Having gotten my hearing aids from TruHearing (via my health insurance company) about a year ago, I can advise you to *avoid this company*. Their "customer service" will give you a lot of excuses but no real help if you have issues with their hearing aids. I called TruHearing because my insurance only accepts that company. The agent was very friendly on the phone. However, after I called a local office (in advance) to cancel an appointment, I received multiple unwanted phone calls to reschedule. Three in one day. I had to call and ask to be removed from their call list. Truhearing has been great, up until the billing came in to play. The local director, (Dayton, Ohio), Tana, goes above and beyond every time. Location is convenient, the receptionist, Maura, is great too. All of my inter actins with them have been great. When I got my aids, Tana explained everything in great detail, and had an amount I owed, based on what my insurance, Anthem, would pay. My out of pocket was to be $2890, which I paid in full in late September. According to Anthem, the bill was originally rejected because it needed corrections from Truhearing and was sent back. The corrections were made, and Anthem paid Truhearing $865.63 in December. Per Anthem, this means I overpaid that same amount, and am due a refund from Truhearing. I have called and spoken to 5 or 6 different people, and am told they are "looking into it" every time. Finally, I filled a BBB complaint, and opened a dispute on my credit card. They responded to the BBB with a reply that made absolutely no sense. My credit card is currently working on the dispute. I would have given Truhearing 5 stars, had this problem not come up. I would have recommended the company to everyone that asked where I got my hearing aids. This type of business practice, keeping money that isn't theirs is wrong. I am due a significant refund. Due to this hassle, when it's time for new hearing aids, I will go elsewhere. read more

I purchased the Signa Styletto hearing aids in July 2023. After a year of adjustments and replacements, both the provider and I agreed that they would not work for me. So, I asked TruHearing, by way of a phone calls, 2 emails, and their "chat" line, for a secondary market to re-sell, or a destination to donate the hearing aids. Note: TruHearing was extremely reluctant to give me an email address to formalize my experience. Bottom line: TruHearing was unable to give me any direction, other than to state "contact your provider", who was kind enough to adjust the hearing aids on multiple occasions, and also process replacements when the hearing aids twice died. So, a waste of money and time with TruHearing. Buyer beware. I suggest Costco. read more

I had my husband order a set of TruHearing hearing aids 3 years ago. The customer rep, Ken Benson, told us at the time to have the rechargeable batteries replaced before the 3-year warranty expires. I dropped them off at his office Feb 14th 2022 (warranty expires April 22, 2022). He said it would take about 2 weeks. It is now more than 2 months later and still do not have them back. I keep calling but to no avail. Ken keeps saying it's the company's fault and he'll take care of it but he never returns my calls. I've called TruHearing but they say it's Ken's fault. Humana referred me to TRUHEARING as their preferred provider. I called TH to set up an appointment and was referred to the Dallas Starwood Audiology office. Wow, what a difference from my previous visit with my ENT which had an audiologist and all the equipment needed to do a real exam. Starwood is basically a small office leased in a building with a desk and a couple of chairs. Mr. Bina travels to different offices and works by appointment only. The exam consisted of the audiologist standing behind my back and speaking, which of course I didn't understand, and he proceeded to order the HA. I picked them up a week or two later, and was surprised how old fashioned they looked. Anyway, i barely used them, then the pandemic hit and I just never used them since I live alone and due to health issues kept to myself above and beyond what it was required. Now, that I am slowly going out to see doctors and getting back out in public, I tried to used them and they just don't work. Yesterday, I went to a different audiologist to get a different pair, since I was told in 2019 it covered a pair per year, which was wrong, is a pair every three years. My current HA are in brand new condition, and their not working with the little use I gave them is absolutely unacceptable! I think the product is crap, and Humana is forcing their paying customers to get overpriced and outdated garbage. Insurance company should start doing undercover shopping of the services provided to their subscribers-patients. I am extremely disappointed with both companies. I bought their premium hearing aids for my mother. They improved here hearing, but the representatives lied to us saying that my mother would be able to use them as Bluetooth for her conversations on her cell phone and to listen to music. So we went ahead and ordered them. When they arrived and she was fitted she did note an improvement in her hearing, but when the Bluetooth didn't work they said oh sorry you have to have an iPhone to do that. After we had already spent the $1900. Don't buy truhearing hearing aids unless you have a IPhone if you want the full functionality. And if your buying other hearing aids check and make sure their compatible with your cell phone first because apparently this is a common problem. read more

I purchased a pair of Tru Hearing Signia NX Pure Charge n Go units in 2019. Took possession of then the end of June 2019 ( bought them June 6th 2019 ) One of the Rechargeable batteries started to go end of May 2022 ( just short of the "3 Yr Warranty" they have. 20 hr charge lasts only 2-3 hrs now ( back in June 2022 ( just before the warranty ran out) I was blown off by their Rep at Tru Hearing. I was told they were "Out of Warranty" with no further explanation. I called T H today, but it seems they have NO RECORD of my conversation BUT they have records of EVERY OTHER call I made to them. How convenient. The AG's office should sue these types down as they're a 3rd Party provider, making $$ off others issues. Pushy commissioned sales person when I called to speak about my insurance benefits. Would not listen to me. I repeatedly told him (Jay) I simply wanted to find out more about the coverage and make my decision as to visiting my local family owned Audiologist or my primary care group. He put me on a brief hold, I hung up as I knew he was making an appointment. He carried through with the appointment and I received an email confirmation. I called the provider and promptly canceled. I also called him back as he left me a vm his extension. Of course he wasn't available when I called back, and the receptionist took my information to ensure he would not get commission for this appointment. She assured me this is not how the company operates. I'm skeptical as even as I was asking about providers in my area, he had me going 20 miles away, which I assume provides him a higher commission than the local one I'm interested in visiting within 4 miles. Very poor experience with TruHearing. I was referred through my insurance provider (Providence Health Plans/Oregon). I spoke with a TruHearing rep to schedule a hearing test at a local "provider". Once the TH rep explained how the process worked between TH, the "provider" and my insurance company all I could think was why do I need this middle company just to get a hearing test? It honestly felt more like I was being sold something instead making an appointment with a doctor. As soon as I hung up I did some quick research and found that TruHearing is in fact a middle man, and that the "provider" they would have sent me to is not an Audiologist or an ENT but more akin to a hearing device salesman. The hearing test I would have received (and paid for) would be no better than one I could schedule for no cost at my local Costco warehouse. I scheduled a new appointment directly with an ENT/AUD clinic in-network for my insurance then called TH back to cancel that appointment. I couldn't reach the original rep but the second rep looked me up in their system and said he would cancel the appointment. He also assured me that he would notify the "provider" and inform the original TH rep. The TH system emailed me the next day to confirm the appointment--at the wrong clinic, and my last name was spelled incorrectly. To date I have received multiple calls from both TH and the "provider" asking me to call to confirm my insurance information--which was provided to the original rep during the first phone call. The appointment would have been tomorrow and I just received another voicemail from the original TH rep. I returned her call but had to leave a message in a general department voicemail box. I called a second number she provided and reached yet another rep who at first couldn't even find me in the TH system. When he did finally find me he said that my birth date had been entered incorrectly by the original TH rep. I told him the appointment was cancelled weeks ago and he informed me that there was no record of my cancel call in the TH system. I am not at all impressed with TruHearing and I would not recommend using them. read more

Just know that when you buy hearing aids from an established audiologist, you are paying for continued service through length of the warranty (3 years in my case). I purchased some very good hearing aids at what I thought was a good price. However the service has been one fiasco after another. After two years and the hearing aids lost somewhere via UPS unknown and really needing them, I give up! Monday I'm calling my previous non-Truehearing audiologist and starting over again knowing that I will have acceptable service and no more unacceptable frustration. I was told on the phone about Signia Pure x3 being 21st century with apps for Tinnitus, "Directional Hearing," etc. to fix hearing in different surroundings. I have been trying since I bought these to get my $2500 worth, when it is the same sound amplifier that you purchase thu Walmart for $19.00. If I could give less than 1 star, I would. I went to the local TruHearing office for my Dad which was recommended from their website. Horrible experience. Had to buy their hearing aids. Horrible quality and pay through the nose for every additional service that used to be included. Even though I'll have to pay out of pocket, it is worth it. So, let me get this right. The UAW contracted with TruHearing, that started out as an insurance benefits' provider. Then, realizing that they could make a lot of money, now are also the mandatory provider of hearing aids for retired UAW workers, as well as the insurance benefit provider for said hearing aid coverage. Approximately 18 months ago I visited the Tru Hearing sales office Hearing Lab in Elgin IL on Airlite St. I was encouraged to purchase a Star Key rechargeable unit for approximately $1600.00 discounted price based on the results of my exam. After 4 return visits I am sorry to say this unit has provided no improvement in my hearing. I continue to miss significant parts of conversations . There is no noticeable hearing difference with or without the device. Needless to say I am very disappointed. The recommended device seems to being inappropriate for my hearing status. My audiologist submitted my complaint and analysis (actual waveforms) to the Engineering Department of a 5 kHz burst when a "click" is heard by the hearing aid. He wrote back and said this was a "Smoothing Feature". He MISUNDERSTOOD. There was NO such signal present . IT WAS BEING GENERATED WHEN THE HEARING AID IS TURNED ON. But NOT PRESENT IN THE ENVIRONMENT. Please ask the Engineer to look at the Actual Waveforms again and realize that this 5 kHz burst is NOT PRESENT WHEN THE AID IS TURNED OFF. He is ASSUMING THAT THERE WAS A SIGNAL PRESENT AND IT WAS BEING SMOOTHED. THAT IS NOT WHAT IS HAPPENING. This Design Bug that produces the 5 kHz burst sounds like a brush tapping a drum symbol every time a "click" (like typing on a keyboard) is input into the hearing aid. When I walk around a supermarket I keep hearing this annoying burst. The average person would assume this is how it's supposed to work. IT IS NOT! I have both the actual waveforms and a recording of what it sounds like. I worked in Electronics for 35 Years. I know what I am seeing is not supposed to be there. Please ask your engineering department to review the waveforms AGAIN and understand that this 5 kHz Burst is NOT PRESENT when the "smoothing" occurs. This is very annoying. But most people believe that's just the way it is. BUT IT'S AN ANNOYING PROBLEM AND I CAN'T USE YOUR HEARING AIDS. I tried 2 different types and they both had the same problem. The Audiologist who submitted my findings is: Anderson Audiology 193 N. Pecos Rd. #110 Henderson NV This was around April 2021. My insurance (Humana) only covers TruHearing products. I called TruHearing last year when I decided to look into getting new hearing aids. They gave me the name of an audiologist in my area (Cosmetic Hearing Solutions in Annandale, VA) and helped me get an appointment set up. Once I went to the audiologist, it was basically not a lot different from previous similar visits: she did a hearing test, we discussed options, she adjusted my existing hearing aids in the meantime, and ordered new ones. There was a slight mishap when the new hearing aids arrived: the wrong one had accidentally been ordered; I'm not sure who was at fault. However, they let me know as soon as they realized the mistake, and rushed the correct order (at no extra cost to me) as I was going on vacation soon and wanted to have them before I left. The cost to me was probably about $1000-2000 less than retail, and the hearing aids have worked fine. So I'm satisfied. read more

My insurance company only covers hearing aids from this company so I was stuck buying the pair I received from them. The first red flag was the business was closed when we arrived for our first appointment after a 45 minute drive. I had to return for that and then after getting them I had to return a second time because the left ear was over-compensated for high frequencies. The third trip was to return the left ear which completely stopped working. It was replaced a few weeks later with a unit not exactly similar to the first one. To this day it continues falling out when I bend over. It seems like I am leaving out another trip but I can't recall what it was for. If your insurance company will provide you a choice - DO NOT choose TruHearing. read more

I thought I was being fitted for a complete in the canal hearing aid. When I picked up the units after many weeks delay they were in the canal units with a large chunk of plastic in my Pinna (outer ear). When I speak it sounds to me like I am speaking with my head in a rain barrel. I do not see an improvement in hearing people speak from as little as ten feet away. It seems the units work fairly well when I am sitting across a desk or table. The ear pieces are uncomfortable and cause me to remove them as soon as I leave work. The only part of the system that works as advertised is the connection to my phone. That actually works. That accounts for a few minutes of use each day, not worth much in my estimation. I can turn my phone onto speaker modes and get roughly the same response. I plan to return the units this week under their 45 day return policy. If the office that supplied these units does not have a completely in the canal option I will try another reseller. read more

Last month I received a mailing from TruHearing saying I was due for a new set of hearing aids and that my 3 year benefit with Blue Cross was now. TruHearing made an Appointment with a provider in Mesquite NV., hearing doctors of southern Utah. They also have an office in St. George UT. They had a used pair that was perfect for my hearing loss so I decided to go with that versus a new pair with TrueHearing. The bill was submitted to Blue Cross but denied because it has only been 2 years and 6 months since my last hearing aid purchase. TrueHearing advised it was time, TruHearing set the appointment and now I must pay my provider $2500 out of pocket because of their misleading information. I have used TruHearing twice in the past, this mistake cost Them a customer and me big money. I am not pleased! I asked TruHearing to pay the $2500 since they misled me and THEY set the appointment. I was told if I had gone ahead and made a full purchase with TruHearing they would have caught the mistaken date. Not sure why it was not caught before the purchase. I bought a pair of hearing aids from True Hearing and had a problem with one of them. It just shuts off and I have to open the battery compartment and close it to get it to come back on. I was told I had to return it to the provider and she would mail it to True Hearing and they would send a new one out. I asked if they could send one first to the provider and then I would return the deflective one to the provider and pick up the replacement and the provider could send it back to True hearing. I was told that couldn't happen and was told that since I'm still in the trial period I could return them for a refund and buy someone else's hearing aids. I guess that True hearing doesn't care about customer service, nor do they care if anyone buys theirs or not. read more

I had called TH yesturday to find out how they work with my insurance. I was very dissapointed. I already had a hearing test at my ENT specialist and had tried a set of hearing aids to see if i would benefit from wearing them. Which i did and was moving forward with getting a set, when i found out my insurance works with TH. Long story short they told me i had to take one of their hearing aids. I asked then why do they show other brands on their web site? They said cause they work with other companies. I said ok if i try your hearing aid and dont like it and would like to order the ones i tested how much would it cost. I was told 4350.00 cause each one was 2175.00. I then said oh ok so since my insurance covers 2000 every 3 yrs i will then only out of pocket 2350.00. I was informed no i would pay the 4350, and be considered a non tru hearing patient so the 2000 wouldnt be deducted. At this point i was confused at the ENT doctor the hearing aids would cost 6000. With my insurance it would be 4000. If they could deduct the 2000 why couldnt TH? At this point i told them forget it, i didnt want to go through all this seeing there hearing person to try their hearing aids just to find out i didnt like them just to turn around and pay 350.00 more for the hearing aids I demoed plus the additional co payments. I told them my policy said 2000 + truhearing so to me thats 2000 off truhearing price. She still insisted that was wrong so they lost me as a customer. read more

Bought new hearing aids from Truhearing 5 weeks ago. The first week they were so loud and distorted I could not stand to wear them. I called back the next day. It took a week to get back in to see the technician. He told me that when using digital aids like mine one could not tell that you were wearing them. For the next several days I could not hear anything and didn't hear the aids beep when turned on. I called for another appointment. It took a week to set that date. I did not wear them for this last week because they didn't work. I plan on going back at the appointment date and taking them back for a refund. I hope I can get it. By the way, I asked what brand these were and he told me it was a Truhearing brand but they did not make hearing aids but bought from different manufacturers. TruHearing provided adequate hearing aids but it has been a nightmare dealing with their local provider, and the TruHearing customer service is no help. My health insurance (Humana) recommends only TruHearing, so I used them vs. Costco (which also provides good hearing aids at a reasonable price). I wanted a reputable local audiologist but TruHearing sent me to Revolution Hearing (Virginia Beach), which appears to be one tiny and mostly empty room in a locked hallway, a phone answering service, and not even a sign on the door. I asked about periodic professional cleaning or future maintenance, but the audiologist said that was not necessary. The aids were then delivered without a battery charger, so I took a "loaner" intended for another customer. A month later, the charger (and a mobile charger I paid an extra $250 for) have not been delivered, and I am getting the runaround from everyone involved. This company is obviously cutting corners in every way possible and shortchanging their customers. read more

Hearing Aids are very good. Strongly recommend anyone considering hearing aids first have their ears checked by an ENT doctor first prior to seeing the TruHearing audiologist. I saw an ENT after I got the hearing aids because my hearing in my right ear was so poor. The ENT found that my Right ear was plugged with wax diminishing my ability to hear. After removal, my hearing greatly improved to the point wearing the Hearing Aid made things too loud. I paid a co-pay to have the right aid adjust by the TruHearing audiologist, but sounds are still louder than I'd like. I really can hear well without the hearing aids but he money is spent, and trial period is closed. I had the wax removed I would not have thought I needed hearing aids in the first place, even if I may have some hearing lost. So I wear them, as the $2K is spent, but wanted others to hear my suggestion to see an ENT first. read more

I was referred to this company through my mother Scan program for seniors. They are contracted to a company here in California and the name of that company is Quality Hearing. The representative named Nathaniel is an absolute loof when it comes to doing his job and completing it. I am now going into the 2nd month of dealing with both companies to get hearing aids for my 93 year old mother and I understand the laws to cover patient information (I worked for Quest Diagnostics for 12 years) and for someone to tell me that my mother's case cannot be handed over to another representative in the same office is absolutely not true. Long story short this company did not help me and I have spoken to them more than once about this matter. I will never use them again as well as never referring them to anyone I know. Business or personal wise. Customers should not have to do the work of others who are contracted to work together. Period. They suck!! read more

I recently purchased two TruHearing aids and am very disappointed. They are no better than a cheap aid you can purchase online. My hearing people speak was my major problem. With these aids, they amply ambient sounds such as paper rustling so much that th drown out speech. My audiologist adjusted them twice and no improvement. I was told to make sure I wear them everyday so that I would get used to these secondary sounds and conversations would be clearer. It is three months now and no improvements. I have to ask individuals to repeat what they said only louder. Total garbage read more
