably about $1000-2000 less than retail, and the hearing aids have worked fine. So I'm satisfied.

But, since I lead a pretty quiet life, and because of the expense, I've been putting it off. But, after getting a flyer from my Insurance Co., showing awesome prices for PHDs (Personal Hearing Devices, LoL), I gave them a call on Aug 10th. Now, TruHearing doesn't provide hearing aids. But, rather they're a 3rd Party Broker working with insurance companies to provide their members with reasonably priced hearing devices from over 8,500 providers nationwide. Even though Gwen repeated some information that I already knew, she was pleasant, and professional. And, once she knew that it was best to communicate via text, or Email, she had no problem in doing that. I was pleasantly surprised that they had a provider in Milledgeville. Unfortunately, and because the Audiologist has 3 different locations, the Mville location is only open on Mondays, and Wednesdays. Ugh! So, Gwen sent an Email to inform me that she had left a voicemail. And, that it is best to go through TruHearing. Jump to Aug 17th: Well, after 7.5 days, I had not heard anything from either place. So, I sent a follow up Email to Gwen. Jump to Aug 24th: Sadly, still no response from TruHearing. So, I decided to contact the provider directly. Thankfully, someone picked up, and was able to help me. And, I have an appointment for Sept 9th in the early afternoon. :-) However, at first, Terri told me that I'd have to go through TruHearing. But, when I explained that they have failed to respond to my follow up Email, she contacted them. Though, when I go and get my hearing test, and new devices, I need to investigate a bit, as it appears that the provider uses the cheapest aides available (Insurance price, $899/ea. My last pair cost me, $2,800.00). And, that usually means low quality. Ironically, within minutes, I got a generic "No Reply" Email from TruHearing, confirming my appointment. :-) In closing, I'd say that TruHearing is helpful for saving $ on hearing, be sure to see if it's really worth. After all, and imho, it would be better to spend more $ for devices that'll give you years of service, rather than having to get new cheaper devices every 2-3 years.

Even though this…read morewas a new device at the time, Chris was very knowledgeable about it's functionality, installation and pros and cons compared to other hearing aids. Just as valuable, was the feedback he gave me after my hearing tests. This was the first time an audiologist provided me with a detailed analysis of why my ears struggle with certain frequencies. He gave me a realistic view of how the hearing aids would compensate. After the Lyric trial was over, they didn't pressure me into purchasing a hearing aid. When I could finally afford hearing aids, I began visiting other hearing centers to find the best deal within my budget. However, I was often shown hearing aids a couple grand more than I could afford and told I would be missing out a lot if I didn't spend more. I went to Rocky Mountain Hearing and Balance and was upfront about my budget, Chris showed me several hearing aids and deals they had going on that would fit my budget. The best part, however, was that he was able to find out that I was eligible for a discounted rate on hearing aids through my work's insurance company. With the insurance discount, the same hearing aids that used to be too expensive for me were well within my budget. I've had the hearing aids for almost a year now and continue to receive great service from Chris and staff in followup visits.

These hearing aids are so much better then those sold in big box chain stores, which has no doctor of audiology present, and sell a standard hearing aid. Those were difficult to hear in a noisy area. My hearing aids are the state of the art programmed by a "doctor" for my particular hearing loss. I love these hearing aids in that they recharge in a charging base every night or, if I choose I could use batteries. I prefer when I travel to use batteries so I don't have to pack the small charging base. What I love about these hearing aids is if I am in a noisy room I can hear perfectly.! The way these hearing aids are designed is it cuts out back ground noise and focuses on the voices. I was in a gymnasium full of people yet I could hear perfectly the person I was having a conversation with. If you need a hearing aid they give a free 30 day trial. You can compare for your self. I love the clarity of sound. I love that I can adjust the sound through my cell phone. In addition I can listen to pod casts, music or radio through my ear piece. I am thrilled with my hearing aids and the attention to detailed Dr. Lifferth provided for me.
